Nicholas Ferrar (1592–1637). Often critically referred to as ‘the Arminian Nunnery’, from the title of a scurrilous pamphlet published in 1641, the household ordered its life by a set pattern of spiritual devotion with daily services, also paying attention to the study of theology and the practice of daily work.
