Vivian blinked. Confusion marred his beautiful gaze for a moment before clearing. Another male voice spoke close by.
“She’s disorientated. Give her a moment to come around.”
With much effort, Vivian widened her view by turning her pounding head to take in her surroundings. She ached all over. Tubes and dull grey walls surrounded her. No thunder, no waves, just beeps, hums, distant voices, and a man in a white lab coat.
Vivian registered a chuckle to her left and slowly swerved her head to gaze at Tuck.
At her frown, which he read like a book, Tuck reached down to cradle her face in his hands. “No, my love this is not funny. I am just happy to see your beautiful eyes again. I was so scared I would lose you before I even had a chance to tell you I love you.”
“You found me,” Vivian said in a barely audible whisper, searching his face, that handsome, strong face. “You really found me.”
“Of course,” Tuck said, leaning to stroke her bruised cheek, running his thumb lightly over the stitches above her left eye. His gaze was filled with love. “And mark my words, I have no intention of ever letting you go.”
Vivian slowly reached up to touch his face, normally so easy going, now marred with lines of distress. “I love you, Tuck. I should have told you. I love you.”
“I love you.” His breath fanned her face as he bent to graze his lips over hers in the gentlest whisper of things to come.
