As for preparing the egg, this versatile gift of the food world can be transformed into so many different tasty items depending upon the numerous seasonings, vegetables, meats, or cheeses that are added, and also the type of heat used in the preparation. For instance, think about your basic scrambled eggs. If high heat is used and the eggs are stirred vigorously, you end up with brown, crumbly eggs (actually how my son, Bruce, loves them best!). With a light hand, lower heat, and more respect for the egg, you can create soft scrambled eggs with a light, dreamy texture.

fruit smoothie

FRUIT
DETOX, LEVEL 1, LEVEL 2

1 mango, peeled and seeded, or 1 cup frozen
1 small papaya, peeled and seeded, or 1 cup frozen
½ cup fresh or frozen raspberries
¾ cup orange juice
Strawberries, for garnish
Ice (optional)

Place the fruit and orange juice into a blender and process until smooth. Adjust the amount of juice to create the consistency you prefer. If you like your smoothie frozen, use frozen fruit or add a few ice cubes. Serve in wineglasses with a strawberry garnish. (

SERVES 2

fresh melon smoothie

FRUIT
DETOX, LEVEL 1, LEVEL 2

2 cups seeded ripe watermelon chunks
1 cup honeydew melon chunks
½ cup white grape juice
Juice of 1 lime
5 or 6 ice cubes

Place the melon chunks, white grape juice, and lime juice in a blender and puree until smooth and frothy. Add the ice cubes and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
