As I recited the prayer, I sprinkled a liberal amount of holy water in the corner of the alcove and on the fieldstone wall.

Near the end of the prayer, I felt the entity leave, but I continued on to finish the prayer, in order to have closure and to make sure the entity was gone.

As soon as I finished the prayer, the child spirit, Katherine, appeared at my side. “Can my family and I leave now?” She looked up at me with hope written all over her cherubic face.

“Yes, honey. You can go now. It’s safe. You’re free,” I told her.

“Thank you!” she squealed, and threw her arms around my waist. I could feel the coldness of her touch, but I could also feel the relief in her spirit.

“You’re welcome, sweetie,” I called after her, as I saw her and her family go up through the ceiling and into the light.

I told everyone they could leave the circle, and we all filed quietly up the basement stairs, into the cool of the evening. Randy and I walked over to the picnic table and sat down.

“I have to clean the rest of the house—just to make sure. Then we’re done,” I told him.

“Let’s do it,” Randy said, as he rose from the table. The hour was late, and we were exhausted.

I went downstairs to retrieve my equipment and smudge stick, and proceeded to smudge the entire house. Then I went back through and blessed the house with the holy water.

I’m happy to report that our client says most of the paranormal activity in her house has stopped. While she still sees the spirit of her brother-in-law, Michael, all the other spirits have left.

Our team, Black River Paranormal, is planning a return trip to the property to try and find the remains of the satanic church and to make sure all is well so our client and any spirits on the property can exist in peace.

While I still can’t say for sure that the entity in the basement was demonic, I can’t rule it out, either. Given the entity’s reaction to the prayer and holy water, my best guess is that it was a diabolical entity; however, it’s possible that a very dark human spirit could display the same reaction to holy objects and prayers.

If indeed the information told to our client is correct, and the remains of the satanic church are on the property, that’s a game changer. The odds would be that if the entity in the basement was a demon, then it is likely to return at some point, or another demon could come forth and take its place.

The only people who know what happened at that church are the ones who attended it, and if they were practicing Satanism, then the energy from whatever rituals they performed would linger for an extremely long period of time.

Since demons, like any other type of entity, need to feed in order to survive, the most likely source of that energy would be from the living—more specifically, our client’s family and their neighbors.

Only time will tell if the entity in the basement of that house will return, but if or when it does, we’ll be ready for it.

Conclusion

It is my sincere hope that you’ve enjoyed your adventures in the paranormal basement, and that you will return again to further partake in the unique world of the supernatural. I sure had a lot of fun putting this together for you.

As I worked on this book, it forced me to think back on all the ghosts I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had. It’s been my honor and privilege to have encountered so many ghosts and spirits—even the bad ones.

I genuinely believe that ghosts and spirits are some of the most misunderstood and most feared beings who inhabit our space, and in most cases where paranormal activity is occurring, there’s no reason to be afraid. But we, as humans, are often afraid of something we don’t understand or have knowledge about.

Thanks to movies and television shows, many people have become conditioned to fear the paranormal, and do not embrace it for what it is. The word
paranormal
is generally defined as something that can’t be explained by traditional science. That’s a pretty broad definition, if you really think about it.

How many things are in this world, which we really don’t understand? Plenty, yet very few people fear other unknown things as much as they fear encounters with ghosts or spirits. I hope this book has helped you to understand that in reality, most ghosts and spirits are just like the living; in fact most ghosts were once alive in human form, too. It’s just that now they are in a different form—and they are basically the same person they were when they were alive. So, that being the case, there’s really nothing to fear. I hope I’ve given you a clearer understanding about how ghosts and spirits behave, and a small glimpse into their reality.

Some of the dearly departed who’ve returned in spirit form I even count among my friends. Kind of creepy, I know, but creepy is pretty much my version of normal. Hardly a day goes by when I don’t see or communicate with the spirit world, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Some of these encounters teach me something, others are pure enjoyment, and still others are a little scary. However, my life is never boring. If, for some reason, my gift of being able to see and communicate with spirits suddenly disappeared, I would have a void in my life and in my soul, which nothing else would be able to fill.

I also hope that you have taken something away from each and every story in this book—whether it’s a lesson, or just pure enjoyment. Keep in mind that these stories span my lifetime of being thrust into the world of the paranormal—whether I wanted to go along for the ride or not. Such is the life of a psychic medium, and other people who have special gifts. If you’ve been blessed with such a gift, I hope you embrace it and not try to outrun, ignore, or turn away from it.

There is so much work to be done in the world of the paranormal, and there are so many people who need to be helped dealing with their own ghostly activity. That is my calling—to help as many people as I can.

My goal is to educate people about the paranormal and assist people who feel they are being haunted. It is my passion and my life’s work.
