Her head fell back on my shoulder and I started to monopolize her nub again.

“Oh, God,” she gasped, breathless.

I let her sway her hips a little bit. I moved mine at the same time, so that they were going at the same rhythm.

“Does that feel good? I know it does. But it’s not enough is it? You want it harder and faster, don’t you?”

She moaned; not wanting to say yes.

Stubborn Bambi.

I played with her until she was right on the edge of falling over and then stopped.

“Fuck!” she screamed out, frustrated. “Fine! You win! Yes! Yes! I’ll fucking come!”

“Good girl.” I barely finished saying the words before I had her riding up and down my shaft, fucking her hard, just the way she wanted me to.

“I’m going to come, I’m going to come so hard… come with me…” she urgently begged.

It didn’t take long for her to scream and for her juices to flow out of her pussy. I thrust in a few more times and spread my seed deep into her asshole.

It was Thanksgiving and I stopped at the flower stand to buy her red roses. I knocked on her door and she opened it, looking gorgeous in a cream flowing dress that went down to her ankles. Her hair was tied up and away from her face, and I knew she did that for me.

She stared at my roses like they were disease infected.

“You don’t like roses?” I asked.

She bit her cheek and stepped back to allow me to walk in.

“They’re just not my thing.”

“A girl who doesn’t like flowers? Is that even normal?” I jokingly replied.

“It’s fine. I’ll get them in some water.” She walked past me and I grabbed her arm.

“Tell me.”

“It’s nothing, it’s stupid,” she responded, kissing me on the lips.

“Do you think that’s going to work with me?”

She rolled her eyes. “I don’t care for them, they bring back shit I don’t want to think about. That’s all.”

I nodded; she didn’t have to tell me more. I walked to her garbage can, stepped on the lever and threw them in.

“Devon!” she shouted. “Why did you do that?”

“Come on, let’s go.”

She shook her head and I grabbed her hand.

“You’re crazy.”

I smiled. “About you,” I simply stated.

We drove into the community I grew up in and I parked on the side street. There were cars already parked in the driveway and on the street.

She looked over at me. “You said it was just your sisters and your mom.”

“No, I didn’t. You assumed, and you know what they say about people who assume shit.”

“You’re an asshole!”

I laughed. “Come on, Bambi, let’s go.”

“Oh my God, what if they don’t like me? Do I look okay?” She pulled down the visor to look in the mirror.

“You look gorgeous; they’re going to love you. Now, get your ass out of the car, before I do it for you.”

I got out and she followed a few moments later. I hit the lock button and grabbed her hand. We walked in and the living room was packed with people. My nieces and nephews came running toward me.

“Uncle Devon,” they shouted in unison.

The newest addition that had just started walking came right up to Brooke and pulled on her dress. “Up!” Skyler requested in her baby babble.

I thought Brooke would panic, and I was just about to interject when she smiled down at her and picked her up into her arms. Skyler put her head on her shoulder and put her bottle back in her mouth like she was made to be lying in Brooke’s arms.

And for the first time since we started whatever we were doing… my mind thought about the future.

“Devon, honey,” Mom announced, taking me away from my thoughts, and pulling me into her arms for a tight embrace.

She pulled away and looked over at Brooke. “Wow. Skyler doesn’t go with anybody.”

“I have that effect on people,” she joked, making us laugh. “I’m Brooke, so nice to finally meet you,” she extended out her hand.

“I know who you are. Welcome to our home,” Mom replied, embracing her into a tight hug. Brooke looked over at me and smiled.

My sisters were the next to head over and meet Brooke and they all embraced her the exact same way, which I think made Brooke’s reservations and anxiety subside. Skyler wouldn’t leave her arms or her side. I tried to take her away from Brooke and she wouldn’t have it, which was interesting to say the least, she usually adored me. Brooke thought it was funny, and said she was now her new favorite person.

My mom had invited some neighbors, and my stepdad invited some of his friends. The house was packed.

“Brooke, do you mind laying her down in my old bedroom, she looks exhausted and she won’t let me take her away from you,” Liv requested.

She nodded. “Sure no problem. Where is it?”

“Down the hall, third door on the right.”

“I’ll be right back.”

My sister Liv and Lauren turned to me. “We love her. You need to marry her and have more babies... like tomorrow,” Liv said, and Lauren nodded in agreement.

I laughed. “I don’t even know what we’re doing.”

“What do you mean?” Lauren questioned confused.

“Us. We’re just hanging out.”

“Oh my God, that girl is crazy about you! You can see it from a mile away,” Liv stated.

“I’m crazy about her, too.”

“Have you told her that you love her?” Lauren asked.

“No.”

“Are you going to?” she added.

“I don’t know. I don’t want to scare her away.”

They nodded, understanding.

“I guess time will tell. I’m going to go check on her.”

They gave me a concerned and sympathized look before I walked towards Liv's old bedroom. The door was slightly ajar, and I stopped when I heard Brooke talking.

“The princess didn’t know she had met her prince until he made her listen to him. He was very insistent, this prince, but the princess was stubborn and kept pushing him away. It didn’t take long for him to make his way into her heart, and now the princess was all confused because she doesn’t know what’s going to happen. The prince and princess are getting closer, and the more time they spend together the more she falls in love with him, but the princess can’t tell him because she doesn’t know how. The prince is a really nice guy and he probably already knows, but he won’t say anything because he is that much of a nice guy,” she sighed and I smiled.

“The princess is confused. The prince is everything to her, but she doesn’t know what to do or how to handle it. She thinks the prince understands, but she’s afraid that he’s going to get bored and he’s going to want more. He’s going to want a future, and the princess doesn’t know if she can give him that. But she doesn’t want to lose him, so she is taking whatever she can get.”

I leaned in closer to peek in, and Brooke was sitting on the bed with Skyler’s hand in hers; looking down at her adoringly.

“So, now the prince and the princess are in some sort of limbo. Where they can’t go back and they really can’t go forward. All she can do is hope and pray, that everything works out the way it’s supposed to. So, the prince and princess can live happily ever after.”

I smiled and watched as she stood up and pulled the sheet higher on Skyler’s tiny sleeping body, kissing her on the forehead and pulling back her hair. I quietly made my way back to the party. Thinking the entire time about Brooke being a mother.

And not just any mother.

The mother of my children.

“You love him don’t you?” I heard a voice ask from behind me, and I immediately turned to see his mother standing there.

Devon was talking to his stepdad and I stepped outside, needing a few minutes to myself. I didn’t realize how much being around him and his family would affect me.

I didn't know how to respond, so I didn't say anything at all.

“My son is an amazing man. He had to grow up too fast and I will always blame myself for that. I didn’t make the right choices for him, for me, or for them. I was scared and that made me weak. Their father was not a good man, and I knew that going in. But like every woman… I thought I could change him. I was stupid and naïve. I should have left the first time he hit me; I was going to. Devon was a few months old, and he had been crying all night. I was exhausted; his father never helped me. I can’t recall one time he helped with any of our children, which is interesting because he kept getting me pregnant. I prayed with each pregnancy that he would change, but he didn’t… he got worse,” she spoke so soft and eloquently. Even though, I could see and feel her pain, clear across the foot of distance that separated us.

“Anyway, he wanted Devon to be quiet, he needed his sleep to provide for his family. He came into the nursery and I just knew… I don’t know what came over me, but I laid Devon in his crib. Not even a second later, he backhanded me across the face so hard that I flew across the room.”

I wanted to cry for her, but I didn’t; I just listened.

“The next morning I had our bags packed to leave, but he came home with roses and a million apologies; I believed him. I believed he was going to change, I believed he was going to try. He never did. The physical and verbal abuse got worse over time. Our house was hell, but Devon… God, Devon, protected us in every way he could. He still does,” she stated with tears in her eyes.

“We all have choices in life, Brooke. They may be good ones or bad ones, but they’re ours to make. My son has always wanted to save us, and I know a part of him doesn’t think he did. But I’ll die knowing that he has. So please… if you’re going to hurt him then just walk away, he's been hurt enough for several lifetimes. I don’t want to watch him go through that again.”

I bit my cheek.

“He loves you and I can see that you love him, too. But I can also see something in your eyes and it’s the same look I used to have,” she stated.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for everything that you had to go through.” Was all I could say.

She smiled. “Thank you.” She hugged me and then walked away, leaving me more confused than I already was.

If that was even possible.

We said goodbye to everyone and went back to my condo. I took a shower and put on a green nightie with matching panties. Devon was watching television when I came out.

“Are you okay? You were quiet the whole ride home. I don’t think I’ve heard you say a word since we left.”

I cocked my head to the side. “Home?”

“What?” he answered, confused.

“You said home… I’ve been quiet the whole way home.”

He shook his head, brushing it off. “Bambi, you know what I meant.”

“Do I?”

“Where is this coming from? What’s going on?”

I sat at the edge of the bed. “What are we doing, Devon? I mean… are we playing house? What? What is this?”

“I don’t know,” he honestly spoke.

“We’re just getting closer and more attached to each other the longer we keep this up.”

He shrugged. “And what’s wrong with that?”

“I’m not leaving VIP, Devon,” I finally shared. “You know that, right? I’m not leaving.”

“Why? I don’t understand… why?” he argued, getting upset.

“Because it’s my home. I am VIP. I don’t want to leave; it’s who I am.”

“Oh yeah?” he countered. “Then who are you when you’re with me? Huh? Who’s this girl?”

I scratched my head annoyed and confused. “I don’t know. I don’t know who the hell she is.”

“I know who she is. She’s Brooke, she’s my Bambi, and she’s my girl. That’s who she is.”

“Jesus Christ, what did I do?” I stated as a question, rubbing my forehead back and forth.

“You act like being with me is such a bad fucking thing! Like you’re breaking some goddamn rule or something. It makes no fucking sense,” he roared.

“I’m not doing this, I don’t want to argue with you.”

“Then what, Brooke… what the fuck do you want to do? Please enlighten me because I have no clue. I know you want to be with me. I want to be with you, too.”

“Devon, you will never be okay with me being with other men and women, that’s not who you are.”

“I’m okay with it now.”

“Because we haven’t made any promises to each other. We aren’t together, Devon, we’re like a fucked up version of friends with benefits, except we’ve involved feelings and shit. And now we’re stuck.”
