Authors: Madeleine Reiss
Q
What would you like to write about next?
A
I want to write a love story. Something romantic and lush.
Q
If you were stranded on a desert island, what books would you like to have with you?
A
It would be absolute torture to have to choose! If forced, I would pick
Vanity Fair
by Thackeray because I always find new things in it;
The Mill on The Floss
by George Eliot because it is so familiar to me, it would act like a comforting refrain;
Celestial Navigation
by Anne Tyler because it is about loneliness and I would be lonely on the island;
Cold Comfort Farm
by Stella Gibbons for its ability to make me laugh; and
Heat
magazine (as long as I was sent a new one every week) so that I could keep in touch with bonkers celebrities.
Madeleine Reiss was born in Athens. She worked for some years in an agency for street performers and comedians and then as a journalist and publicist. She has two sons and lives in Cambridge with her husband and her younger son.
Someone to Watch Over Me
is her first novel.
This novel is entirely a work of fiction. The names, characters and incidents portrayed in it are the work of the author's imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, events or localities is entirely coincidental.
