Q
What would you like to write about next?

A
I want to write a love story. Something romantic and lush.

Q
If you were stranded on a desert island, what books would you like to have with you?

A
It would be absolute torture to have to choose! If forced, I would pick
Vanity Fair
by Thackeray because I always find new things in it;
The Mill on The Floss
by George Eliot because it is so familiar to me, it would act like a comforting refrain;
Celestial Navigation
by Anne Tyler because it is about loneliness and I would be lonely on the island;
Cold Comfort Farm
by Stella Gibbons for its ability to make me laugh; and
Heat
magazine (as long as I was sent a new one every week) so that I could keep in touch with bonkers celebrities.
