and ten tiny toes and the widest, bright green eyes I'd ever seen.

“You're beautiful, little Lily-Rose. Just like your mommy.” My breathtaking daughter, just two hours old, flickered her eyes, then settled into a peaceful sleep. “You did an amazing job, mama.”

Tessa's adoring green eyes blinked back tears as she brushed a fingertip along our daughter's bald little head. “She's beautiful, isn't she?”

“She's perfect.” I placed a kiss on Tessa's cheek before nestling our sleeping daughter into her arms.

“I can't believe we're parents.”

“I'm still in shock you actually married me.” It was the running joke. I knew good and well Tessa was way out of my league, but she loved me anyway.

“I'd marry you again and again.”

I eased myself next to her in bed, placing a comforting hand on the sleeping sweetness between us. “There's definitely no doubt now I'm the luckiest man on earth. I can't wait to take you both home.”

She smiled, nuzzling into my chest, and her eyes drifted closed. These two were my life, my world, my reason for existing. I couldn't believe that in one short year I'd gone from rescuing her to loving her. We'd created a future for ourselves, one that was bright and vibrant and included many, many more babies.

“She's gonna need a little sister or brother soon.”

“Cage!” Tessa giggled, careful not to wake the newborn in her arms. “It's against doctor's orders to have sex for six weeks, anyway. Remember the birthing class?” Of course I remembered. Being surrounded by a dozen pregnant women was hard to forget.

“What do they say about orgasms? I've heard I'm pretty talented with my tongue.”

“Cage!” Tessa giggled even more uncontrollably. Her own laughter made me smile from ear to ear. When she calmed, she added as an afterthought, “You are pretty good with that tongue.”

I hummed and pulled her to my lips. “Let's practice then.” I kissed her, long and deep, emotion choking my throat as I realized that right here, in this moment, this was the best place to be. I vowed to make each and every moment with Tessa so beautiful we'd remember them all.

“Love you, mama,” I hummed against her lips.

“Love you more,” she replied.

“Not even possible, Tessa Talbot West. And I'm gonna spend every day of forever proving it.”
