She turned around, glared, and said, “I’m serious; if you don’t fuck me I’m gonna kill you.”

Blaze chuckled and then pushed a finger in her back entrance; she gasped with pleasure and then leaned back a little. Lagon was busy kissing and playing with her breasts. She felt Blaze trace her tattoo with one finger as he stretched her a little.

Trinity began panting and said, “Now.”

Blaze pulled his fingers from her and then held her hips and lined himself up. Slowly he pushed inside her as Lagon eased out of her. The contrasting feeling made her whimper and grab hold of Lagon’s shoulders tightly. She knew she was digging her nails in his shoulders but her mate only laughed and made some comment about claws. She could not have put two words together at that point so she only nodded.

They moved together in her gently. She felt their love surrounding them and wanted to hold this moment forever. They were one again, she knew with everything that was happening that the life they made was precious, as was their relationship.

“Harder,” she whispered and felt them increase their speed and as they took turns entering her body, she could feel the orgasm rising and allowed it once again to begin to flow over her. This time she would be satisfied, this time they were all coming together.

Blaze reached around and pressed on her clit and she moaned out her release, while Blaze and Lagon shouted her name. They had to have woken the whole place with their noise, but she didn’t care.

They collapsed on the bed in a tangle of legs and arms. Trinity popped her head up and said, “Holy shit. I love you two.”

Her men laughed and then pulled her around so she was settled in between them. Each of them placed a hand on her stomach and rubbed. She glowed with the love that surrounded her. They were going to make the best fathers; she thought and then chuckled to herself. And her children would never be able to actually pull one over on them, because apparently their father could hear what they were thinking. That would come in handy in the years to come. She hoped her friends’ evening was turning out as well.

Chapter 9

The Challenge would be held at the Circle. It was an old amphitheater that was made from red stone. It was built into the side of the mountains, about seventeen miles from Milliken. Quin sighed deeply, happy that they had at least chosen somewhere relatively close. Their plans would have been shot to hell if it were held much farther away.

“The Circle,” he announced and the men of the Council nodded. “So we need the cats.” Blaze stepped forward and said, “Half will go with us and the remainder will be here with Lacy and Jordan.” Quin held up his hand when Lacy opened her mouth. “I know, I know, but they will not allow witches from the Pack to come to the challenge, they think you could use your powers to help me.”

Lacy rolled her eyes. “Well that is just bullshit. Hell, if I wanted to I could put a spell on you now that would last for the whole challenge, but you don’t need it. You are gonna kick some ass.”

Quin smiled and then turned to the rest of the room. “I wish we could have made excuses for the rest of the women, especially for those who are pregnant. But it is protocol. I do have wolves bringing special seating though for you to make you comfortable. There will be a tent also for the New Council. I will say it though I know my mate will not listen. I would prefer that you all stay in the tent. No, not because you are women, because the Rogues know that if they hurt you we would die.” Cami looked at her mate and then took a deep breath. “I can’t do that.” Quin smiled at his mate and then kissed her gently. “I know. But we do have an announcement. Trinity and her mates have shared with me the good news. They are expecting.”

The girls all cheered and rushed to their friend’s side and congratulated her. The men hit each other on the back and laughed. At that point Tey stood up. “I understand there was some plan put in place last night.” And many of the women grinned. “I just want to say that Jo really was in tune last night, so we’re both a little tired.” At this, some laughed and some were wishing they had Jo’s ability. “And if you want to plan operations like that in the future, I won’t complain.” And he sat down. At least there was a small bit of happiness in the room. The stress had been almost stifling since they announced where the challenge was going to be. It made it more real for them.

“Okay. We’ve already sent excuses to Ryan and Ariel who had agreed to Jordan and Lacy’s absences along with one of their mates each. Shawn and Romy will remain behind. I don’t think Michael will notice that they’re gone.” Quin nodded and looked at Cami who was putting on her weapons belt. He grabbed her hand when she went to put her gun in it. “Alphas may not carry weapons of any kind.” She frowned and stomped her foot. “Why does everyone else get to have all the fun?” The men laughed and Cloe pulled the gun from Quin's hand and put it in her side pocket. Her bulging stomach hid the gun. “Hey, no one would dare try and pat me down.”

Teagan and Darien growled at the thought of a man touching their pregnant mate and she smiled. “See, told you.”

“We have until noon, but protocol requires us to be there at least two hours in advance.

We must greet the people who are arriving to witness,” Jaden said and looked at his watch. Because of the place the Circle was situated dusk would be earlier.

“It’s seven now, so we have a few hours to make sure everything is in place here. If Braden is planning something, it will go down here. I think Trace and Blaze were right on target when they raised the issue of the mates. He wants one of them and so far, the only ones we know for sure he has tried to contact are Lacy and Jordan. So, it’s good that they are remaining behind and unfortunately convenient too. This is why we’ll go over the plan again. The cats will be giving the compound the most protection. They won’t be expecting that.”

“Quin?” Trace said. “Is Jordan completely incapacitated? What I mean is, if we believe the compound will be attacked, wouldn’t it be better to sneak Lacy, Jordan and the babies out of the compound now and put them in a third, unknown location? The compound is just wood, glass and stone, not as important as the lives of the pack and pride members. I’ve always believed that the best way to win a fight is not to have one.” He concluded.

Cami put a hand on her mate’s arm as if to say, I’ll take this one. “We’re in agreement, Trace, the problem is, we’re not sure if Michael is the only pack member suborned by Braden. It’s just possible that any third location could leak out, and it wouldn’t be as fortified as this one. We agonized over that decision and decided we were better off here. You can bet I want my babies safe.”

“Okay, I understand,” Trace said.

Quin spoke up again, “Okay, we’re going to review Blaze’s pride plan for the compound and then Devon’s plan for the challenge. Everyone listen up.”

Braden stood looking out of his office window smiling. Today was the day. Today was the day he would take his mates and then take over the Council. Quin and his little motley crew would never know what hit them.

He’d been upset last night when they discovered that the eagle and Seer had escaped.

Roarke must have underestimated her abilities. The chains he used hadn’t been sufficient and his men had not searched her. If it hadn’t been for the fact that his plan was already in motion he may have thought about canceling it. But there was nothing to stop him now. They would never guess what he planned.

He heard his Beta step into the room and he turned. “Any word yet?”

“Of Course, Master. I spoke to Michael myself. He received the vial and will put it on his paws and claws. When he breaks Quin’s skin, the poison will flood him. It should weaken him enough for Michael to get the upper hand. If not, then he’ll signal our wolf and when he passes him, they’ll throw the dust the witch made on his coat. That will definitely weaken him enough for Michael to win it, may even force a shift. After all is said and done, Michael will call for the wolves to kill Jaden and Cami. Then the rest of the Chosen will die unless they agree to follow your lead. Of course, it’s all a distraction; we just get to benefit from killing Quin and the other Alphas. There’s a team of wolves and witches ready to take the compound whenever we give the word. I told them we would be there in about two hours.”

Braden nodded and said, “And my mates, where are they?”

“Lacy and Jordan will be at the compound with a handful of human guards. They consider the humans part of the Pack, but the challenge rules say no humans. Our problems will only be Jordan because of the casts and that the humans will most likely be armed with silver. The Warriors from the Northern Pride can’t help because their supposed to remain impartial,” Roarke said.

Braden waved his hand and said, “The humans will be no problem, we can easily overcome their kind. And Jordan, once I give her the potion from the witch she will heal quickly, then I’ll break off the casts and we can carry her out. When we return to the warehouse, Barbara will see to it she is taken care of.”

“I thought the witches said that this potion was not guaranteed,” Roarke said. He knew the answer already because he’d done his homework. Jordan was a special human. The withes were not certain, because she couldn’t be changed, whether the potion would work on her. There was no way the potion would completely heal someone from the injuries she had sustained, not on a normal human, it would at least speed up the healing. On Jordan though, the witches feared that it might actually make things worse.

“It will work,” he said confidently. “When I spoke to them, they assured me that it would work.”

Roarke frowned and looked at the man standing before him. He knew for a fact that Braden had not spoken to any of the witches, in fact, in the last few weeks he hadn’t spoken to many people. He had remained here in his office making plans for his future instead of dealing with the day to day problems. Braden seemed to have stepped out into another universe all together.

Bama woke up and looked around her. On a nearby branch sat a red-tailed hawk. It was the hawk’s call that woke her. The sun had come up, because of her injuries she had slept longer than what she would have liked. By the look of the sky, it was at least an hour past dawn. She needed to get to her loft and see if she could even make it inside.

She was not sure if Roarke and his men had found out where she lived. When she had contacted Roarke and Braden, her mother insisted on making the arrangement’s for a place for her to stay. So it was really a toss-up for her. But she had to take the chance, first of all for some clothes if nothing else. But to try and get in touch with her mother and the rest of the eagles before they arrived.

Braden and Roarke should have assumed she’d flown north to Milliken; she hoped that meant they left her loft unguarded if they knew where it was. It’s where she would have gone if she hadn’t heard about the women who were set to be kidnapped. Oh, she could have flown up there last night and warned them, but Surya would take care of that and she had intended for Bama to stay here. If Bama had gone, there would have been more questions than answers. No, she’d made the right choice. She would set her own plan in motion and when Braden retuned with the women she would free them.

Calling a thank you to the birds that apparently stood guard over her last night, Bama took off. There appeared to be a few hawks that had come to her call and made sure she was protected last night. She could tell they were guarding her from the way they were perched, not watching her, watching everything around her. She had seen it in the jungles back home. A protective instinct for birds for chicks in their care well she was four times their size but in this instance was as helpless as a chick so the help was necessary.

She flew high in the sky so she would not be seen by people waking. That would be a weird one to explain although it would be kinda funny to listen to. She could always leak to the press if someone spotted her harpy eagle that two had escaped from the Doorly Zoo in Omaha. It would at least give her a cover story.

Bama circled her loft and didn’t see anything out of place. She landed on the roof quickly and hid in the garden looking through the window to make sure no one was there. Everything looked like it was in place so she shifted.

Finally, it felt good to be back on two feet. That was part of being a shifter, you never felt whole. When she was human, she wished to soar in the skies and when she was eagle, she wished for opposable thumbs and speech. She chuckled to herself. For most of the day, she would have to be shifted. It was going to be the only way to get into the warehouse again. She walked through her sliding glass doors she had left unlocked and sighed as the warm air heated her cool skin, she quickly pulled on a robe that she’d left waiting.

A warm shower is what she needed to perk her up after she made one phone call. She walked into her bedroom and stopped short, damnit her phone was in her purse which was currently still in the possession of Braden, and since arriving she had not gotten a chance to hook up the phone. Polvo! The one time she needed to forget her phone, is the one time she didn’t! Change of plans, first a shower and clean clothes then she had to get to a phone. She would use her secret room for that. She just needed to get warm and put on some clothes. She wouldn’t want her mother seeing her look so bedraggled.

As she headed to the shower, she heard her doorbell ring. Vaina, she didn’t need interruptions right now. She went to the door and looked through the peep hole. There was an elderly lady standing outside, it must be her neighbor coming to welcome her. It went against her upbringing to be rude to a senior female; she would just have to shorten her prep time.

She opened the door, “Buenos Dias, Señora, come in won’t you? May I be of some service?” The small woman was quite short, not even five feet tall with round dark eyes.

“Hello, Bama, I am Mildred Lark and I live next door. Your mother called me when she knew you would be settling in Denver. This condominium is still in my name so you don’t have to worry about anyone finding it. I’m the Peck for the Denver Flush. Is that everything, yes, I think that’s everything you need to know right now,” she twittered in her high fluty voice.
