Abby was ready to pass out when she got back to her room but decided to take a nice long, hot shower first. When she got out, Melanie was knocking on the door.
“There’s not much to tell, he told me how he really felt about me at Rachel’s party a couple months back. Then last Friday at her party, he told me that he was totally head-over-heels for me. I told him I knew and was just waiting for him to tell me. He walked me home like any other time. I invited him in and told him that I felt the same way about him and… then we…” Melanie was waving a hand around like Abby would know what that was supposed to mean.
“What? Then you?” Abby waved her arm around mimicking the movement Melanie had done, “Come on Mel just tell me!”
“Well I don’t want to kiss and tell but let’s just say he stayed the night again, and there was a whole lot more than sleeping going on. It was a good thing you were at Westly’s all night that night.” Melanie’s smile now was big and bright. Abby didn’t need any more detail to know what she was talking about.
“Really, well, I guess I’m shocked. I don’t even know what to say,” Abby said blushing.
Melanie started laughing. “Coffee can only keep a girl going for so many months Abby.” She might just have a point; although, one would never know it with all the coffee she went through. Maybe she would go through less now.
Melanie gave her a sweet smile and then reached out to give her a small hug, “You'll be there all night, don’t worry. I’ve seen the way he looks at you, trust me he’s in love with you too. Hey and if things go as well as I think they will, you may get happy tonight as well.”
“Okay, yeah, I’m going to go now, thanks.” Abby was turning beet red; she could not believe Melanie had just said that. What had gotten into her? “You have fun tonight with Jamal.”
“Oh I will, don’t worry. You have fun too. And please don’t worry, like I said I see how he looks at you. He looks at you like you’re the only person in the world.”
Abby had a hard time trying to take a nap, she just could not fall asleep. It was a very interesting little talk she had in the bathroom with Melanie. Did Melanie really see love in Westly’s eyes when he looked at her? If it was there for others to see, why didn’t she see it? Or did she see it? Maybe she was so busy looking at him the same way she didn’t notice.
With a sigh she closed her eyes and tried a little harder to drift off to sleep. She had made up her mind and now knew she had to tell him how she felt no matter what was going to come of it. There was no need to mull over it or practice how she would say it to him. She just needed four words, and she knew that they were words she couldn’t mess up, even if she tried.
Chapter 15
The phone was ringing in no time. All Abby could think was that it figured - try and take a nap and the phone is going to ring. She opened her eyes and glanced toward the clock – six-forty pm. Abby jumped out of bed and grabbed the phone in one movement. “Westly?”
“Abby, I was starting to get worried about you. Ten minutes late for a person that is always like five minutes early, well, that is really late. Is everything ok?”
“Yes, I’m sorry I laid down for a nap and,” Abby had to pause and yawn, she was still half asleep, “ugh, sorry. I guess I didn’t set the alarm. I can be ready and over in ten. If you still want me to come that is.”
“Of course I do Abs. Besides I have been thinking about you all day, and well, I’ll tell you when you get over here. So, hurry up. Okay?”
“I can make it in seven minutes. Bye.”
“Bye Abs.”
Abby was out of bed and in the bathroom in a flash washing her face. She changed into drawstring linen pants and a long sleeve t-shirt, slipped on some ballet flats, and grabbed her bag. She struggled with the snarls in her hair as best she could in the elevator on the way down.
Nearly running past the two buildings that separated her dorm from Westly’s, she raced up the stairs to his floor. When she got to his room, the door was open and Westly was pacing back and forth inside. It only took one look at him for Abby to become worried. Was something wrong? When he saw her standing in the doorway, he walked to her quickly, pulling her inside, shutting and locking the door behind them.
Abby walked to the pulled out futon and put her bag on the floor; she turned around to see him pacing again near the door. What was going on she had no idea but this behavior was not like him at all. He was in the room with her but clearly his mind was in a totally different place.
“Westly, is something wrong?” Abby watched as he kept pacing, looking as if he was talking to himself silently. She stood and took a few steps toward him reaching out to touch his arm. “Westly, what’s wrong?”
“Oh Abs, when did you walk in?” He looked almost shocked to see her there in front of him.
“Westly, what’s wrong with you? You just pulled me in here and shut the door. Then you started pacing again, is something wrong?”
“I’m sorry, I was distracted I guess. It’s just that I have been thinking all day, and I had my mind made up. Then when I talked to you on the phone I thought I should change my mind, but then I was sure I shouldn’t and now I’m not sure at all because I don’t want to seem crazy.”
“Westly, stop. Look at me, look at my eyes.” The second he looked into her eyes, she could see a calm come over him. He put his hands on her waist and took a deep breath. “See, now that’s better isn’t it?” Abby said wrapping her arms up around his neck and pulling him in for a kiss.
She had no idea what was going on with him, but he was giving her the perfect reason to say what she wanted to. When he pulled away, Abby looked into his eyes and started to speak, “Westly, I…”
“Abs wait, before you say anything I want to tell you something. Before I change my mind again or don’t say it right.”
Abby held his gaze. He was acting mostly like himself now, and she was afraid if his eyes wandered from hers, his words would wander off on their own again.
“Please Abs?”
“Ok, let’s sit down, but don’t take your eyes off mine for one second.”
Westly shook his head yes and picked her up and walked toward the futon. Abby wrapped her legs around his waist and looked into his eyes, refusing to even let her eyes blink once.
When they were on the futon Abby spoke first, “Now take a deep breath and just tell me what is going on.”
Westly did as Abby had asked him, never taking his eyes off of hers and said, “I was thinking a lot this morning, well last night really. Well, what you said in your sleep, and I didn’t even get much stuff done today I was thinking about it so much.” Westly dropped his eyes, and Abby waited for just a moment before she softly grabbed his chin and pulled his face back up so that his gaze met hers again. “I don’t know when, and I don’t know how but I...” At the very moment he stopped talking, Abby knew what he was trying to say to her. Westly wanted to say the same thing she did.
Abby took her chance now and spoke before he could interrupt her again. “Westly, I love you more than anything.” The moment she said it the expression on his face changed. She was not sure what it was shock, but almost relief with a touch of anxiety. Maybe she was wrong and it wasn’t what he was going to say to her at all.
“Abs, I, I love you. I was so afraid to say it and to hear you tell me that, that you did not feel the same way about me.”
With that Abby kissed Westly with all her heart, like she never had before. All the passion in the world was between their lips there for just the two of them to have in that moment of time.
Westly’s hands caressed her back softly, and Abby didn’t flinch the slightest bit when she felt his hands on her bare skin. With soft kisses she made her way up his jaw line, slowly and sweetly all the way to his ear. She felt his whole body shiver as she whispered into his ear, “Say it again Westly. Please, tell me again.” Slowly Abby kissed his earlobe and without a thought, caressed it softly with her tongue.
He let out a sigh and pulled her closer to him. Moving slowly she looked into his eyes, and as he opened them he said it again. He spoke softer and slower this time with a kiss for her between each of his words. Abby felt small tears welling up in her eyes. When he saw them falling down her cheeks he kissed them away one at a time. With his handsome crooked smile and one eyebrow raised, he asked her if she was ok.
“Yes, I love you,” were the only words she could find, but she knew they were the only ones she needed.
His lips were back on hers again, one hand in her hair the other on her back. Every time his tongue found hers she melted farther into him - wishing her body could be welded to his. Westly’s lips carved a path from her lips, across her chin and to her neck. He was kissing up and down her neck under her ear, perfect small kisses that set her body on fire more each time. When he would caress her neck with his tongue, she thought she was going to lose her mind altogether. With each touch and kiss, Abby gave herself over to Westly more completely than she even had before.
Everything started to unfold perfectly, better than any romantic movie Abby had ever seen. The people who wrote those scenes knew nothing of this kind of passion. Abby’s body was so hot she felt as if she could start a fire. As the tips of her fingers touched Westly’s skin, she felt as if she was both playing with the flames of a fire that burned bright and touching the soft, delicate petals of a rose.
She found the buttons of his shirt and started to undo them slowly, touching his skin every chance she got. Abby took her time pulling his shirt off, caressing the contours of his arms all the way down as she went. Westly lifted her shirt off the same way, slowly touching her sides all the way up and then her arms. She took her lips from his hesitantly as he lifted it over her head. Abby willingly lifted her arms into the air.
His fingers intertwined in hers as their arms came back down together, and they stared into each others’ eyes. When his hands unraveled from hers, they caressed slowly back up her arms and across her collarbone. Abby’s head went back slightly as his thumbs went to the hollow at the bottom of her neck and he kissed under her chin. Westly’s hands ran slowly down the front of her as he kissed her neck. When his hands got to her stomach, they made their way to her sides and then to her back again. He kissed her and as her lips parted, he pulled her bottom lip into his mouth in a tender and seductive manner that caused a moan to rumble through her.
His hands were hot and perfect on her warm skin, soft yet firm. She slowly touched his arms, so strong under her timid hands. Westly’s hands were on her face again; then her neck and slowly they moved onto her shoulders and pulled the straps of her bra down onto her arms. Abby pulled at the bottom of Westly’s undershirt and placed her hands on his sides, perfect strong sides full of muscles. Lifting his shirt slowly over his head, Abby felt his stomach brush hers and she pushed him back till she was on top of him making full contact with his warm body. She was kissing his neck again and Abby could feel his heart beating rapidly under her lips, making her own heart race to join the pace of his.
His hands were everywhere it seemed all at one time. Even when he moved them she could feel the traces he left on her skin. Abby kissed Westly’s chest and his breathing picked up under her lips. He moaned just a little, grabbed her face and sat up quickly kissing her again. His arms wrapped around her and Westly stood up. He lost his footing for a second and then caught himself with one hand on the opposite wall. It took just two steps and he had her back against the wall; as her back touched the coldness, Abby shivered and wrapped her arms around his neck tighter. His hands moved to her thighs and he squeezed them gently before placing his hands under her backside. Westly lifted her high onto him and pulled away from the wall.
In one swift movement her back was on the futon and Westly was on top of her. His strong arms supporting his own weight as he hovered above her, his eyes gazing over each inch of her exposed skin. Abby saw nothing but pure love in his eyes. She found herself going crazy as his eyes looked over her body longer; she wanted his hands there, his lips there. Abby pulled herself up to kiss him and he placed one hand behind her head and lowered her back down. Abby felt him against her and moaned at the feeling of his bare chest against her skin. She felt his hand as it slowly found the clasp on her back. Westly paused there and started to pull away. She found the heat in her rising and moved her lips to his ear, kissing it she told him not to stop. She moved his hand slowly back to where he left off. Westly looked at her and she nodded, pulling him back to her to whisper in his ear again, “I’m yours Westly. I love you.”
In one movement the clasp was undone. His lips were on her collarbone, soft and firm at the same time, making Abby’s breathe catch in her chest. She couldn’t think anymore when his hand glided gently down her now bare chest and stopped just under her breast. Each touch was hotter than the last one. Abby touched his stomach and made her way to the button on his pants. Westly pulled her hand away and placed it over her head. Abby didn't protest as he started kissing her chin again and then back down her. By the time his hot mouth touched the base of her neck, she was arching her back into the air.
