“Speakin’ of which,” Carter interrupted, “I hate ta break up this love fest, but let’s git the lady with the broken leg some help. Zach and Maddy are in fer the surprise of their lives.”

Logan’s voice cut in from Gracie’s radio, “We’ve got a situation developing here–night vision’s showing hunter activity. Looks like a giant pack, maybe a few hundred, are headed our way, right at your current position.”

Jack and Gracie both started issuing orders. “Get those ‘dozers fired up—” Gracie began.

Jack added, “Have John and Tina round up our squad and have Maddy—” 

“STOP!” Luke commanded. “Don’t do any such thing. Those hunters are part of the Allied Resistance. They’re my troops—they fight for us.”
