L
ORD,
I pray my husband and I will grow more together every day and not apart. Help us to see the things that separate us or drive a wedge between us. Enable us to have the same mind. Thank You that You have given us the mind of Christ. Help us to daily welcome and embrace that connecting of mind and spirit with Yours. Where we have in any way gone our separate ways, I pray You would bring us back together on the same path. Help us to be like-minded so that we do not allow anything to come between us.

Enable us to always choose to be on the same team and not on opposite sides. Where we disagree on serious matters, help us to find our common ground in You. Help us to always choose Your way over our own. Teach us to choose each other and our marriage over anything else. I pray we will bring You joy by being “like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind” (Philippians 2:2). I pray that You, “the God of patience and comfort” will enable us “to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,” so that we may “with one mind and one mouth glorify” You, Lord (Romans 15:5-6).

In Jesus’ name I pray.

When I Need to Know Good Things Are Ahead

Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
nor have entered into the heart of man
the things which God has prepared
for those who love Him…
Now we have received, not the spirit of
the world, but the Spirit who is from God,
that we might know the things that have
been freely given to us by God.

more for us than we can imagine. Sometimes we let our sights become so low that we can’t imagine much. We think if we can just survive this challenging situation we are in, it will be a miracle. There are other times, however, when we can imagine so much that it’s amazing to think God could possibly have more for us than that. The truth is that no matter what we are going through, we always have something to look forward to because God is in control of our lives. In fact, when we go to be with the Lord, we are going to be amazed that we worried so much and prayed so little on earth.

As a wife, you need to have an understanding deep in your heart that there is always hope, no matter what the challenges are, no matter how difficult the impasse, no matter how hopeless things may seem. But it takes the Holy Spirit of God
in
you to help you comprehend the great things ahead. And without the Holy Spirit, you can’t receive all God has for you.

When you welcome the working of the Holy Spirit in you, it opens up your life for blessings—both individually and as a couple—beyond what you can possibly see now. In the Lord, the best is yet to come, even though there are many times when that seems impossible to imagine. As you continue to stay close to God in prayer and worship, and continue to trust Him for each day, He will speak to your heart about the good things ahead for you.

My Prayer to God

L
ORD,
I pray You would give me a vision beyond myself and my limitations—beyond what I can see or imagine—so that I can grow in understanding of all You have for me in this life and the next. Bestow upon me a new gift of faith in Your Word and a greater understanding of its meaning. Enable me to receive a revelation that assures me I am never without hope, no matter what the situation. Thank You that You have more for me and my husband than we can imagine.

Lift my eyes from my struggles and challenges, and help me to focus on You and Your promises. Let hope rise in my heart because I trust in You. No matter what kind of impasse my husband and I may face, no matter how limited our own perspective, there is no impasse in Your kingdom, and Your perspective is unlimited. Help us to see that, even when we have a struggle between us and cannot imagine how it can ever be resolved, You have the solution and will bring it to pass as we look to You in prayer and surrender to Your will. Now to You, who are “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” to You, Lord, be all glory today and forever (Ephesians 3:20).

In Jesus’ name I pray.
