His eyes scorched her, before his mouth swooped down to cover hers in a victory kiss, as his hips moved, setting a steady rhythm in and out of her body.  Spread wide, totally open to him, Logan’s cock was in just the position to hit that jewelry with every entry he made.  The delicious vibrations spread through her body, melted her insides, sent her spiraling toward an instant orgasm.  It was like he knew it too, because when she felt the first tremor hit her, Logan shortened his strokes, hit that spot inside of her repeatedly, until she fell apart and he swallowed her scream, and brought her to another plane, as her body shook violently with her release.

Logan’s hold loosened, his pace became faster and his kiss more desperate.  Susan worked her arms from between them, opened her legs wider to welcome him deeper.  As her muscles pulsed around him, Susan’s hips worked in time with his, until his face pinched, he threw his head back to roar his release as his body vibrated, his muscles twitched, and he collapsed on top of her.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

“Wake up, Bunny,” Logan whispered into her ear, before he nipped her earlobe, which tasted like orange popsicle, his new favorite flavor.

Susan shivered and swatted his shoulder.  “Not again, too tired,” she groaned, rolling over to pull the covers over her head.  Dave never thought he’d be saying this about Susan Whitmore, but she was so damned cute sometimes.  There was a lot he was discovering about her that was unexpected.  She definitely was a lot softer than the abrasive, hardass fed he thought she was.

He slid his arm over her sticky waist and pulled her back against his amazingly hard cock.  It was amazing, because it had been that way all night long too.  Five incredible times, he’d fucked her and he still wanted more this morning.

But if they didn’t get moving, they’d miss their ride to the clinic.  Hawk was flying in to take them, but he had to get back to Houston as soon as possible to take the prince to a meeting.    “We have to get moving, baby,” he said, dropping a kiss on her orange-flavored shoulder.  His dick got harder, as memories of his popsicle torture of her floated through his mind.  That time had been epic for both of them, but a little messy.

Dave smiled against her skin.  “We have to shake and bake, baby.”

Susan wiggled her ass against him, and rubbed her foot along his thigh.  A definite sign she was awake now.  Dave groaned, and glanced at the alarm clock on the night stand.  Nope, they didn’t have time.  He sighed and flopped onto his back.

Susan rolled over and pushed her wild hair out of her face to smile at him.  She leaned down to kiss his chest, and his dick lurched toward her.  What the hell was wrong with him?  He’d never been this worked up with a woman, even when it was new with Sarah.  And Dave was afraid it was only going to get worse, which scared him.  He hugged her to him and kissed the top of her hair then pushed her away.  “We have to get moving,” he said, as he rolled to the edge of the bed and sat up.

“Can’t we spare a few minutes,” Susan whined, sticking out her lower lip.

He wanted to bite that lip very badly.  But that would just start something he couldn’t finish.  They didn’t have time. “Sorry, sweet cheeks, we’ve got an appointment with Hawk, and he doesn’t like to be kept waiting.”

“Who the heck is Hawk?” she asked sitting up, giving him a view of her beautiful, naked breasts, which were begging him to crawl back in that bed and kiss them.

“Our ride to the clinic,” he replied.

“He’s your driver?” Susan asked, moving to sit on the side of the bed.

“No, he’s my pilot.  We’re taking the bird to the clinic.  He’ll drop us off then head back to Houston.”

Susan slowly turned on the bed to look at him with wide eyes.  “Um, I don’t fly,” she said, and he actually heard a tremor in her voice.

“Why the hell not?”

“I’m afraid to fly.  If I can’t drive there, I don’t go.  I went up in a light plane with my dad, our whole family went shortly before he died, and we had a very close call,” Susan said.

“This is a helicopter, and Hawk is a former military pilot.  He’s flown into and out of some very scary situations.  If he wasn’t the best around, he wouldn’t be working for me.”

“I’m sorry, Logan, I can’t fly,” Susan said firmly, as she stood and padded toward the bathroom.

He followed behind her, and caught her at the door to wrap his arms around her.  “We have to fly, baby.  It’s too late now for us to leave and get there on time by car.  Besides, we need to make an entrance to sell our cover story, and the chopper will do that.”  Susan groaned, and he tightened his arms around her.  “I’ll be with you,” he coaxed, dropping a kiss near her ear.

“So, we’ll go down together?” she asked with a dry laugh.  That’s not very comforting, Logan.”

“It will be fine, I promise.  I won’t let anything happen to you.”

“If we do go down, there isn’t much you could do except kiss your own ass goodbye on the way down.  I’ll skip that part myself, I’ll just settle for
kicking
your ass before we hit the ground,” she threatened.

Dave squeezed her and growled near her ear, “I thought you learned your lesson about threatening me last night, sweet cheeks?  Do you need more popsicle therapy?” He nipped her earlobe and she shivered.  He thought her reaction to him was probably what had him so wound up.  When he touched her, every hair on her body stood at attention, and so did his dick.  “Cause I’d be happy to tie you up and give you as many lessons as it takes for you to get it.”

And she seemed to like to experiment with him, push the envelope to find things that pleasured them both.  Sarah hadn’t ever been that adventurous, so Dave hadn’t done that with her.  But Susan Whitmore was exciting, unpredictable and willing.  They seemed to be off-the-charts compatible in bed.  If they were that compatible out of bed…no, that would never work out, because they were galaxies apart there.

Susan sighed, and turned in his arms to put her mouth over his.  Her hands snaked around his waist to settle on his ass, and fire shot to his groin when she jerked his body against hers.  Dave dragged his mouth from hers with a groan and pushed her back.  “We really do have to go, sweet cheeks, but hold that thought.  Maybe we’ll find some time to finish this at that clinic.  We’ll be there the whole weekend, and the brochure made it look like a resort.”  He reached behind her to slap her ass hard the way she liked it.  “Now get your pretty ass ready so we can go!”  Susan sucked in a sharp breath and her eyes met his expectantly.  She smiled at him,
that
smile, and he pushed her back to stroke his aching cock.  “You are fucking determined to push me over the edge aren’t you?”  When she nodded and smiled again, Dave gave up and dragged her into the bathroom to the shower.  They had five minutes, and he could multi-task.

Dave helped Susan out of the Hummer, and held her hand as they walked toward the helicopter parked on the pad in the clearing at the back of the fifty acres that made up his compound.  They were a few minutes late, and when Hawk walked under the tail to meet them at the side of the aircraft, he didn’t look happy.  That was too damned bad, because Dave was happy.  That go-round with Susan in the shower had been crazy good, and well worth the few minutes it had cost them.  He squeezed her hand, because he could feel the tension in her arm.  She was extremely nervous, even though she had pasted on a smile for Hawk as soon as she got out of the Hummer.

“Did I tell you how hot you look today, baby?” he asked, before they got into hearing range of Hawk.   Dave figured a compliment might settle her nerves, or at least distract her.  And her ass did look good enough to bite in that black spandex dress she put on after they got out of the shower.  She shrugged off the compliment, and he saw her eyes scanning every inch of the bird, her shoulders getting tighter with every step they got closer.

He stopped and turned her to face him, knowing he was going to have to do more than that, or he might not get her on board.  “Good enough to eat,” he growled, as he shoved his hand into her hair and pulled her mouth to his.  Thank God, the tactic seemed to work.  The tension left her body, and she wilted into him, as her hand slid up to his shoulder. Dave continued to kiss her, until Hawk stopped beside them and cleared his throat.  “Think you can finish that on board, boss?  We’ve got to get moving,” he said grumpily.

Susan dropped her forehead to his shoulder and a tremor rocked her.  “I can’t do this, Logan.  I’m sorry.”

Hawk evidently heard her and Dave cringed when he laughed.  “Are you the bad ass Barracuda everyone has been telling me about?” he asked incredulously.  “This aircraft is the most sound helo you’ll ever ride in, and I’m the best pilot in the United States.  You’re safer with me in this aircraft than you ever were in that Hummer with him.  I’m a little insulted that you think otherwise.  Now, stop being a drama queen and get in the fucking helicopter.”

Head snapping up, Susan spun to face Hawk, and Logan knew things were about to get ugly if he didn’t intervene.  He may not have a ride to the clinic, if Susan unleashed the Barracuda on Hawk.  He stepped between them.  “Shut the hell up, Hawkins, and just do your job!” Dave growled, then led Susan to the passenger door.  He opened it for her and helped her inside.  “Pick a seat, Bunny.  I’ll be right back.” He slammed the door and rounded on Hawk.

Susan chose the middle of three seats in the back of the aircraft.  She should just go out the door on the other side, but she sat down and clicked the seat belt pulling the strap as tight as she could without cutting off the circulation to her legs.  Her chest felt just that tight too.  It was an effort to drag in breaths.  She looked out the window and saw Logan involved in a heated argument with the pilot.  Just what she needed, a pissed off pilot with her life in his hands.  Susan pulled her phone out of her purse and texted Logan.
Being an asshole again?  Give it a rest, would you?  We need a pilot!”

He stopped ranting, and jerked his phone out of his pocket to study it, glanced back at her and rolled his eyes.  But he relaxed, blew out a breath and spoke to Hawk in a calmer tone, then patted him on the shoulder.  Dropping her phone back in her purse, she left it open and sat the bag beside her foot.  She might need it the way her stomach was churning, and they hadn’t even left the ground.    Logan opened the door and ducked inside to sit beside her and click his seatbelt.  He smiled at her, but it didn’t reach his eyes.  He grabbed her hand where she was white-knuckling the arm rest.  “Relax, Bunny.  Hawk is going to fly low so you can see the ground and buildings, okay?  If you get freaked out, he’ll set down somewhere and we’ll drive the rest of the way there.”

Susan’s heart squeezed painfully in her chest, and she put her fist there to rub.  They were arguing about her, because Logan wanted to make sure she was okay.  Her eyes burned, and she quickly looked out the other window.   That was so damned sweet, but probably wasn’t going to help a thing.  “You didn’t have to argue with him for my sake.  I’ll survive.  I hope so, anyway,” she said with a near hysterical laugh as the engine whined and the rotors started spinning.  The helicopter lifted, her stomach lurched, and her knees shook when it started forward.  The shaking crept up her body until her teeth were chattering, her whole body vibrated with it.  Logan squeezed her hand, but that didn’t help.

“Breathe, baby, we’re almost at altitude,” he said in a soft soothing tone, she could barely hear over the hum of the engine.

Susan’s breath came out in a rush, as her chin dropped to her chest and she squeezed her eyes shut to pray, something she hadn’t done nearly enough lately.  A few minutes later, it felt like they’d leveled off, and Logan reached into her lap to undo her belt.   She stumbled, and almost whacked her head on the roof when he pulled her out of her seat.  He eased her into his lap and wrapped his arms around her waist tight.

“Kiss me, sweet cheeks,” he growled, as he leaned in to brush his mouth over hers.

Susan’s heart squeezed again, then did a strange little leap in her chest.  Logan was trying to distract her again, and she definitely wanted to kiss him for that.  Really wanted to, and not for the usual reasons.  She held his face in her palms and made a couple of light passes over his lips, before she slid her arms around his neck and shoved her hand into his hair to pull his mouth closer, go deeper with her tongue.  She didn’t know how long they kissed, Susan just embraced his warmth, sucked from his fount of calm, and let him sooth her with his touch until he dragged his mouth from hers and smiled.  “As much as I love making out with you, you need to get in your seat now.  We’re about to land.”

Surprised, Susan scrambled off of his lap and sat in her seat to put her seatbelt back on.    She reached over and grabbed his hand to lace her fingers through his.  He smiled at her, and squeezed.  “We’re almost there, Mrs. Lawrence,” he said then his eyes widened.  “Oh, crap, I forgot!” he said letting her hand go to reach into his pocket.

Logan pulled out a blue velvet box, and Susan’s heart skidded to a stop, then did a rubberband bounce to her toes and back when he opened the box and she saw what was inside.  A ring with a yellow square-cut diamond the size of a walnut, set in the middle of diamonds that were the size of normal solitaires.  Her breath stuck in her throat as he pulled it from the box, and grabbed her hand.  Susan felt like she was in an alternate universe, like someone was walking over her grave as her blood rushed to her head when he slid it over her knuckle onto her finger.   Logan added a matching wedding band, and Susan couldn’t find her voice.   All she could do was stare at it, and try to peel her tongue off the roof of her mouth.  “There, till death do us part,” he said with a laugh, and a chill raced down her spine.   Logan leaned across her seat and kissed her.  “I now pronounce us husband and wife, Mrs. David Lawrence.”

The burn was back behind her eyes, but Susan sucked in a breath.  Fuck, she was not a crier.  It had been years since she cried.  Since her parent’s funeral.  But damn, she’d been on the verge of that a lot in the last few days.

Get a grip on yourself, Barracuda.  This is a job—just pretend.  Don’t make it more than it is, even if Dave Logan is doing his damndest to make you fall in love with him, do not let yourself fall into that trap.

You didn’t with Carlos, and he was lovable at times.  Even when he walked out the door of her house for the last time, Susan cared about him, but she didn’t love him.  Dave Logan was an abrasive, obnoxious, sexist pig, definitely not qualities she would ever tolerate in a man.  But he was also understanding, noble, sweet, exciting…and so fucking sexy she wanted to throw him down on the floor of this helicopter and rip his clothes off.
