“No. No!” Reese shook his head frantically and dropped down on the couch, trying to calm down. He kept his hand on his crotch, just for safekeeping.

Harper sat beside him. “You’re a strange dude, but I like it.”

“Did I shave this morning?” Reese asked himself out loud. “I must have. I’m just being ridiculous.”

“I sometimes forget if I shaved too.” Harper touched his own cheek. “But your beard is much darker than mine.”

“I look like a man to you, right?”

Harper narrowed his eyes at him suspiciously. “Are you high?”

“No. I don’t think I am.” Reese touched his hair and asked,

“Does it look longer than yesterday?”

“Whoa, dude, you’re trippin’.” Harper laughed.

Reese stared at Harper’s smile, his blond hair and light eyes.

“Yeah. I’m being silly.” He tried to laugh.

“Now can I suck your cock?”

“No.”

~

“The flies will eat your food. Should I bring it in?” Maria pointed to the patio.

“Is Hera turning my man into a woman?” Adonis hadn’t moved from his spot in the middle of the living room.

“I try not to meddle.” She left the room.

Adonis thought it out and yelled after her, “All you do is meddle!” but she didn’t answer back.

A metallic noise made him jump. He leapt to his feet, ran to his bedroom, and threw his clothing up into the air until he found his phone. He pushed buttons frantically. “Hello? Hello?”

“Smith?”

“Yes?”

“Heath.”

“Oh. Hello.” Adonis sat on top of the pile of paper that still lay on the floor near his bed.

“Doug and I want to know what you’re up to tonight.”

“Up to my neck in trouble.” He leaned his elbow on the bed and sighed.

“Cool. Want company?”

“Always.”

“What’s Reese doing?”

“Turning into a woman.”

“No! Dude! He’s getting hormones and shit?”

Adonis tried to think. “No, he’s getting a clean chin and long hair.”

“Huh?”

“Huh what?” Adonis tried to stand and the paperwork stuck to his skin. He batted it off and looked at the mess of pages and clothing in piles.

“You say some weird things, dude.”

“He won’t marry me.”

“You asked him to marry you? How long you guys known each other? Didn’t you just meet on the beach on Sunday?”

“I need to be married.”

“You sound as if your biological clock is ticking, dude. You’re not having a baby. Chill.”

“A baby. Yes, that is what they want of me. To spread my seed to the mortal women.”

“Dude, that’s how parents are. Mine’s the same. Gotta just frig it.”

Adonis moaned and looked at the mess on the floor, hating discord.

“What did Reese think about the family tree shit? He impressed?”

“Yes. No. I don’t know.” Adonis sat on the bed, confused.
I
thought mortals were easy. Immortals seem to claim them all the
time. What did I do wrong?

“You knew him for a day and you asked him to marry you?

Dude
!”

“Is that it? One day? Was that what I did wrong? I thought he and I made a connection. I feel very strongly for him.”

“Doug and I feel strongly…but marry? I thought, we’re gay so we don’t have to get married. Ya know, all that breeder shit. We’re so above that. Right?”

“What language are you speaking?” Adonis couldn’t follow Heath’s comments for very long. Each time he tried to, he got lost.

“English, dude. Okay, so? Your place?”

“My place.” Adonis picked up a piece of paper from the floor, seeing Reese’s ancestry.

“Cool, dude. I’ll bring the beer.”

Adonis heard nothing after that. “Hello? Did you say you’re coming here?” He pushed buttons on the phone and when he couldn’t hear Heath any longer he put it on the nightstand. Grabbing stacks of paper, he picked up the pile and scanned the information.

“Adonis?”

“What?” He stacked the pages neatly as he read them.

“No luck?”

“No.”

“I tried to get at your dad, but he’s been on top of too many mortal women at the moment, and I can’t seem to get his attention.”

“What’s Hera doing?” Adonis placed a pile of paperwork on the dresser.

“Hang on, I’ll check.”

He picked up the rest of the pages and stacked them with the rest, then dressed in the clothing that lay on the floor where he had taken it off.

“Ya there?”

“Yes.” Adonis tucked his shirt into his jeans.

“She’s trying to bottle pomegranate juice. She says it’s the next acacia berry.”

“Stop clowning.” Adonis ran his hand through his hair.

“Your dad has sent Echo to her to keep her busy while he screws around.”

Adonis looked upwards. “Echo is with her?”

“At the moment. Did you see the Oracle?”

“Yes.” Adonis folded his arms. “Since when does she make us look everything up ourselves? Isn’t she supposed to give advice?”

“I have no clue. It’s been ages since I’ve asked her anything.”

“Look, keep trying to get to Dad, okay?”

“Sure thing, Adonis. Anything for you.”

“See ya.” Adonis left the room, rushing back to get his phone before he left.

Chapter 13

Reese sat slumped on the sectional, staring into space.

“I don’t know why you’re so bummed, Reese,” Harper smoothed his hand down Reese’s bare leg. “A guy who wants to marry you? I’d marry you. Wanna get married?”

“No.”

“Is it because I’m not eighteen?”

Reese shifted his glance to Harper and gave him an exasperated look.

There was a knock on his unit door.

Both Reese and Harper turned to look at it.

“It could be Cybil. She knows I’ve been hanging with you a lot.” He checked his watch. “And it is after five.”

“Go check.” Reese tilted his head towards the door, unmotivated to move.

Harper hopped off the sofa with an energetic burst which Reese envied. His gaze back on nothing, he heard Harper say,

“Dude. Are you Smith? Awesome! Nice wings!”

Reese choked and rocketed to his feet. He raced to the door and blinked in shock.

Smith tilted his head curiously at seeing Reese’s intensity.

“What?”

“He…” Reese pointed to Harper and mouthed, “
Did he say

‘wings’
?”

“No. He said rings.” Smith held up one hand, wiggling his fingers.

Harper ran his hand over Smith’s chest seductively. “You’re hot. Can I suck your cock?”

Reese grabbed Harper’s shoulder and tugged him back. “Go. Sit.”

“Dude…” Harper pouted out his lower lip.

Reese stood in front of Smith. “I’m sorry I freaked. I think I was imagining things.”

Smith touched Reese’s jaw. “Still smooth. But Hera doesn’t work that subtly. You’d have breasts by now.” He looked inside the room. “Am I intruding?”

“No. Come in.” Reese rubbed his chest in paranoia, closing the door. He followed Smith and noticed him and Harper checking each other out.

Smith seemed to snap out of a daydream and faced Reese,

“Anyway…about us.”

“Yes?” Reese melted the moment Smith came into the room. Smith had that effect on him.

“I need to know. Is ten days enough time to decide?”

“Decide?”

“On marrying me.”

Harper made a noise, like a chortle or cough.

Reese disregarded it but Smith walked closer to Harper.

“A little young Pan. Where are your goat hooves?”

“Huh? Dude.” Harper looked at Reese. “And Cybil thinks I get high too much.”

“Sibyl? The prophetess?” Smith asked.

Reese rubbed his face at seeing two worlds collide, neither of which he felt a part of. His mobile phone rang and Reese tried to find it. He picked it up. “Hey.”

“Hey. What are you up to? Did you get any writing done?”

Reese stared at Smith as he sat beside Harper on his sofa.

“No. I’m seeing that guy that I met on the beach.”

“Which guy?” Elvis asked.

“The one playing volleyball. The long haired guy.”

“Really? You made a date with him? I thought something about him scared the crap out of you that day.”

“Yeah. It did.” Reese shook his head.

~

Adonis tried to listen to the conversation Reese was having on the phone, but the little Pan was distracting him.

“You’re hot. Are you a celebrity or something?”

“No. Yes. Yes, I am.” Adonis nodded, remembering he was supposed to be.

“Do you care if a guy is under eighteen?”

“Do I care? No. Why should I? What is all this concern with numbers? I have never seen anything like it.” Adonis looked back at Reese who was still speaking into his phone. He knew Doug and Heath were going to be at his house soon and he wanted to straighten out things with Reese first. Adonis got knocked back on the sofa when the young blond mortal landed on top of him. Adonis blinked and stared into his blue eyes.

“I’ve been looking for a man like you. One that doesn’t care how old I am.”

The young thing began kissing Adonis’ neck and grinding on him passionately. He coughed in surprise and caught Reese just noticing what was going on.

“I’ll call you back!” Reese put the phone down and picked Harper up from behind.

“Dude!” Harper moaned seductively. “He’s amazing.”

“Come on. Time to go.” Reese carried him to the door.

“Marry me, Smith!” Harper yelled as Reese shoved him into the hall, closing the door.

Adonis pointed towards them. “Well, at least someone wants to marry me.” He sat up and ran his hand through his hair. Reese stood with his back to the door. Behind him he could hear Harper yelling, “I love you, Smith! I love you! Marry me!”

and the door was being pounded by Harper’s fists.

“What did you do to the kid?” Reese’s eyes went wide.

“Nothing. I’m the god of desire, what do you expect?”

Adonis stood and sauntered closer to Reese. “But my charm doesn’t have the same effect on you as it does a young one.”

“It does. Are you kidding? I’m smitten. I don’t want anyone else, I can’t think of anyone else, and I’m terrified.”

“Can I suck your cock?” Adonis purred against Reese’s lips, mimicking the young man’s question intentionally.

“Oh, hell yes.”

He pushed Reese backwards so he leaned against the door, and lowered to his knees.

~

Marry you? Marry you? Do I want to marry some crazy guy
with wings who claims to be ‘the’ Adonis? Yes! No. Yes! No.
Adonis drew Reese’s zipper down and enveloped his cock into his mouth.

“Yes.” Reese spread his legs and leaned his head back on the door. Behind him he could hear Harper’s soft whimper and occasional moan of, “Marry me…I love you, Smith!”

After a dry swallow from his nerves, Reese peered down. Had he ever met a man like this?
No. What am I looking for?

He’s all that! All that and more
.

~

Adonis knew with Echo distracting Hera, he had time. He tugged on Reese’s pants, pulling them to his feet. Reese stepped out of them and was able to straddle wide for him. Moaning at the taste of his man—yes,
his
mortal man—

Adonis left the length of his cock and began enjoying his shaven balls. He had never encountered a man who shaved off his pubic hair, but certainly didn’t dislike it. With long wet laps he licked those dangling treasures and the skin connecting them to Reese’s body.

Reese was sinking, sliding down the door to the floor, groaning in a lovely masculine way that Adonis adored. Hearing the tiny sounds of the little Pan outside in the hall, Adonis wet his fingers and made a circle around Reese’s rim. A deep low moan was his reward. Reese dropped down to his bottom and spread his legs wider than Adonis thought possible of a mere mortal man.

Reese stripped his own shirt over his head, grabbed Adonis around the nape of his neck and pulled him to his lips. They rolled around the soft carpet, twirling tongues and running hungry fingers all over each other.

Reese tugged at Adonis’ clothing, trying to get it off his body. Adonis knelt up, removing his shirt and wriggling out of his pants. They lunged at each other and continued to rub crotches and suck on tongues frantically as if they couldn’t get enough. And Adonis could not.

After one tumble where Reese was on top, he parted their mouths and said, “Come to my bed.”

Adonis couldn’t think of a lovelier enticement.

Standing, they clasped hands and made their way to a dim bedroom. Thick curtains were drawn over the windows, blocking out the late summer sunshine.

A musky cologne scent in the room added that touch of manliness to the bold black, white, and dark brown design of pillows, bedspread and abstract wall hangings.

Adonis lay back on the soft bedding and reached out in invitation. Reese removed items from his nightstand drawer and climbed between Adonis’ legs, burrowing into his groin. Adonis exhaled deeply and bent his knees, inviting more. Getting a tongue bath worth remembering, Adonis caught his breath and tried to recall if any of the goddesses had licked him…where Reese was licking. No.

Reese grew more eager, pushing his mouth against Adonis’

rim. A tongue darting in and out of him made him crazy. “Marry me!” Now he sounded like Pan.

Reese sat on his heels and wiped his face with his forearm.

“I’m tempted. Damn—you taste like honey everywhere.”

“Sit on this, will you?” Adonis pulled on his cock.

“My pleasure.” Reese reached for something on the nightstand. When his cock was sheathed, Adonis drew back into the pillows. “No. What is that?”
