“What the…Kyle is that you?” Joshua said. “What the hell are you doing down there? Are you naked? Damn, man, you’ve got no sense of…Wait, is that Farrah? Aw, honey, not you, too. I thought the plan was for you to influence him, not the other way around.” The laughter in his voice was unmistakable.

Kyle swore, for once foregoing the lure of Farrah’s positive reinforcement. Behind him, her throaty chuckle sent a shot of fresh need through him. Too bad he couldn’t do anything about it right now. He lowered his gun. “Shut your mouth and go back inside,” he yelled to Joshua. “We’ll be up in a minute.” He turned to Farrah. “Damn fool. I thought he wasn’t supposed to be here until Saturday.”

Still chuckling, Farrah wrapped the towel around herself. “Just be glad he’s here. Now there’s nothing to stop the wedding.”

He pulled her into his arms and kissed her. “He’s the one who should be glad.” He placed a hand over her abdomen. “My Katrina has waited quite long enough for her parents to marry.”

She locked her arms around his neck. “And whose idea was it to try for a baby
before
the wedding?”

“Hell, woman, I just didn’t want to fool with waiting to put on all those condoms. How was I to know you were so damn fertile?”

She pressed a finger to his lips. “See, I knew Joshua would be bad for your vocabulary.”

He nipped her finger. “Only because I know there won’t be any positive reinforcement going on for a while. I’ll go back to being good when we’re alone, promise.”

The sliding glass door slid open again. “Hey,” Joshua called. “You two coming up here, or do we have to come down there?”

“We?” Kyle said over his shoulder. “Who’s we?”

“Sam and Gage just got here. They want to see their new sister again sometime before the year is out.”

Kyle started to swear, but found himself kissed instead. He smiled and kissed her back. “That’s one way to shut me up.”

“I can think of others,” Farrah said. “Just give me time.”

“We’ve got all the time in the world now, sweetheart. All the time in the world.”

A word about the author...

Kathy is a central Florida native who devours books on a regular basis. Fiction is her favorite because it allows her to exercise her ever-active imagination.

She started writing short stories and poems in high school, continuing to dabble in science fiction and fantasy off and on until 2006, when her spunky niece, Darelle, dragged her to a writers’ conference. There her desire to write morphed into the dream to write well enough to be published. Four years, three manuscripts, and numerous edits and revisions later, the dream became a reality with her Bloodsworn series.

Now Kathy writes for her fans, inviting them to join her, not only in the fantasy world of Avalyr, but in the dangerous world of covert ops.
