Ephesians 1:1-23

1
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2
 grace
be
to you, and peace, from God our Father, and
from
the Lord Jesus Christ.

3
 Blessed
be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly
places
in Christ:
4
according as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5
having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6
to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7
 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8
 wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9
having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10
 that in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth;
even
in him:
11
in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12
that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13
 In whom ye also
trusted,
after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14
which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

15
Wherefore I [Paul] also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16
 cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18
the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19
 and what
is
the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20
which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set
him
at his own right hand in the heavenly
places,
21
far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22
 and hath put all
things
under his feet, and gave him
to be
the head over all
things
to the church,
23
which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Psalm 66:1-20

To the chief Musician, A Song
or
Psalm.

1
Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:

2
Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.

3
 Say unto God, How terrible
art thou in
thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

4
All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing
to
thy name. Selah.

5
Come and see the works of God:
he is
terrible
in his
doing toward the children of men.

6
He turned the sea into dry
land:
they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.

7
He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.

8
O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:

9
Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

10
For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.

11
Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.

12
Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy
place.

13
I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,

14
Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.

15
I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.

16
 Come
and
hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

17
I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.

18
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear
me:

19

But
verily God hath heard
me;
he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.

20
 Blessed
be
God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

Proverbs 23:25-28

25
Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

26
My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

27
 For a whore
is
a deep ditch; and a strange woman
is
a narrow pit.

28
She also lieth in wait as
for
a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.

Isaiah 41:17–43:13

17

When
the poor and needy seek water, and
there is
none,
and
their tongue faileth for thirst, I the L
ORD
will hear them,
I
the God of Israel will not forsake them.

18
I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree,
and
the pine, and the box tree together:

20
That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the L
ORD
hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

21
Produce your cause, saith the L
ORD
; bring forth your strong
reasons,
saith the King of Jacob.

22
 Let them bring
them
forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they
be,
that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

23
Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye
are
gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold
it
together.

24
 Behold, ye
are
of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination
is he that
chooseth you.

25
 I have raised up
one
from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as
upon
mortar, and as the potter treadeth clay.

26
Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say,
He is
righteous? yea,
there is
none that sheweth, yea,
there is
none that declareth, yea,
there is
none that heareth your words.

27
 The first
shall say
to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

28
 For I beheld, and
there was
no man; even among them, and
there was
no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

29
 Behold, they
are
all vanity; their works
are
nothing: their molten images
are
wind and confusion.

42:
1
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect,
in whom
my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

2
He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

3
A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

4
He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

5
 Thus saith God the L
ORD
, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

6
 I the L
ORD
have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

7
To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison,
and
them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

8
 I
am
the L
ORD
: that
is
my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

9
Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

10
 Sing unto the L
ORD
a new song,
and
his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

11
Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up
their voice,
the villages
that
Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

12
Let them give glory unto the L
ORD
, and declare his praise in the islands.

13
 The L
ORD
shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.

14
I have long time holden my peace; I have been still,
and
refrained myself:
now
will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.

15
I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.

16
And I will bring the blind by a way
that
they knew not; I will lead them in paths
that
they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

17
They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye
are
our gods.

18
Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

19
 Who
is
blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger
that
I sent? who
is
blind as
he that is
perfect, and blind as the L
ORD
's servant?

20
Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

21
 The L
ORD
is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make
it
honourable.

22
 But this
is
a people robbed and spoiled;
they are
all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.

23
Who among you will give ear to this?
who
will hearken and hear for the time to come?

24
Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the L
ORD
, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.

25
Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid
it
not to heart.

43:
1
But now thus saith the L
ORD
that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called
thee
by thy name; thou
art
mine.

2
When thou passest through the waters, I
will be
with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

3
 For I
am
the L
ORD
thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt
for
thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

4
Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

5
 Fear not: for I
am
with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

6
 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

7

Even
every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

8
Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

9
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say,
It is
truth.

10
 Ye
are
my witnesses, saith the L
ORD
, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I
am
he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

11
 I,
even
I,
am
the L
ORD
; and beside me
there is
no saviour.

12
I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when
there was
no strange
god
among you: therefore ye
are
my witnesses, saith the L
ORD
, that I
am
God.

13
 Yea, before the day
was
I
am
he; and
there is
none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
