I look at this tall model. She has a disposition about her that I just don’t like. My body gets tense. I have to use my powers of deception and not let on that I am scared. I fake a nice, wide smile and ask her. “Your accent is alluring. What country are you from, Nikita?”

“I am from the Ukraine,” she says.

Bullshit. Now I am sure she is lying.

I take my phone out of my pocket. I ever so covertly snap a photo of her and type a message to my boss, “
Met woman at club. She speaks with Odostan accent.
” I surreptitiously send the message to Mr. Peak and finish off that glass of wine.

I am almost certain that someone from Odostan is trying to kidnap me to get at my boss. But who? The old dictator is dead. Could it be Mr. Peak’s new ally General Zhukov? I keep a good eye on this woman. Perhaps she is acting as a lookout while the kidnappers plan their strike.

The music begins to really start pumping. Models get on the dance floor. Nikita stands up and starts to shake her hips to the music. She saunters up to me and grabs my hand. I nearly swat it away. Then a little voice whispers in my head, “Be deceptive. Don’t let her think you know anything about her.”

I get up and begin to dance with this tall babe. She looks down at me with a smile that sends chills up my spine. My instinct tells me that I am in imminent danger. I think about running out. But I can’t leave yet. I need to get as much information as possible so Mr. Peak can uncover his enemy.

As we dance, I check an incoming message from Mr. Peak, “
Received photo. Will have woman identified soon. Stay alert.
” I place the phone back into my purse and continue to dance with Nikita. She grabs me by the hips. I grab her by the hips. But my move isn’t affectionate. I want to feel her up for any weapons she may have on her.

The music get faster and the dancing becomes more manic. I feel the heat beginning to rise in my head. This woman is much bigger than me and, by the looks of her sculpted arms, could easily snap me in two.

I panic. I move away from her. She smiles and moves towards me. I look at her and say, “I have to go grab a drink.” Nikita just stands there for a moment and let’s me go. I disappear over to a bar to grab a much needed refreshment. Since I am hot and nervous, I opt for a glass of cool water to calm me down.

I reach into my purse and pull out my cellphone. There is a message from Mr. Peak. “
Woman is Veronika Luka - an assassin loyal to Sergy Molidak. GET AWAY FROM HER!!!
” I re-read the message. I look at the crowd. I can’t find Nikita.

Fuck this. I dart around the club, looking for the exit. There are so many people and so many bodies that I begin to hyperventilate. I find a line to the women’s bathroom. I cut in front of everyone and rush inside.

The bathroom is crowded with girls. Some of them are doing their make-up. A few of them are doing coke off of their vanity mirrors. I need to get out of here. Then I look down at my fingernails. Those carbon fiber claws at the end of each finger. I think about Mr. Peak. He is the real one being targeted. I am the one who is supposed to help him. If I escape now, Veronika Luka could disappear and we’ll never know Sergy Molidak’s whereabouts.

I reach into my phone and create a message for Mr. Peak, “
Will find location of Sergy from assassin. Do not worry about me
.
I’ll be fine.
” I send the message. As the women primp themselves, I calmly look at my face in the mirror. I look scared on the outside. On the inside, I am ready for war.

I walk out of the bathroom and wander back onto the dance floor. As I maneuver through the crowd, I feel a strong hand take hold of my right arm. “There you are!” Veronika says with a wide smile. “I thought you disappeared on me.”

“It’s very easy to get lost in this club.”

“Indeed. We need to find some privacy.”

“What do you have in mind?”

Veronika whispers into my ear. “Let’s go back to my hotel room.”

Now, I start to get nervous. I need to get information from her. But under no circumstances do I want to leave the club.

I whisper in Veronika’s ear, “I can’t leave right now. Maybe later.”

The tall assassin looks at me. I don’t like the look on her face. She is no longer smiling. I start to pull myself away from her. She grabs me by the neck and whispers into my ear, “You will walk with me or I will snap your neck.”

Oh God! What did I get myself into? Veronika begins to slowly guide me to the back of the club. She pushes me through a strange door and leads me to a restricted “employees only” area.

“Hey, you girls can’t be back here,” a loud male voice yells a few feet behind us.

Veronika turns around and says, “Fuck off!”

“What did you say to me?!” the loud male voice booms.

I turn around and see that tall seven foot bouncer staring down Veronika.

The Odostan assassin throws me to the side. She walks up to the bouncer and drives her right hand right into the bounce’s thick neck, dropping him like a sack of potatos. The assassin drops to her knees and starts to choke out the bouncer. This is my only chance to make a break for it! I run off.

I run down the maze of hallways, looking for a place to hide. Dammit. I can’t find an exit around here. The restricted area of the club is a labyrinth of dimly lit hallways and tiny offices. I open a door and hide inside of a utility closet.

I grab my cellphone and send my emergency message to my boss, “
XXX. HELP!!!
” As I tap on the iPhone screen, I can hear Veronika’s footsteps right outside the closet. I look under the door and see the shadow of her feet. She is standing on the other side of this door.
She knows I am in here.

What is she doing? Why isn’t she opening the door? After a few seconds of silence, I hear her talking. “Hello. Yes, I have her. She will be coming with me. Tell Sergy that we will rendezvous with him in the Caymans by zero five hundred hours.”

That’s it. Sergy is alive and in the Cayman Islands! I grab my phone and begin to type the message to Mr. Peak, “
Sergy is..
” Just as I begin to tap the letter “
C
,” the door swings open, Veronika grabs me by the neck and slams be onto the ground.

I feel the tall assassin get on top of me. I try to kick myself out from under her. She punches me on the top of my head. “Stop moving!” she growls. Veronika pulls my arms behind my back. She binds my wrists with a rope from inside the utility closet.

The woman pulls me up and sits me down against a wall. She stands over me and looks down. Then she picks up the phone and tells the person on the other end of the line, “Bring the truck around.”

My heart races. What can I do? As I try to wrestle free from my restraints, I inadvertently scrape those carbon fiber fingernails against the rope.
These fingernails can cut the rope.
Now, I know I can escape. I just need to cut through the rope without detection. I look up at Veronika, who is monitoring the area around her, as I begin to slowly cut the rope with those razor sharp fingernail claws.

Even if I can free myself, this woman is no one to mess with. She just dropped a seven-foot, four hundred pound bouncer without breaking a sweat. I nervously scrape and cut through the ropes as the assassin checks the hallway.

“Where are you taking me?” I ask softly.

“Shut up!” Veronika yells as she kicks me in the thigh.

“Does Sergy miss me?” I taunt.

Veronika grabs me by the neck and chokes me. “Don’t worry. You can ask him personally. And trust me. When you do see him, he will spend lots of time with you. He will mutilate you in the worst way possible.”

“I thought I was only supposed to be a hostage.”

“Trust me, darling. You will be used as a hostage. We will do horrible things to your face and send the photos to Mr. Peak. If he values your life, he will transfer the oil money back to Sergy. If Mr. Peak delays, we will get really creative with our torture techniques until he relents.”

I look at this woman and I know she is not kidding. She is from a part of the world where torture is part of everyday life.

“Mr. Peak will find you. He will find Sergy. You don’t know who you are dealing with,” I say as I try my best to hold back my tears.

The assassin laughs and leans right into me. “No. You don’t know what you are dealing with! Do you think we are scared of Mr. Peak? Once we get the money, I will cut your fucking throat. Then, I will fly back to the United States, climb through Mr. Peak’s bedroom window and rip out his fucking heart.”

“Fuck you!” I scream in a rage that just explodes out of me. I lunge at the assassin and violently bite into the side of her face. I feel my teeth sink into her skin and muscle tissue. Veronika falls backward in complete shock as blood spills from the side of her face. My fingernails cut through the rope. I lunge forward and proceed to punch and thrash at the woman who said the one thing that should never be said to me -
no one threatens my man!

I grab that bitch by the neck and punch her in the face.

“You fucking cunt!” I yell as I repeatedly punch her. I stand up and drive the spiked heel of my boot right down on her right hand. I grind the heel down on her hand until she screams. Then I look down at that boot and see the pen. The pen with the five inch blade.

I reach down and grab the pen. I click the button, releasing the blade. “I will fucking kill you!” I scream as I raise the weapon over my head. I get down on my knees. I see the fear in her eyes. I wait a second just to savor the moment.

I drive the blade down. Then I am suddenly hit from the side. I feel two large men on top of me. “Dammit!” I scream. “Let me go. I want to kill that bitch!” I yell from the top of my voice.

One of the men puts his hand over my face. “It’s okay, Sarah. Stop. Stop. The NYPD is here. They are putting Veronika into custody.”

I punch and kick at the men who turn out to be the “Wolves” employed by Mr. Peak. Little did they know that they would have to protect the kidnapper from me. The large ex-Special Forces soldiers hold me down with all of their strength. I watch as the NYPD handcuff and arrest Veronika. My body and my mind are an eruption of homicidal rage. It’s not enough that Veronika is going to jail. She is not allowed to live on this Earth as long as she wants to bring harm to Mr. Peak!

The “wolves” hold me down as I rage and curse. The security men sit me up so the NYPD can interview me. The police officers are really nice and even seem a bit starstruck. The security men stand me up and escort me through the rear of the club.

Outside, an armoured Mercedes van is waiting for us. We get inside. I look down at my hands and see blood on my fingertips. I scratched up that bitch. It upsets me that I was not able to put an end to her.

The van speeds back to Mr. Peak’s townhouse. We get there and the damn paparazzi are waiting for us. There is so much energy inside of me that I want to just pound on all of those photographers. The wolves get out and deal with the intrusive media without causing anymore incidents.

I am escorted into Mr. Peak’s residence. The big man himself is waiting for me at the foyer. I run up into my boss’s arms and wrap my legs around his waist. I start to kiss his neck and his face. Mr. Peak holds me with such a grip that I know the devil himself couldn’t hurt me.

“Good work, gentlemen,” Mr. Peak says to the mercenaries.

“We’ll patrol the perimeter until you give us the ‘all clear’ code, Mr. Peak,” one of the wolves tells my boss. The mercenaries leave us alone. Mr. Peak carries me over to the parlor room and sits down on one of the leather sofas.

My boss grabs my head and forces me to look him in the eye. “Why did you disobey me when I told you to get away from the assassin?”

Tears roll down my cheeks. My lower lip quivers as I look at my boss. “The Cayman Islands.”
