Perhaps it was an overdeveloped sense of irony that led me to choose ‘Planning the Grand Tour’ as the front cover for Rake’s Redemption. It’s hard to imagine a greater contrast than that between the happy young couple in the painting and the travails that Judith and Thomas undergo before they begin their own European odyssey with Wellington’s army in 1813. I hope you enjoyed the book.
