Is
there any way you can show me those reports?” she asked him
while the results of his climax oozed down her chest. Jada let his
flaccid member drop and went to get a towel from the bathroom. She
returned with a hot, wet towel and cleaned the love juice off both of
them. Then she sat down next to David and kissed his ear.

Can
I tell you something?” he said to her. She nodded.

No
woman has ever done that to me before,” he told her.

Seriously?”
she said. “You’ve never had a blow job before?”

Never.
I seem to have missed out on a lot.”

I’ll
try to see you make up for it all,” she said cuddling up to him
again. “I can’t believe you saved so much for me.”

You
were worth every drop,” he told her. “I haven’t
regretted a thing.”

They
spent the evening talking about financial investments and future
income streams. David had found the part of him that was missing and
so had Jada. She could talk about elementary atomic particles and he
would listen in rapture. He would talk about the first few years of
his company and how his nervousness with women had caused him to hit
on an idea for engineers and computer programmers to meet members of
the opposite sex.

He
showed her the Jacuzzi later in the evening. They relaxed in it
watching TV and he washed her back. She washed him too, but he got to
have her sit on the edge where he could soap her up before taking her
into the water. Jada told him it was the first time anyone had bathed
her since she was a little girl and she couldn’t wait for him
to do it again.

Do
you know tomorrow is Monday?” she said to him after he’d
brought her some wine in a goblet. She took a sip of it and then let
him try some.

Which
means we go back to our real lives,” he told her. “I
don’t want to keep doing that. I’ve had enough of the
other reality. I would like this one to last.”

David
embraced her in the hot waters of the Jacuzzi. He had turned on the
bubbles so she could feel them all over her. She had leaned back in
his arms again and he was gently touching her hair. She sighed as he
nuzzled her neck.

God,”
he said,” I do love your hair. It’s so beautiful. It’s
so, so nappy, I just love it.”

He felt
Jada stiffen up in his arms. She pushed him back and slid to the
other side of the Jacuzzi, rising up in the water looking at him with
fire in her eyes. David realized he had just crossed a line of some
sort and would pay dearly for his mistake.

David,”
she said, her eyes flaring. “You are never to use that word
around me again, do you understand?”

Now
there are many things bad in this world, but one of them is a naked
black woman with enormous breasts standing up to her waist in a tub
of hot water with foam boiling around her. David would later reflect
that nothing had killed his erection faster than seeing the woman he
was deeply in love with angry. Jada put her arms on her hips and
looked into his eyes with a laser beam that burned into his brain. He
had two choices before him and neither was very good. But if he did
nothing, he would lose her for sure and he couldn’t allow that
to happen.

I
said something wrong to you,” he stated, trying not to seem too
meek. Show too much submission and she would look down on him. Show
nothing and she would think him to be using her. He needed to find a
way to make things right between them this very instant and bring
back the love. “I want you to tell me what it was and make sure
I don’t do it again. Jada, we come from different places. I’ll
continue to make mistakes if you don’t help me avoid them.”

He saw
her anger decrease by a fraction. It wasn’t much, but it was
headed in the right direction. Her eyes softened a bit and her
breathing slowed down. The fire in her eyes dimmed somewhat. He had
to let her speak.

There
are things you are never to speak of, do you understand?” she
began. “There are words you are forbidden to ever use around
me, is this clear? David, I love you, but I will not tolerate certain
things being said around me. Is this understood?” He nodded and
prayed it would be enough.

It
wasn’t.

She
lowered herself back into the water and continued to look at him with
a level of anger that would not go away. He had to be careful. This
was going to happen sooner or later.

I
will give you a list right now,” she told him. “There are
some words I am going to say to you that will never be repeated, no
matter how angry you may be with me in the future. Listen closely
because this is very important. Never forget this moment.”

And she
told him every hateful racial term she could think of. Every foul
word she had ever encountered used against a black person in general
and a black woman in particular. David could see the pain it sent
through her saying them and he felt the agony it caused her to say
them. Some things are left unwritten even if they were experienced.

And then
Jada was quiet. So was David. He wanted to go to her and feel her
body next to him, know the anger was gone, was seeping away. But he
couldn’t do it. He didn’t want her to think him a
weakling eager to gain favor with her for sex. He loved her and was
afraid anything he did at that very moment could ruin it all. They
were coming down from a beautiful weekend, why had he been so stupid
to say that to her? Inside, he was working himself over with a cane,
calling himself every kind of fool imaginable. He knew how proud she
was. This was the woman he wanted to have children with. But the
wrong word would destroy everything.

Jada,”
he said very slowly. “I will never use any of those words to
you and any children we are going to have.”

Her eyes
went wide again at the word “children” and she waded
through the water to David, grabbing his face and planting kisses all
over it. He felt her anger drain into the water and seep away. But it
could always come back and he was going to remember this moment for
the rest of his life. He had found the word she needed to hear from
him, the one which showed he was ready for a commitment. She needed
to know he meant everything and the gods had smiled upon David with
his choice of words.

Children,”
she said kissing all over his neck. She repeated the word again as
she mounted him for the final time that evening and let him inside
her. David held onto her and let Jada control the love-making this
time. He had gone very close to the edge with one stupid word and
nearly lost her. He would remember it always.

They
dried off and David turned off the tub’s controls. He took her
hand and walked naked with her back to the bedroom. He told her he
would take her home in the morning and would call her first thing in
the evening. By the time they fell asleep, they had already planned
out their life together.

Chapter 7

Two days
later, Jada was spotted at her dance school being let out of David’s
SUV. The other instructors at the school were pressed to the window
when they saw the size of the vehicle she was stepping out of. They
craned their necks to see who was driving behind the smoked glass. It
was only when she walked around the to the driver’s side and
David put the window down to give her a good-bye kiss that they were
able to see. It had been two whole days since they had been together
before he picked her up from the apartment, so she was running a
little late that evening. He almost had to call in sick when David
saw her in the tight-fitting dance outfit.

Jada had
finished kissing him when she turned around to see four heads vanish
from the window. She smiled to herself and waved at the SUV as he
drove away. She walked into the studio to face a committee of
concerned dancers, all of who wanted to know the details. The classes
weren’t supposed to begin for another half hour, but the
instructors and studio owner where already there for a weekly
meeting.

So
who was behind the wheel?” was the least intrusive question she
had. Everyone wanted to know who he was and was he coming back to
pick her up that evening. She told them the name of her new boyfriend
and a few of them had heard about David on the news. Congratulations
went out all around and a few of them wanted to know if David had any
friends who were in need of female companionship. She told them yes
he would be back to pick her up and she would check on his friends’
status.

David
had a little bit better luck, casually mentioning he was seeing a
woman to his work colleges. They all wanted to know and he found a
picture of her from the studio on line. The sound of high-fives
drowned out everything else and they wanted to know if any of the
other dance instructors were interested in men who programmed.

Seeing
as how we have a company that matches people up,” David told
them, “don’t you see a disconnect between me trying to
fix you guys up with her friends?”

This
produced a small amount of grumbling and David told them they needed
to find a way to incorporate dissimilar career groups into their
dating database.

I’ve
heard for years,” he went on to say, “that ballerinas
retire at thirty due to feet problems and marry computer executives.
We need to find a way to mediate that process.” This produced
some agreements at the meeting and brought in more suggestions on how
to increase the revenue stream.

David
soon became a regular fixture where Jada taught and could be seen
sitting out in the lobby where the parents of the young girls who
were students stayed. He would spend her dance time on his tablet
computer or looking at his cell phone when not staring at her in
wonder as she taught the young girls the basic positions. If he had
an important phone call, he would take it outside or in his SUV. When
it was time for her to leave, David would greet her at the locker
room door, kiss her, and take her backpack for her. The other
instructors would gather to watch them leave and sigh.

David
waited a few weeks before bring Jada by his company. They were still
in the process of moving everything into the building the first night
he had taken her to dinner. He brought her by at lunch time when she
was between classes and introduced her to the people in the room
where he worked. He showed her his office and took her around,
explaining the importance and function of every office in the
building. Jada asked the employees questions regarding what they did,
which surprised them since most people outside of their industry
didn’t have a clue as to what they did. Everyone told her how
glad they were to meet her and how much David had talked about her.

David
kept her around later that day, because he told her he wanted to talk
to her in his office after everyone had gone home and they could have
some quiet time. When the last employee left for the day, he closed
the shades and locked the door to his office. Then he sat her down on
the couch and made love to Jada for next hour. She was a little
shocked at first, as the idea of separate work and play was in her
mind, but David was ready, having had a set of sheets and pillows
delivered earlier in the day by a courier.

I
think that was the longest time I’ve ever spent bent over a
couch for any reason,” she told him later, while they were
curled up on the couch with a sheet over them.

I
think that was the longest time I’ve ever made love in a
standing position,” he told her. “Did you enjoy it?”

Baby,”
she told him. “I’ve enjoyed everything we’ve done
together. Now let’s do it some more.”

They
didn’t leave the building for another two hours. Employees
would soon learn not to knock on the door if David’s girlfriend
had come by for a visit. He found that the shades could be lowered
quickly by an automatic system and a fold-out couch was a vast
improvement over the first one he’d purchased. Thankfully, he’d
included an executive washroom and shower into the design of the
office which only he could access. David’s office was referred
to by the employees as the “love shack” when he was out
of hearing range.

A month
later, Jada moved into David’ condominium. He dutifully
notified his association and told them they were “pre-engaged”
so it wouldn’t be an issue. Some of the older residents
grumbled, but lightened up when they saw Jada stroll by in her
leggings. She was a preacher’s daughter after all and could
charm anyone in the collection of buildings which composed his
development. David didn’t have much trouble having her live
there and he turned one room into a practice area for her and made
sure she had plenty of room for her text books.

They
became quite a fixture in the area. The light computer expert in his
SUV with his striking deep dark ebony girlfriend. Jada knew how to
dress to look good and was still on a college student’s budget,
but she helped David with his wardrobe. The people at his company
soon began to ask him where he got his clothes. He would tell them he
didn’t have a clue, his girlfriend found them for him.

All of
this had an effect on their families as well. Jada received a call
one night from one of her brothers who wanted to know who the “white
dude was she was shaking up with” was. He seemed to think she
was somebody’s mistress until she had him bring up David’s
profile on the internet. She gave him a few minutes to read it and
then waited for the apology. Not only did she get an apology, but her
brother wanted to know when the wedding was going to take place and
to be sure to name one of the kids after their parents. David had
more trouble with his parents who seemed to be more taken back by the
fact he was “living in sin” with a woman than the race of
who he was keeping company with. He assured them this was a temporary
measure and he had every intention of making Jada his wife. His
mother offered to send a minister over right away, but he told them
he would take care of it in due time.
