This book would not have been nearly as detailed without the late, great website Slayerized.com. While it lasted, it was a rich reservoir of Slaytanic information, curated by Paul Slayerized, from 1997 through 2013. He shuttered it as I was finishing research. Paul offered this epitaph for his longrunning project:

When I surfed the web in the summer of 1997, I realized there was only one good Slayer site at the time (The Abyss) but I thought I could be a bit better ;-)

I spent a lot of time and effort on the site and improved my HTML skills (they're a joke nowadays). Slayer still mean a lot to me; the raw energy they produce is just insane. I was introduced to Slayer at 12 years old in 1994 through MTV (the “Seasons in the Abyss” video). And since then, that was it for me. I didn't care that metal wasn't popular in the  ’90s. This was what I had been searching for.

Today I am proud of what I made and the people I got to know through the site, but everything in life must end.

Lisa, I will never forget you!

— Paul
