ammad from his enemies, he never converted to Islam. It was his son

, raised by the Prophet, who brought fame to his name.

One of the earliest converts to Islam, he distinguished himself by his piety, intelligence, bravery, and devotion to the Prophet

. The Prophet nicknamed him ‘al-Amin’ (The Trustworthy), and promised him paradise. He conquered
Damascus
, Hims, Antioch, and Aleppo, and successfully administered those territories. He died of the plague which claimed the lives of many Muslim warriors.
