“You tied me up,” Penny said, sounding shocked. She poked him, then poked him harder until he grabbed her wrists and stopped her.
“You liked it, don’t lie Penny, you got all wet for me, you’d do it again if you had half a chance,” Flynn whispered to her, leaning down by her ear. Holding her wrists, he nibbled at her earlobe.
“You realize we have to get married now, you took away my only chance of getting out of this,” Penny said, pouting. She found her heart wasn’t really in it, but she still was planning on pouting about it for a while.
“Penny, I was never going to let you run away from this anyways. You’re stuck with me,” he said laughing. “Think of all the fun we’ll be able to have, things to try, toys to use… I have a feeling you’re my type of girl.”
“How would you know what type of girl I am at all?” Penny asked him, her expression serious.
“Well, based on what I’ve seen, what your father’s shared about his observations of your personality, and the spunky personality you’ve displayed every step of the way since you got here, I would like to think that I can make a pretty good guess at this point.” Flynn squeezed her wrists a little harder before letting go of them. “Am I wrong? Tell me you hated everything I did to you, and say it convincingly enough that I believe you.”
Penny opened her mouth to say a snarky retort and then snapped her mouth shut. His fingers were tracing her breast as his other hand was sneaking lower under the covers to touch her between the legs and she forgot what she was going to say.
“I think now is the time that I teach you something about my body. You have that beautiful mouth of yours and there are so many ways you can use it,” Flynn whispered to her, and then kissed her again, before showing her exactly what he had in mind.
The wedding was over, and her father was getting ready to leave her alone with her new husband. He wanted to go back home now that he’d seen his daughter safely married. He knew the two of them had been sharing a bed every night before the wedding, but he hadn’t said much, just seemed satisfied that she had been put in a position where she’d have no choice but to marry him.
“I’ll miss you Daddy,” Penny whispered to him when she went to hug him goodbye on the day he was leaving. Flynn had already said his goodbyes, and had gotten transportation ready for her father’s departure. “I’ll write to you.”
“You’d better sweetheart. I want to hear that you’re going to make me a grandfather sooner, rather than later.” He told his daughter and gave her a hug, then laughed when he saw her face.
“Kids may be in our future, but let me be a wife for a while first, okay?” Penny said, cringing. It’s not that she didn’t want kids, but she’d never been around many children and raised as an only child, the idea of disgusting little fingers wiping all over her didn’t make her want to rush into it.
“Flynn’s going to do right by you Penny, just give him a chance.” Her father told her and then reached down to pick up his bags. Giving her one last smile, she stood and watched him leave, wondering if she’d ever see him again.
Flynn came in a few minutes after her father left and brushed his hat off on his pants and then hung it by the door on a hook.
“You are going to miss your father?” Flynn asked her, tilting his head.
“Yes, don’t you miss your family?” She asked him curiously. She realized she didn’t know much about his history.
“Not really, I was never very close to them.” He said shrugging. “But, I’m willing to learn how to be a better father than I had. I see how close you are to yours, and I think I’d like that with my own offspring.”
“Assuming we have children.” Penny said and snorted.
Flynn laughed and raised a brow. “They did tell you how babies are made, right?”
“I think I got the gist,” she said and sighed. “I’m hungry, what’s for dinner?”
“Food.”
Penny shook her head, but followed him to go get food. A few hours later, he had his arm wrapped around her waist and they were standing by the fireplace in the study. He was nibbling on her neck and working her skirts up with his free hand.
“We should talk.” Penny told him, twisting in his arms. She realized that despite being married, and liking the sex part, she still really didn’t know Flynn as well as she should. If she was going to spend the rest of her life with this man, she didn’t want any secrets between them.
“Can it wait until I’m done having my way with you?” Flynn asked her, and bit her shoulder, hard enough it had Penny gasping, and her growing wet between the legs. Something about the way he used every part of his body on hers when he touched her had her melting in his arms. It was hard to focus on talking when she could feel his teeth scraping against her neck and his hot breath on her earlobe.
“It probably could, but you always fall asleep afterwards, and I want to address something I think that’s important.” She told him and pushed him away for a minute. She wasn’t even sure exactly what she was trying to say, but she felt like something was missing between them. Something that was important, something that needed to be addressed, and she just needed to figure out what it was.
“Okay,” he said, sighing, letting her go and taking a step back. The way he was looking at her, was like a large cat stalking its prey, it had her instinctively taking a step back, even though he hadn’t moved a muscle. It was the gleam in his eye that had her thighs quivering and her heart starting to pound in her chest.
“Do you have feelings for me? I mean, more than just sex? Like, what kind of marriage are you expecting us to have long term?” Penny blurted out, realizing that she’d heard of a lot of marriages of convenience, or partners getting tired of each other over time, or men going outside to their mistresses once their wives had children. She realized she couldn’t share. She’d kill him.
Flynn looked genuinely baffled by her words. “What are you talking about?”
“I mean, do you plan to honor your vows, with our marriage being just between us, no mistresses, no outside women, I don’t think I can share.” Penny told him and took a deep breath and looked him in the eye. “I’d kill you. Or I’d want too, and I can make life pretty miserable if I’m unhappy. I don’t want to be unhappy Flynn, the last few weeks with you have shown me how… happy marriage could be between two people who like each other. I want to like you.”
“Well, I like you too Penny, although I would hope that over time, you end up feeling more than just like for me.” Flynn told her. He took a step closer to her and grabbed the front of her dress, pulling her close to him. It ripped open and her breasts fell out of the torn fabric. Her nipples puckered against the cold air that touched them and she hissed in a breath.
“I don’t know what you mean,” she started to say as his hand came up and grabbed her breast with his hand, massaging it just hard enough to have her forget what she was talking about.
“I want you to love me Penny. I want to be able to love you. You make me laugh, you make me smile, from the moment I heard about you in the letters your father sent, I knew you were the woman for me. I don’t need other women. I just want you. I know it may take time, even years, to prove that to you, but I’m a patient man. But for me, I’m more worried you won’t be able to love me. I want to own your heart too.” Flynn said as his palm scraped over her nipple and then moved to the next breast. He paid equal attention to it, his eyes never leaving hers. He slowly backed her up against the wall next to the fireplace. He tore the fabric of her dress further, exposing her stomach and chemise.
“My heart?” Penelope whispered, her eyes feeling heavy. Licking her lips, she dropped her eyes to his lips, wanting him to kiss her. She could feel the heat on one side from the fireplace, and the cool air from the other half of the room on her bare skin that was faced away from the fireplace.
“Yes, your heart. I want you to love me, helplessly, hopelessly, the kind of love that when we are old and sitting in our rockers together on the front porch, we still hold hands and can appreciate each other’s company. The kind where we argue and it turns into ripping each other’s clothes off even twenty years from now. The kind where I know every inch of your body, and even half asleep, you’ll fantasize about just me in your bed.” Flynn said as he dragged his fingers down her stomach until he managed to get her dress to fall to the ground in a torn heap at her feet. She stood before him, shivering slightly in arousal.
“You have a sensitive side,” Penny teased him. She had wanted to talk about this, but she hadn’t expected him to be so open and honest about something as sappy as romance and love feelings.
“No, I just don’t believe in beating around the bush. I think love is important between a married couple. It’s why I was searching for the right bride, instead of just any attractive bride. I had plenty of women I could have asked to marry me, who’d have said yes, but I was looking for one that sounded like she’d hold my interest for a lifetime. You fit that bill and so far, I don’t feel like I’ve made a mistake.” Flynn told her, and then dipped his head to suck a nipple into his mouth. Licking around the sensitive nub, he played with it between his teeth and scraped his tongue against it until it was puckered into a hard nub, then moved to the other nipple and played with the other until it also puckered.
“I don’t know what to say,” Penny said, letting her head fall back against the wall, her eyes shut.
“Sometimes, you don’t need to say anything,” Flynn told her, and then pulled his head back. Flipping her around, he shoved her chest against the wood panels, the hard wood scraping almost painfully against her sensitive nipples. He put his arm against her back, holding her into place and bit her shoulder while he worked his erection free from his pants. Kicking her legs apart, he let his cock hit her ass as he pushed against her, pressing her harder into the wall.
Penny moaned, feeling the way her stomach and breasts were scraping against the wood, and the way his hot body felt from behind. He had her pinned still with his arm and his cock was rubbing between her thighs, teasing her. He had his teeth nibbling against her neck and shoulders as he put a knee between her legs, when she spread them wider for him, his cock hit her heat, the wetness coating the tip of him. He groaned against her skin slightly, and bit her harder, then with one forceful thrust, he buried himself to the hilt inside of her from behind.
Penny let out a loud moan as he started to take her from behind. Feeling the wall as it pushed against her body as he took her from behind overwhelmed her, she felt her stomach tighten and relax around him as she squeezed his cock hard with her vaginal muscles. She could feel her wetness dripping down her thighs, and coating his penis, making his thrusts easier. He was large and stretching her, she could feel his balls slap against her legs as he pushed himself up and inside of her over and over again.
With his other hand, he reached down between her and the wall and started to comb through her hair until he found the sensitive nub above her hole. Stroking it quickly with his fingers he smiled against her shoulder as he felt her hold her breath. He’d been learning quickly that she always held her breath right before she had an explosive orgasm, following the cues of her body, he quickly touched her while he thrust inside of her from behind. Rubbing his fingers over and over against the nub he felt her entire body tense against him and then the gush of wetness that always accompanied her orgasm. Biting her and not letting go with his teeth, he continued to stroke her as he took her from behind. Thrusting faster now, he moved his hand off her clit to brace himself against the wall, his climax sneaking up on him. Pounding his fist on the wall, he let out a loud shout as he shuddered against her body, spilling himself inside of her and down her thighs.
Both of them were breathing hard. Still connected as one, he didn’t pull away from her for a while. Instead, he leaned against her back and pressed gentle kisses against her neck.
“I don’t think this will ever get old with you,” he whispered finally, as he pulled out of her. He put himself back in his pants and picked up what was left of her dress. Wrapping it around her body, he lifted her in his arms and carried her upstairs to their bedroom.
“Bath?” She asked him, her body relaxed in his arms, she laid her head against his shoulder and snuggled against him.
Letting out a small chuckle he kissed the top of her head before answering her. “Yes, we can take a bath together.”
Despite all her original reservations of being married, Flynn was slowly changing her mind that being married would be a horrible experience.
For now.
Penelope should have known their honeymoon period was too good to be true. Finding a beautiful woman in his study had reacting without thinking. Stalking into the room, she confronted the woman. She didn’t know why she was behaving so irrationally, it wasn’t the woman’s fault, but Flynn hadn’t warned her there would be visitors and the woman in front of her had long, blond hair and curves that would could make a priest notice.
“Who the hell are you?” Penelope asked her bluntly.
“Excuse me?” The woman said, tilting her head, looking Penny up head to toe. “The better question would be, who are you?”
“I’m Flynn’s wife, this is my home, what are you doing in my home without an invitation?” Penny hissed at her, clenching her fists at her side, she wondered if she could punch her husband. All those words of there never being other women had her seething inside. She wasn’t sure why she jumped to the worst situation possible in her mind, but once she went there, she couldn’t let it go.
“Well, Flynn’s wife, I’m Flynn’s cousin.” The woman smiled at her and then let out a laugh. “You’re jealous, aren’t you? You didn’t know who I was? Are you really that insecure? Don’t you know Flynn better than that?”
Penny froze, his cousin? “It would help if he’d told me about his family. He’s been pretty tightlipped about most of his history and family.”
“I’m not surprised. My father’s the black sheep of the family.” She said shrugging. “I came here to bring a contract to Flynn. I want him to buy out my shares. I want to travel to Europe and find myself a husband. Having stock and resources here doesn’t do me much good over there. I’m Janie by the way.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m sorry I jumped to conclusions. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I’ve been… emotional lately.” Penelope admitted. “It’s a little unlike me.”
“Are you pregnant?” Janie asked her curiously, her gaze dropping to her belly.
“I….” Penelope stopped midsentence. Realizing she hadn’t had a monthly since she got here she gasped. “I’m going to kill him.”
“Oh, don’t feel so bad, it’s not the worst thing in the world. Flynn will make a good father.” Janie grinned at her. “Welcome to the family. I didn’t hear about the wedding, but Flynn never tells us anything.”
Flynn walked into the room a few minutes later, and saw Janie standing there with Penelope and froze.
“What are you doing here Janie?” He asked her, looking confused.
“I need you to sign this contract. Read it over. I’ll stay until you sign it.” She told him bluntly. She didn’t bother to make small talk, or even ask him how he was doing.
He took the contract from her and looked it over, his eyebrows going up was the only sign in his body language that he was surprised by the contract. He grabbed a quill off his desk and dipped it in ink, then signed it and put his seal on it. Handing it back to her after it dried he looked at his cousin.
“Are you staying for dinner?” He asked her finally.
“I could, if you’d like me too,” she said and gave him a half-smile that didn’t quite touch her eyes. Penny could feel the awkwardness between the two of them and realized she was an idiot for jumping to conclusions. Then realized she still wanted to kill Flynn for getting her pregnant. She wasn’t ready, taking a step forward, she opened her mouth to yell at him and then fainted.
When Penelope woke up, she was laying on a settee and both Janie and Flynn were standing over her. Flynn had a look of extreme concern on his face while Janie had a knowing look on hers.
“Are you okay Penelope? Should I ring for the doctor?” He asked her, while holding her hand in his.
“I’m going to kill you,” Penny said quietly, as she struggled to sit up. Feeling dizzy again she put her hands on her knees and took a deep breath.
“I think you need to take off your corset. It’s just going to get worse from here,” Janie mused and smiled knowingly at Penelope.
“Do you know something I don’t know?” Flynn’s brows came together in confusion as he looked up at Janie. Looking back at his wife, he was about three seconds from getting the doctor here to evaluate her.
“She’s fine Flynn, she just needs to stop wearing corsets.” Janie said waving her hand in the air. “Just give her some water and fresh air.”
“Is she sick?” He asked again, this time looking between Janie and Penelope.
“I’m pregnant; you ass,” Penny finally said as she caught her breath and glared at him. “I should hit you.”
“Ooh.. OH!” He said in shock as it sunk in. Then his face split into a large grin as he looked at her closer. “A baby?”
“Yes, I told you I didn’t want a baby right away, it appears you got me pregnant our first night together. I hate you.” Penelope said and then burst into tears before she could stop it. Feeling horrified, she jumped up and ran from the room, going to the bedroom and slamming the door hard.
A few moments later, Flynn followed her and shut the door quietly.
“Penny?” He asked quietly, hesitating, not wanting to upset her further, but unwilling to leave her alone when she was crying and upset.
“Go away,” she told him, angrily. She was a mix of hormones and emotions and she couldn’t even begin to process that she was completely out of control of her body and her entire life was about to change again. She had just started getting used to being married, and now she had to deal with this.
“I’m not going anywhere Penny. We are in this together.” He told her and walked across the room and sat down on the bed next to her. Putting his arm around her shoulders, he held her against him, trying to comfort her.
“You’re the reason I’m in this condition.” She told him, and looked up at him glaring in hostility. She didn’t know if she was mad, or scared, or wanting to strangle him. She had so many different emotions rotating through her mind as she tried to process the realization that she was pregnant that she couldn’t even keep up with them.
“Well, it takes two to make a baby,” he said defensively. “We can handle this together Penny, just like we’ve figured everything else out so far. Have faith in me, in us.”
“Do you know I nearly attacked your cousin? I saw her in your study and nearly lost my mind, assuming the worst.” Penny told him and then started to laugh, not understanding quite where the emotion was coming from. “God, I feel like such an idiot.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t warn you about my family. I should have told you about them. I promise that over the next few weeks, I’ll catch you up on my family history, who’s in it, who I talk too, who I don’t, and all that lovely stuff, but for today, do you think you can get through dinner with Janie?” Flynn asked her gently, his hand starting to rub up and down her arm, trying to relax her.
“Flynn, I just realized I’m pregnant, this really has nothing to do with your cousin, and everything to do with me wanting to kick you in the shins.” She said and then pinched his arm, hard.
“Ow,” he said, and rubbed his upper arm, looking at her in shock.
“That’s what you get for knocking me up. Now help me out of this corset, I can’t breathe properly.” She finally admitted and turned so he could work the laces on her dress loose, so he could remove the corset.
“You know, Penny, I don’t know why you wear this silly contraption anyways, I love your natural body. Maybe I should burn all your corsets while you’re pregnant.” He told her and then touched her back with his fingers after he’d removed the offending item that was making her dizzy.
“Don’t touch me right now. It’s not fair. I’m mad at you.” She told him, pressing her thighs together and thinking her body a traitor.
“You can’t stay mad at me, you love me,” Flynn told her automatically, and then cupped her cheek with his hand, and kissed her. Pulling her on his lap he wrapped his arms around her waist and just held her for a few moments before kissing her again. “I love you Penny. I’m not the least bit sorry you’re pregnant. I am sorry that my cousin’s arrival unannounced caused such an extreme reaction.”
“It’s the hormones, I think.” Penny muttered and them put her head on his shoulder and sighed. His arms around her was causing her to relax and even though she tried to hang on to her anger, she found herself unable to really stay mad at him. “I’m scared.”
“I know, it’s going to be okay, I’ll be here by your side the whole time, I promise.” Flynn told her. “Have faith in me.”
“You make it sound so simple,” Penny said and then shook her head. “Flynn, I really don’t get how you managed to turn my entire world upside down. I go from wanting to jump your bones, to wanting to bite you.”
“I know the feeling.” Flynn said laughing and then leaned down and nipped her shoulder. “We are going to be okay, Penny.”
“When you say it like that I want to believe you.” Penny told him and squeezed his leg with her hand and then shut her eyes for a moment and sighed. Letting the comfort of his arms relax her, she reopened her eyes and met his gaze.
“I think I do love you.” She finally told him. “I don’t know how you wormed your way into my heart, but I’m slowly starting to picture my entire life with you in it, and the idea of not having you in it scares me.”
“Good, that’s how it’s supposed to be. I know you can take care of yourself Penny, you are a tough woman, but you don’t have to go through life alone.” Flynn told her. “I love you too.”
“Are you hungry?” Penny asked him, her gaze shooting to the door. “I realized I’m starving suddenly.”
“Famished. Do you think you can handle my cousin Janie at dinner?” Flynn asked her and smiled at her.
“If you can.” Penelope said laughing, and gave him one final kiss before going down for dinner. They had a lot to learn together as they discovered more about each other over the years, but instead of fearing it, and worrying about the future she was starting to look forward to it.
She had a feeling her father would enjoy her next letter. Shaking her head as she thought about how her father knew what she needed, and that maybe she needed to learn to listen and compromise more.
Looking at Flynn, she realized that her little self-discovery was one she’d just keep to herself. The man had a big enough ego without her help. Squeezing his arm as they walked down to eat dinner with his cousin, she promised herself that she’d focus on trying to trust him more, and communicate better.
Their eyes met and she forgot everything but the way he was looking at her. The two of them were meant to be, and when he leaned down to kiss her before going into the dining room, everything disappeared except the way he made her feel.
All felt right in her world.
