“His secretary.” Kyle tapped the steering wheel without making a move to get out.

“What?” Kevin finally turned to face his brother now that the mood had changed.

“He is screwing his secretary. He has been for years. And not always the same secretary. When he’s done with one, he hires another one. Younger. Prettier. Whatever. He’s probably pissed because Mom confronted him on it.
Finally.
I didn’t think she knew for sure.” Kyle finally let the wheel go and leaned back against the seat and closed his eyes. “It’s why they fight all the time. Or, one of the reasons.”

“You knew this and never told me?” Kevin didn’t want to know. He really didn’t
but this explained the last few years of watching his parents become…Well, they were never really what he’d call the perfect couple, but they never fought much when he and Kyle were kids.

“I thought you knew. When we talked about them divorcing earlier this week, I thought you knew then. I mean I’ve known for a couple of years.” Kyle turned to face him now, surprise in his eyes.

“No. I thought…I was never sure why. I thought they’d just grown apart or something. When Mom took the job at the school, that was when it all started. Before that they argued but never really fought.” Kevin tried to trace back to the time when their lives changed. But he couldn’t pinpoint just one
aha
moment. Everything just seemed to gradually go from idyllic to awful.

“Shit.”

“What?” Kyle looked up just as their father rounded the corner from the back of the house and stopped to glare at them. “Oh. Guess we’ve been dragging our asses too long. Let’s go face the music.”

“Sure,” Kevin mumbled. He wanted to hightail it back down to Lucas’s house and pretend the last half hour was all part of some nightmare. Instead, he got out of the car and grabbed his bags from the back seat. They followed their dad into the house like a couple of prisoners being lead to their execution. Kevin dropped his book bag by the stairs. His football gear needed to go out to the laundry room.

“Kitchen. Now.” Their father said and disappeared to that part of the house. Calvin Beauchamp was a tall man, one they had to look up to despite being taller than half the guys on the team. He was physically large as well, going a bit to flab around the middle as he aged. If either of them had been born in a single birth they would have equaled his size easily. But because they were twins, born too early, they never quite got there. And he used that to his advantage when dealing with them. Over the years they’d learned to stay out of his way. Most of the time he forgot they existed, unless he’d actually witnessed one of their childhood fuckups. Which seemed to be the case right now.

“Guess the shit is about to hit the fan,” Kyle sighed and hauled his gym bag over his shoulder as he followed their father to the back of the house.

“It probably hit it last night. We just weren’t here for the splatter,” Kyle said softly, hoping only Kyle would hear him. Kyle’s abruptly squelched laugh said he’d heard.

Once in the kitchen, much of the reason for their dad’s displeasure became obvious. They’d left a mess of dirty dishes and pizza boxes everywhere. The plan was to clean everything today. So much for the grand plan.

“The two of you are how old now? Eighteen?” Calvin started. He didn’t look at them. He paced the tiled floor coming to stand beside the trash can. The beer bottles were the first thing that Kevin saw when he looked. He dug his nails into the palm of his hand to keep from groaning out loud.

“Nineteen,” Kyle said, his voice strong and steady, almost defiant. “We turned nineteen last week. You missed it. But you always seem to miss days like that, and Christmas.”

“Did I ask for your opinion on my parenting skills?” Their father’s voice boomed across the room, echoing off the cabinets. “You’re nineteen. Which is under age. And there’s at least a case of empty beer bottles in the trash. We don’t drink in this house. So…that leaves me to wonder which one of those brain donors you hang out with supplied the booze. Probably those two you were shacked up with just now.”

He began to pace again, anger oozing from every pore. Kyle lowered his head and stared at the floor. Kevin refused to feel guilty. But he wasn’t stupid enough to talk back either.

“I sell insurance for a living, and my own sons are having underage beer orgies. What do you think that will look like…”

And there it was, the only thing that mattered. How it would look if the neighbors found out. What the people down at his lodge would think. Kevin
clenched his hands tighter as anger swelled below his skin, making him itch to scream back.

“And those two little cocksuckers down the street are never to set foot in this house again…do I make myself clear?”

Kevin must have zoned out most of his rant, but he tuned back in at the last part. What the hell was he talking about?

“Do I make myself clear!” their father shouted again, when neither of them answered the first time.

“Perfectly,” Kyle growled in response. Kevin could feel his brother’s anger. Hell he could smell Kyle’s outrage. He looked over to see Kyle staring straight ahead with his gaze glued to the wall behind their father’s head. His lips pulled tight. “Is that all, Sir?”

“I want this house cleaned. And the lawn mowed. After that I’ll think of something else.” The man didn’t seem to be through yelling at them but with neither of them giving him a reason, he moved on. “I’ll be in my office.”

Kevin waited for him to pass before opening his mouth. “Are we allowed breakfast and a shower, or is that part of today’s punishment, Sir?”

“Fucking asshole kids…” He didn’t answer he just walked off, cussing them under his breath until they couldn’t hear him anymore.

“We should have cleaned up the other night.” Kyle dropped his bag on the table and sat down heavily in a chair.

“We should have hidden the beer bottles,” Kevin sighed and went to the refrigerator. There wasn’t much left to eat after a week of being on their own. “We have some stale bagels and eggs. That’s about all that’s breakfasty. I’m afraid to open the milk for cereal.”

“Cereal sounds good.” Kyle dumped their bags and took out their dirty uniforms. “I should get this in the wash.”

“Kyle, I said the milk is bad, didn’t you hear me?” Kevin closed the fridge and watched as his brother absently tossed his cleats back in the bag before picking up their washing. “Kyle!”

“What?” Kyle stopped halfway to the laundry room, he looked spooked. “He thinks I’m having sex with Lucas or Cody. He thinks I’m gay.”

“Did he say that?” How in the hell had Kevin missed that? Had he tuned out that much?

“Not exactly, but he implied as much. Why do you think he banned them from the house?” Kyle looked at the floor, the stove, the wall, everywhere but at Kevin.

“I don’t know. Because he figures one of them brought the beer, maybe?”
He wouldn’t point out that his brother had, in fact, had sex with a guy—with
him
—last night. If Kyle didn’t want to identify as gay, then that wasn’t for Kevin to argue, was it?

“Oh. Yeah. Probably.” Kyle looked confused as he ran his hand through his hair. “I need a shower and some sleep. Food would help. Is there cereal?”

“Cereal, yes. Milk, no. How about I toast some bagels and scramble some eggs?” Kevin shook his head. Kyle wasn’t himself. Maybe food and sleep would be good. Except they had to deal with the mess and the yard work. “Do you want to clean the kitchen or cut the grass?”

Kyle blinked, he looked at Kevin as if he’d lost his mind for a moment before his eyes cleared and he sighed.

“Yeah, guess there’s no naps happening today. Or a shower. We could work together and get it all done faster.”

The image of his brother wearing Kevin’s dirty jock while pushing the lawn mower entered Kevin’s mind. Stripped down to nothing but his shorts, beautiful tanned skin sweating in the September heat, grass and dirt sticking to him, Kyle would be an erotic daydream come to torture him. He stifled a groan and turned back to the fridge before Kyle could notice his reaction.

“What if I cook while you shower, and then I take the yard and you take the house?”

“That would work, yeah. Shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours to get it all done. And I have a ton of homework this weekend,” Kyle agreed. He
stopped and turned just outside the laundry room. “Hey, I…uh…I’ll keep that promise.”

“What promise?” Kevin swiped butter on two halved bagels. He had no idea what Kyle was talking about. The wink and the hip thrust was enough to have Kevin blushing. Even after all that Kyle remembered about the jock.
Fuck
. Kevin couldn’t wait for when he could get Kyle alone. His whole body went hard just thinking about Kyle all clean wearing his funky jock. “Oh, yeah. And I will check. Believe me, I will.”

Kyle laughed and the next thing Kevin heard was the washer going. Scrambled eggs and plain bagels were quick to fix, he left Kyle’s in the toaster oven to stay warm and took his egg sandwich outside. There was no use showering now, he’d just get sweaty again.

The really great thing about having a fairly large house on a small lot was there wasn’t much grass to cut. The worst thing, the fuck ton of edging with the weed-eater. Most Saturdays he and Kyle split the chore and ended up in Lucas’s pool not long after. It wasn’t really hot, at least not as hot as back in August, but Kevin had to stop several times for water, and to get out of the sun. The chore took most of the day with just him working. Kyle would come out with a load of trash or to empty the mop bucket or to bring him drink and another sandwich. Their dad would appear periodically, scowl, and stomp back into the house. He didn’t seem to be in a hurry to leave.

When Kevin put away the last of the yard tools and looked around to make sure he hadn’t forgotten anything, it seemed the sun was already getting ready to set. A cool breeze picked up as dark clouds scurried in from the North West. He went inside and let the conditioned air wash over him. God he stank, he could smell himself. No way was he going near Kyle like this. He grabbed a bottle of water from the pantry and sighed. They’d have to go to the store soon or end up eating canned green beans the rest of the weekend.

He could hear the television in the den, but he didn’t go in. Instead he went upstairs to grab a quick shower. He found his book bag on his bed along with his clean uniform and the rest of his laundry from the week all neatly folded and waiting for him to put away. Kyle had even picked up some of his mess and made his bed. God, he wanted to crawl into that bed and drag Kyle with him. But fuck, it was too small for
him
let alone the two of them together. He didn’t care. He’d slept better the last few days pressed up against his brother than he had the past few years without him.

After a fast shower he pulled on a pair of cargo shorts and went downstairs. The door to their father’s office stood open. There was no light or sound coming from inside. The house was quiet as he walked through to the kitchen. The TV in the den was down low which probably meant Kyle just had it on for noise. He glanced at the clock. The Alabama-Texas game should be on soon. They’d planned to get with friends tonight to watch it. Guess that wasn’t part of the new Kevin and Kyle grounded game. His stomach growled as he stood looking in the painfully empty refrigerator again that day.

“Fuck this shit.” He slammed the door. Angry now that they’d been treated like children. Yes, the beer bottles weren’t the best move on their part but the rest of it wasn’t fair. They’d busted their asses all week keeping up with practice, school, homework, and a game, with other bullshit thrown at them! So what if a few pizza boxes were left out?

Hunger and anger combined and sent him stomping into the den. “Let’s go out for dinner, I’m starv—" he started, but the sight of Kyle lying on the floor wearing nothing but a pair of skimpy jogging shorts while he watched the game and did homework stopped Kevin cold. The long tan body spread out before him turned his tongue to cotton. The way Kyle’s muscles moved as he flipped a page or highlighted an entry…

Kyle didn’t make a sound to indicate he’d heard a word Kevin said. He shifted one leg sliding his foot up his calf. The muscles in his thigh rolled seductively as the edge of his shorts rode up enough to expose the off white strap that hugged Kyle’s ass.

“Oh, fuck me!” Kevin couldn’t catch his breath or avert his eyes or think of anything but licking his way from the tip of his brother’s foot up to that strap.

“I thought that was the idea. If I wore your jock all day, you were going to fuck me when Dad left for the office,” Kyle said as he shifted to look over his shoulder. Kevin had to bite his tongue to keep from moaning out loud. Kyle was posing for him. Offering him his body. He licked his lips while Kevin watched, and rolled onto his hip so that Kevin could see his dick straining behind the two thin fabric barriers. “Dad left ten minutes ago. He said not to wait up.”

Kevin cleared his throat, he couldn’t seem to move, or look away. “Are you really still wearing my jock?” Fastidious Kyle would never wear dirty clothes if he didn’t have to.

“There’s only one way to find out.” Kyle leaned on one elbow and slowly slid his foot up his leg. Kevin dropped to his hands and knees to crawl the rest of the way across the den. He followed the path up the inside of Kyle’s leg with his tongue, licking and kissing his way over each muscle. Kyle planted his foot on the carpet and leaned his head back. Kevin watched as he closed his eyes. His lips parted on the first soft sigh that became a low moan as Kevin licked his inner thigh. “Stop teasing me.”
