(Skt., ‘threefold sheath’). The Hindu analysis of appearance in terms of a metaphysic of relationships. If there is one field of reality, nevertheless it exists or appears in the relationship of subject, object, and the relation between the two—as lover, beloved, and love created between them. In Hinduism, such a metaphysic of perception contributes to illusion and has to be transcended.
