“True. And it’s not like I’d be hanging out in your bed by morning
anyway.”
“Is that so? Then you forget. This isn’t new to us Abs. I
know what you like. When I’m done with you, you won’t be going anywhere."
I gulped as a liquid heat pooled between my thighs. I
squeezed them tightly together and shrugged my shoulders, playing the part of a
dainty innocent. How had he gotten me all flustered again?
"I'm really hungry though," I insisted,
provocative, playful. My turn.
I drew close to him, seductive and inviting. Excitement
flickered in Edwin’s eyes glorious aqua eyes. I watched the colour darken and
stir before me, swirling like a thunderstorm. I stopped only inches away from
his face and gazed up into his stormy eyes. It messed with my self-control.
“Hungry for love?” Edwin wrapped his arms securely around my
waist and pulled me up close. I’d be damned if I didn’t admit it felt good to
be in his warm, protective arms again. When I caught his warm, alluring scent,
I had lost all control. My knees grew weak, and I knew if it weren't for him
holding me firmly in place, I would have fallen to the floor.
I couldn't resist him anymore. I had to kiss him. Breathless,
my eyes fluttered shut and my lips parted. Edwin tightened his hold on me then
gently brushed his lips across mine in a silent seduction. We shared a sweet breath
as our passion collided, old feelings renewed in a moment of undeniable
chemistry. His lips touched mine again, so gentle and passionate. I softened
beneath him, an unforgiving whimper escaping my lips.
His smile touched my mouth as he deepened the kiss, his
tongue softly swiping mine. He kissed me breathless, stealing my air, jolting
my heart from its sweet ache. Desperate for air, I forced myself to break away
from his mouth. Still clinging to his broad muscled shoulder and swimming with
desire, I gasped for air. I couldn't see his face, but I knew he was smiling.
I shouldn’t have let him get to me like that, and feeling slightly mortified
from my whimsical reaction, I decided it was time to throw a wrench in it.
I whispered softly in his ear, remembering his last words
before I lost myself. "I'm hungry for food."
He sighed, his disappointment obvious. "Really?"
he asked, staring me down, his eyes so warm and full of promise.
"Yes Eddie, I'm starving." I withdrew my nails
from his shoulder and smoothed them down his triangular back. I smirked at him
as I slipped my hands into the back pockets of his jeans. I raised my
eyebrows, and held them there, showing him that I’d do what I want. Then I
squeezed his irresistible butt.
He raised his eyebrows, intrigued once again. He seemed
happy that I hadn't let him go, but his eyes glazed over as he sunk deep in thought.
Then, "I know just the thing."
"Huh?"
He cupped my face and brushed his thumb over my cheek, then
dropped a delicious kiss on my mouth. "Just to change it up a bit."
Concerned, I released my hands from his pants. "I hope
you're talking food," I said. But I knew he wasn’t. I could almost
guarantee his plan was going to be trouble.
"I'm gonna go get us our pizza. It should be ready
soon. I know we've never done anything quite like this before, but just go
with it. Please Abs." He kissed me on my cheek and ran out the door. Before
I could bombard him with questions, the door slammed shut.
"Go with what?" I said softly, knowing he couldn't
hear me anymore. There was no point in trying to figure out how his wacky
brain worked. Not needing the undue stress, I flopped down on the couch and
kicked up my feet. Wow. What just happened? It had been too long since I had
felt such a spark. I forgot how it was supposed to feel.
Emotions that I had tucked away after our last breakup had
resurfaced with a vengeance. That meant trouble. Especially since Edwin made
it clear that he was only looking for a little bit of fun.
No strings
attached,
is what he said to be exact.
Interesting, Edwin used to always say that
every
man
who claims he’s
just friends
with a girl, secretly hopes that it turns
into something more. I’ve trusted that truth and it has proven to be accurate
to this day. That only means that dangerous waters lie ahead and I need to
tread carefully.
I COULD
STILL FEEL the touch of his lips on mine when I closed my eyes. My stomach
growled loudly, startling me out of my daydream, just seconds before the doorbell
rang. Was Edwin expecting company? Curious to see who it was, I hurried to
the door and peered out the sidelight.
That's peculiar.
What in the
world is he doing?
I opened the door to Edwin standing there with the pizza in
hand, leaning against the house with a ball cap pulled low over his eyes.
"Pizza delivery," he said, his voice deep and serious.
"Eddie what are you doing?"
"Delivering this pizza ma'am."
"What if the neighbours see you like this?" I scoffed.
"It says right here, 608 Stewart," he replied,
refusing to break character. "That is you, right?" he added,
pointing at the matching number on the house.
"I didn't order a pizza.” I held my lips in a pout and
stared at him unmoving. When I realized he wasn't going to give it up that
easily, I decided to up the ante. He was obviously taking his cues from this
old porn we used to watch together and it was absolutely hilarious, though I’d be
lying if I didn't admit it kind of turned me on.
"Well I'd hate for this delicious pizza to go to waste
ma'am," he said licking his full curvaceous lips.
Ahh, hell. What did I have to lose? "Actually,
suddenly I'm feeling terribly hungry. Would you like to come in?" I
asked, getting into character.
"I really shouldn't. You know, I have to work and all."
I grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him in the house,
slamming the door shut behind us.
"Okay!" he replied willingly, after I manhandled
him. He glanced around the room anxiously, as though he had never been there
before.
"Don't worry. My husband isn't expected back for
hours," I said, as I pulled off his cap and tossed it on the floor.
Pizza still in hand, he shuffled backwards, like a shy young
man trying to avoid my advances, until I had his back pressed up against the
wall.
I slid my hand down his solid abs and grabbed him through his
pants. He was already as hard as a rock. A blast of heat swept through me
again, reminding me of our passionate kiss. Edwin squeezed his eyes shut on a
sharp intake of breath, reveling in the moment, as I teased him gently with my
hand. Stealing his breath entirely, my lips lightly brushed across his, barely
touching, like a forgotten whisper.
Then my stomach growled. “Do you think maybe we could eat
first?" I asked, voice low and husky.
Edwin opened his eyes and raised his eyebrows at me,
suggesting that there was no way we were stopping now. "Screw this,"
he said, throwing the pizza onto the foyer table. Grabbing my wrist, he pulled
me upstairs to his bedroom.
I didn't put up a fight, being even more turned on by his
loss of control.
Once we got in his room, he let go of my arm. When he closed
his door, the room suddenly felt a lot smaller, hotter. He looped around me,
but I quickly walked away from him, swaying my hips as I slowly moved toward his
bed. I knew he was watching and when I glanced back, my eyes warm with
thoughtful curiosity, I saw that he was.
"You're sure you want to do this?" Edwin swiftly
closed the distance between us, his eyes burning with desire, flames licking
the air around me.
"You got this far, are you saying you changed your
mind?"
"Absolutely not. I’m all about it. As long as you're
good with it," he said, as he pulled me in tight against him.
"I'm all about it," I whispered in his ear.
He certainly was too, because I could still feel him bursting
from his pants, solid, rigid and erect.
His hands became aggressive, as he kissed me with passionate,
insatiable lips. He slipped off my shirt, not missing a breath, his lips
crashing back into mine. Desperate to feel skin on skin, I peeled his shirt
from his back. He was warm, smooth and hard all over.
We scuffled to the bed and crashed onto it, limbs tangled
together as we knocked over his bed-side lamp. Startled, we both laughed, but
there was nothing funny about the intensity in the atmosphere. A storm of sensations
continued to brew and collided around us.
Craving his touch, I directed his hands, his full weight
resting heavy on me, as his lips reminded me what I had been missing out on. I
ran my fingers through his short dark hair and pulled, trying to decipher
whether this was reality or illusion.
Smiling, “Hey.” Edwin brought both of his hands to my face
and cradled my head, before delivering an intimate, breathtaking kiss. He lowered
me onto his pillows, without ever taking his eyes from mine. "I don't
want to rush it," he whispered, hovering over me like a dark angel.
While I appreciated the gesture, I was fine with the
thrashing. Confusion balled up in
the pit of my stomach. Suddenly he wants to go slow?
Make up your mind.
"You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this Abigail."
His bold statement left me breathless, exposing that there was more to this
little escapade than he was letting on.
"What sexing me up?" I asked. I tried to stay
playful, but secretly hoped it was enough to get him to spit it out.
"Not just that, but that’s a part of it. I miss you Abs.
In every way
. And I think you know that." He laid back down on
top of me, pinning with his weight, our legs interlaced together. At that
moment, I knew he needed me as much as I needed him.
"I miss you too," I said softly.
He didn't seem convinced. "I don't want you to do this
if you're not feeling it, and it's okay if you’re not. I can handle it."
He paused, not leaving any breathing room for me. "So are you?"
I gulped to clear the lump from my throat, suddenly feeling put
on the spot. "You said no strings attached. You've got me all revved
up. You reneging now?" I asked, kissing his soft lips. I paused
thoughtfully, deciding whether I should satisfy his curiosity or just distract
him with incredible, mindless sex. I left my lips lingering close to his and
let out a sigh. "You know how I was kind of acting funny this
morning?"
"Great, you
are
ragging! That explains the mood
swings. He untangled our legs and lifted himself off of me.
"No! Will you shut up for a minute so I can tell you
this?"
"Okay, I'm sorry." He propped himself up beside me
and looked me in the eyes, giving me his full attention.
That in turn gave me a sudden loss of nerve. I looked away
and reconsidered whether I was giving up too much information in the moment. I
was certain I was only responding to his raging hormones and mine. The room fell
awkwardly silent.
"That answers my question,” he said. Crushed, he sat up
and turned away, shutting me out. “You don't have to say another word.”
“Just like that?” I said, watching his reaction. The suspense
was obviously still killing him. I crawled up next to him and took his strong
jaw in my hands, turning it toward me against his will until he was paying
close attention. "Don't freak out, but I think I still love you." I
released his face, suddenly feeling incredibly self-conscious. Shit, did I
just say that? I held my breath, waiting for his response, but mostly afraid
to hear it.
Edwin’s eyes never left my face. He had to have known that
my words were drawn from pure, raw emotion, yet he broke out in full on
laughter. Obviously I was the only one who had caught feelings.
Still smirking, "That's it? That's what you were having
such a hard time saying?"
I tried not to feel the hurt that was engulfing my heart, but
it was there throbbing at the seams.
"I love you too Abigail," Edwin said, low and sure.
My eyes widened, but I wasn’t smiling. "It’s not funny Eddie,
and I don’t think you get it. I don't love you like a friend. I love you more
than that. I still get butterflies. It's ridiculous, I know," I rambled,
angry at him and angry at myself.
His face turned serious, but his smile seemed a little too
amused for me to feel like I was in the safe zone. "I'm sorry for
laughing," he said, though he looked like he was ready to explode, his
huge smile bursting from his face.
"Ugh! I said too much," I gushed embarrassedly,
covering my eyes.
"No you didn't. I love you like that too Abs. Is it
really that surprising to you? Do you really need to hear me say it to believe
it?"
"Yes," I demanded selfishly.
"I - L-O-V-E - Y-O-U! You really don't know how hard
you've made it for me lately do you?"
The pain eased away from my heart, allowing it to pound strong
and steady, and yet I didn’t know what to say to that. So I said nothing at
all.
