Hockey fans in Moscow liked autographs as much as Canadian fans did, and it was great to meet and mingle with some of them in Red Square.
A good luck telegram all the way from my hometown to Moscow. It was so uplifting to know a whole country was behind us.

After The Goal was scored, the kids (and Wendy Sittler, who was watching them while we were gone) were besieged by autograph hunters. They finally had to put up a sign “We have
NO
autographs left!” Jill, the youngest, is in front, with Heather in the back in the middle, and Jennifer.

It was back to Russia for the 1974
WHA
Series, and young Russian fans wanted to meet some of us. On the left is Mark Howe, then Tom Webster, and on my right, Ralph Backstrom.
I got called up to the Atlanta Flames in 1979–80 for one more taste of the
NHL
.
