  “Yet.”

  “And until they do, my job is to watch and wait.”

  “What if they’re trying to break in?”

  “I doubt it. It looks like some kind of meet.”

  “It could be something to do with drugs.”

  “The first car is flashing its headlights. The second one is flashing its headlights back. Someone is getting out of the first car. It’s a couple, he’s about thirty, medium build, she’s a bit younger, mid-twenties. Now a man is getting out of the other car. He’s got a bald head, he’s overweight, about fifty.”

  “Is he alone?”

  “Yes. He’s approaching the couple now. She’s slipping off her summer dress. She’s completely naked.”

  “What?”

  “Don’t you get it? These aren’t criminals or fly tippers. It’s a dogging meet and it’s happening right now, live before my very eyes.”
