“You don’t
really
mean…”

Yes, I do. Sit on my face.”

Her cum-soaked
pussy hung tantalizingly above his lips, and he pulled her down, drilling his tongue into her soft folds. He’d never done that before, never tasted his own juice, but Miranda’s whimpers of pleasure would have made him even more adventurous than that—the sounds she made were worth anything.
Everything
. Her hot pussy caressed his face until he found her clit and suckled it, occasionally delving inside to moisten his tongue before bathing the tight bud with his cream. When she finally cried out, he felt the tiny nub thrust against his lips, surging with the power of her orgasm.

H
er climax sent need rushing back into his loins, and he eased her backward until she was once again impaled on his dick. Pushing up into her, he bounced her on his groin.

“I like the way you think,” she whispered. “Matter of fact, I like everything about you.”

Jubilation swept through him with her words, but there was one detail he wanted to be certain about. “Even the fact that I’m such a young pup?”

Even that. A guy
my
age probably couldn’t do this again—not as quickly, anyway.” Closing her eyes, she sank her teeth into the fullness of her lower lip, but she seemed unable to stop a smile from turning up the corners of her mouth. Her head fell back, and she moved her hips in a slow, sensuous circle as though savoring the feel of him.

He wouldn’t ask her if she loved him. Not yet.
It was too soon. Even so, there was no doubt in his mind that he would be the one to say it first. He had no inhibitions whatsoever when it came to this woman. When the time was right, baring his soul would be as easy as baring his body. His only hope was that she would welcome his love as easily as she accepted his cock inside her.

A moment later, she dismounted in a move that was surprisingly graceful, considering her injuries, only to perform another laced with even more elegant eroticism. Her pussy lips beckoned as she straddled his head once again, this time facing the other direction. He had a brief moment to savor the
vision before his eyes snapped shut and he sucked in a breath as her lips pressed his cock in a salacious kiss.

“Mmm…my
incredible, edible Travis...”

Teasing his cockhead with her tongue, she cupped his balls, sending shivers of anticipation
rippling through him. She obviously didn’t mind the taste of his cum, but could he actually do it this time? Would she even want him to? As his cock filled her mouth he gave in to temptation and eased her down until his tongue penetrated her wet core. If there would ever be a time when he could come in a woman’s mouth, this ought to be the one.

She seemed to sense his problem—either that or she remembered the last time—
because she backed off, using only her hands. A crescendo of delirious pleasure ripped through him almost instantly, and he fired off a round that had to have splattered her face.

He might
’ve believed her subsequent shudder was one of revulsion had she not held onto his cock, massaging her cheek with the slick, swollen head. As her body contracted, he savored the burst of tangy wetness that followed.

To his surprise, she giggled
—a sound that ended with what was surely a gasp of pain. “It figures. The one time I really
need
to collapse on top of a guy, I can’t do it.”

As she crawled forward and reached for the box of Kleenex on the end
table, Travis scooted out from under her and sat up. “I don’t feel much like moving myself. That was like…
wow
.”

Wiping the cum from her face, she landed in a heap where his feet had been. “No kidding.”
With a groan, she keeled over onto his lap. “Stick a fork in me, Travis. I’m done.”

“No apple pie?”

She waved a dismissive hand. “Later.”

Chapter 23

Travis had never felt less like going back to work in his life—not even when he’d had the flu—and it wasn’t because he felt bad. Aside from the fact that he’d miss her like crazy, leaving Miranda home alone all day gave her free rein to do everything her doctor had told her not to do. Knowing her, she’d probably get bored and start putting new siding on the house or give the garage a good cleaning. Then there was the whole food junkie thing.

She certainly didn’t adapt well to idleness, which made him wonder if she’d still have the hots for him when she went back to work and had less time to kill.

Great. I’m making myself sound like an occupational therapy project.

He considered b
ringing her some knitting supplies to keep her busy—an idea he promptly rejected after concluding that, while she might use the yarn to tie him to the bed—certainly an interesting diversion—he didn’t even want to
think
about any alternate uses she might dream up for knitting needles.

In the end, h
e left her sitting on the sofa with a book, a cup of tea, her phone, her computer, and the TV remote, but doubted that any of those things would keep her out of trouble for long.

“Remember, absolutely no heavy lifting,” he warned after he kissed her goodbye for the third time.

“I promise I’ll be good.” Her grudging response made him long for a surveillance camera.
Unfortunately, a phone call now and then would have to suffice.

Every chance I get.

His first client of the day was one he’d never met—the horse
or
the owner—and within five minutes of his arrival, he wished he still hadn’t met her.

After her first admonition to “Call me
Lorene” when he’d addressed her as Ms. Malford, he’d decided she was the type whose attractiveness increased with distance. Blonde hair showing nearly black at the roots, she wore far more makeup than the occasion warranted, and she had a sultry, used look about her, like a rodeo honey who’d spent too many nights in the back of some cowboy’s pickup.

She’d told Travis who recommended him
when she’d made the appointment, but for the life of him, he couldn’t put a face to the name. In addition to suspecting her of making up the story, her horse was a real pain in the ass. Unruly and bad-tempered, the mare refused to stand still and nipped at his butt constantly while he worked. Lorene must’ve thought this behavior was cute, because she didn’t attempt to put a stop to it, seeming content to simply apologize. “So sorry she keeps doing that. It’s
such
a bad habit.”

Travis
nodded his agreement, biting back a retort as he clinched the last nail.
Thank God…

“I
should pay you extra for the trouble.” Her hand grazed his back. “Or maybe I could take you out to dinner sometime.”

The
suggestive nature of her touch set off warning bells in his head, and he was about to trot out his standard
I don’t date my clients
rule when it occurred to him that for once in his life, he had the perfect excuse. “No need. Besides, my girlfriend wouldn’t like it.”
And neither would I.
He was dying to add that Miranda would probably rip Lorene’s bleached-blonde hair out by the roots if she even
thought
about taking him to dinner, but he left it at that. Still, overkill or not, it would’ve been fun to see her reaction.

“The jealous type, is she?”
The woman’s pout was almost audible.

Travis couldn’t resist
. Setting down the mare’s hoof, he straightened up and turned to face Lorene, affecting a thoughtful frown as he scratched his chin. “Jealous? No. I wouldn’t say she was jealous. I think
vengeful
might be a better word.”

The way her eyes widened was downright comical. “Sounds kinda scary.”

“Nah, she’s a real pussycat if you treat her right.” Actually, she was more of a tigress, but that was a detail Lorene didn’t need to know. “And I make a point of doing that.”

Before
Lorene could say anything else, he picked up his rasp and filed down the clinches. Giving the mare a final pat, he announced, “She’s all done.”

“What do I owe you?”

Travis stated the amount as he gathered up his tools. The sooner he got back on the road, the better. After pocketing the check, he waved goodbye and climbed into his truck, hoping the mare would hold onto those shoes for a good, long time. Normally, he would’ve scheduled a follow-up appointment to reset them in six weeks, but for once, he didn’t bother. Repeat business from Lorene and her nippy little mare was something he could easily live without.

Following
a quick call to ensure that Miranda was behaving herself—
I haven’t done a damned thing! Honest!
—he drove on to his next client.

Two more jobs later
—both of which went far more smoothly than the first—he stopped in to see Alan for lunch. After selecting a sandwich from the grocery’s refrigerated display case, he took a seat in the deli and waved at Alan.

If anything, his cousin appeared even worse off than the last time he’
d seen him, making Travis wish he’d stocked Alan’s fridge with junk food instead of Miranda’s. “Dammit, Alan, if you lose any more weight, you’ll disappear.”

And when I do, all the women who’ve ever told me to get lost will undoubtedly rejoice.” Alan’s riposte proved he hadn’t lost his ready wit, but his smile lacked conviction.

In the face of
his cousin’s plight, Travis couldn’t help feeling a little guilty about his own happiness, because for once in his life, he had a woman and Alan didn’t. Somehow he doubted that Lorene would be the solution to anyone’s problems, but he figured he could at least make the suggestion. “If you’re looking for a quickie, I think I know where you could get laid.”

Alan
winced and flung up a hand, his jaw clenched in denial. “This is the longest stretch of celibacy I’ve been able to pull off since I learned how to work my dick. Do
not
tell me. I don’t want to know.” Closing his eyes, he took a breath so deep and deliberate Travis could almost hear him chanting a mantra.

“Guess I shouldn’t
mention Miranda, either.”

Blowing his breath out slowly
and completely, Alan opened his eyes. “I take it my instructions were of some use.”

The memory of Miranda’s luscious bottom bouncing in his lap triggered a smile.
“Oh, yeah. Can’t thank you enough.”

“I
’m glad you’re getting some, Travis. I really am. Are you in love?”

“If I’m not, I will be soon. She is
fabulous
. The perfect woman—at least, she is for me.” The wistful nature of his cousin’s expression prompted him to add, “Your perfect woman is bound to show up eventually.”

Alan snorted. “I don’t think the right
woman
for me exists. I’d need a full harem to keep up with my needs, which is hard to come by in this day and age. No one woman can do it, and I’ve decided it isn’t fair to even attempt monogamy when I can’t be trusted. This is better. I’ve been working out to use up the excess energy.”

J
udging from Alan’s super-lean frame, his caloric intake wasn’t keeping up with the demand. Travis took a bite of his sandwich. Stuffed full of alfalfa sprouts and topped with a few slivers of avocado and a tiny bit of cream cheese, if this was the sort of thing Alan normally had for lunch, it was no wonder he couldn’t maintain his weight. “You look like you could use a sack of cheeseburgers.”

“I feel great,” Alan insisted. “
And I don’t need cheeseburgers—although I
have
developed an insatiable craving for chocolate ice cream. I’ve been hitting that ice cream parlor across the street at least once a week.”

“It’s a wonder you don’t freeze your nuts off eating that stuff this time of year.”

“Might be a good thing if I did,” Alan said. “Might help me keep my dick under control.”

Travis arched a brow. “
I doubt it. I’ve seen the cute girls scooping out the ice cream in that store. I’m surprised they don’t bar the door whenever they see you coming.”

Contrary to popular belief, I
can
control myself in public.” Alan paused, frowning. “Usually.”

“Uh huh.”
Travis couldn’t help being skeptical. A wide counter may have separated the employees from the patrons, but, being a very popular place, the customers were often lined up together for extended periods while they waited for their sundaes. A woman stuck in line with Alan might never want ice cream again.

“How’s Stuart taking all of this?”
Alan asked.

“I don’t know. He
seems happy for me, but he’s still kinda shell-shocked from his divorce. No matter what I say, I can’t convince him that women don’t hate him.”

“Yeah, well, maybe we’ve all lost our marbles. You falling for a married woman shocked the shit out of
me.”

“Miranda isn’t married.”

“Yes, but you thought
she was, which amounts to the same thing.”

Travis couldn’t argue with that logic
, because he’d berated himself with it more than once. “I’d like to take her home to meet the family. Not sure what Dad will say when he spots her wedding ring.”

“She’s
still wearing it?”

Travis blew out a breath. “Yeah. I’m not sure I have the right to ask her not to. Not yet, anyway.”

“Might be best to let her decide that on her own.”

Something else I can’t argue with.
“You know, for a self-described sex maniac, you possess a surprising amount of wisdom.”

Alan shrugged. “I do my best to understand the feminine point of view. Hasn’t done me any good so far, but it hasn’t hurt, either.”

“So you’re saying you can understand why women don’t necessarily want sex every hour of every day, you just can’t use that information to help you stifle your, um, urges?”

Alan actually smiled—this time with a touch of genuine amusement. “Something like that.”

“Like I said, you might find the right girl someday. Don’t give up yet.”

“I haven’
t. This is an exercise in self-discipline, not a permanent lifestyle.”

Travis
suspected that sooner or later Alan’s control would snap. And when it did, the lady on the receiving end would be in for the surprise of her life. “In the meantime, the harem idea has merit. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for volunteers.”

“You do that.”

* * * *

Despite the phone call to check up on her, Miranda had the strangest feeling that she’d seen the last of Travis, and she was at a loss to explain why. He’d given her no reason to suspect that he was unhappy with their current arrangement, but that niggling little doubt persisted.

Maybe I’m just bored.
With Travis around, she’d certainly never had
that
problem. She needed something to keep her mind off him—
and
the contents of her refrigerator. Having decided that he might notice if she ran the vacuum, she took a shower, did a Web search on the length of time required for broken ribs to heal (three to six weeks), and posted her status on Facebook.
Ribs still sore and crunchy. Headache gone. Not hearing the animals talk to me…much
—which drew a phone call from Tracy.

Hey, Sis. Saw your status update. What’s all that about? Are you hurt again?”

Miranda hadn’t bothered to inform her family about her accident, mainly because she knew they’d needle her incessantly.
After the first few trips to the ER, she’d decided that only life-threatening emergencies needed to be reported. “A little.”

“A little? Animals are talking to you and that’s all you can say?”

“Okay, but please don’t tell Mom and Dad. You
know
how they are.”

“I’ll grant you that, but you could’ve at least told
me
. What happened?”

Preparing for a lengthy conversation,
Miranda sat down at the kitchen table and gave her sister a quick rundown of recent events, concluding with, “Travis has been looking after me ever since.”

“Oh, ho! So
that’s
why you didn’t bother to call me. You already had a nurse—and a hot one, at that.”

Miranda sighed. “He is
totally
hot, and you wouldn’t believe how sweet he is to me. I really don’t deserve him.”

You deserve a sweet guy and then some, so don’t give me any crap about being undeserving,” Tracy snapped. “I take it you’ve finally owned up to your attraction to him.”

“Sort of. I’m still not sure I can admit it to myself, but he’s bound to have picked up on the idea.”

“You aren’t telling me a whole helluva lot.” Miranda could almost hear her sister’s tapping foot.
