. Tobit contains the story of the righteous Tobit whose sight was restored after his son Tobias had been guided by an

. It became a favourite subject in Christian art, often with Tobit's dog (5. 16), the only one mentioned favourably in the Bible.

Tohorah
(Heb., ‘purification’). The Jewish ceremony of washing the dead before burial. The justification for tohorah is the Ecclesiastes verse, ‘As he came, so shall he go’ (5. 15).
