For the purposes of this series, I have created fictional Fairfield County, Indiana. All of the places, events, and people therein are products of my imagination.

It is with great respect and gratitude for those in law enforcement that I write the Protect and Serve series. As such, I have done my best to present the information in the story accurately and realistically. However, there may be times when I had to bend the rules of police procedure just a bit for dramatic effect or when said procedures varied or sources conflicted.

I owe a special debt of gratitude to my technical advisers: Deputy S., Detective L., and Sheriff B. Thank you for answering my questions and for giving me a small glimpse into your world. Any errors in the story are my own.
