About This Book

––––––––

D
anny closed the gap between us, pressing me against the wall. "I want this so badly, Nikki..."

––––––––

M
y stepbrother Danny had returned home from Marine boot camp. He came back the same person he was before he left: cocky, arrogant and over the top. But one thing had noticeably changed in him. He had turned from a boy into a man. He was now muscular and assertive.

As much as I tried to avoid it, I found myself attracted to him. I told myself that those feelings were wrong and socially unacceptable, but I couldn't help it. My body began to
need
him, despite my logical mind disagreeing completely.

And when our parents surprised us with a vacation to Costa Rica, I got nervous. I didn't know if I would be able to resist my taboo cravings for my stepbrother...

J
ames stepped from behind the bar and then motioned for us to follow him. We walked to the small parking lot at the side of the building. His car was parked right in front.

“Okay, love birds,” he said. “Hop in the back. I’ll get you guys home safe and sound.”

Love birds?

I opened my mouth to correct him, reminding him once again that Danny and I were “just friends”. But then I stopped myself. For some reason, I actually didn’t mind the sound of it this time.

We hopped into the back seat and James pulled the car out of the parking lot. Danny and I scooted next to each other and he placed his hand in between my knees. I had my arm over his lap as I turned to face him. We couldn’t even last a second. As soon as our faces were aligned, we began kissing again. We weren’t making out completely, though. We were just gently pecking and pulling away. It only took a moment for James to notice.

“Just friends, huh?” he commented, as he looked into the rear view mirror.

I felt my face flush. A giggle escaped my lips.

“Yes, just really,
really
good friends,” I responded. “Right, Danny?”

Danny just shook his head and smiled. “Yeah, I suppose that’s about right.”

James shrugged and then asked, “So where am I taking you guys?”

“Take a left here, and then go for about a quarter mile...” Danny explained.

As he gave James the directions to our cottage, I glanced down at his crotch. An obvious bulge had grown underneath his grey slacks. It protruded upward, pressing out against the cloth. My lips parted as soon as I saw it. My heart beat faster. I looked away and then looked back. It was so freaking wrong. How could I want that bulge so badly? How could I crave to taste it and feel it inside of me? It wasn’t just any man’s. It was my stepbrother’s. But I didn’t care. I wanted it.

Danny finished giving James the directions and then sat back in the seat. I lifted my gaze to his face. At the same time, I brought my hand over to his lap and placed my fingers over the bulge. Then I gave his shaft a gentle squeeze.

“I can’t wait to get back to the house...” I whispered.

Chapter 1

––––––––

I
was standing in the doorway of my old bedroom. Being back home from college and looking at the room where I had spent most of my time as a young girl brought back a wave of nostalgia. My mom hadn’t changed the bedroom at all since I had left. The posters of my favorite bands were on the walls just like I had left them, still wrinkled up from the water that my stepbrother, Danny, had sprayed on them when we were kids. The desk was still in the corner, with permanent ink drawn over the surface, where Danny had sketched out stick figures that were supposed to represent me with giant boobs. And of course, there was the closet, where Danny had jumped out to startle me once when we were younger. One of the closet doors still hung on the frame haphazardly, from where I had shoved him into it after he scared me half to death.

A sigh escaped my lips as I looked around, dragging my suitcase behind me and setting it on the bed. So much of my childhood was filled with memories of that little troublemaker, Danny. So much of my youth was spent getting tormented by him, made to be entertainment for he and his friends. And even though it had been years since any of it had happened, sitting in my old room caused the memories to come to mind.

I could still remember when I first met Danny. It was the summer after third grade and my mom had come home one afternoon in a particularly cheery mood. That was when she told me that she had met someone “very special,” a man by the name of Don. I remembered her saying that she could see herself spending her life with him. And well, she was right. Just a few weeks after they starting dating, Don proposed to her.

And all of that was fine. I didn’t really mind that my mom got remarried and in fact, I was actually very happy for her. She and my dad had gotten divorced when I was just a few years old, and even at my young age, I still understood that my mom was unhappy when she was alone. So the fact that Don was going to be part of our family didn’t bother me in the least. But what I didn’t know at the time, because they had only been dating for three weeks when he proposed, was that Don came with an addition that my mother had failed to mention: Danny.

Danny, oh, Danny.

The green-eyed, brown-haired and evil little monster, who upon moving into our home, had made it his goal to ruin my life. And although Don swore that he was Danny’s father, a part of me was convinced that Danny was the actually the spawn of the devil. His cute little dimples and playful smile were all a front, an evil ploy that he knew would get him anything that he wanted and would make the rest of the world see him as cute and innocent.

Danny was just two years my senior, but he was convinced that this meant he called all of the shots. From the moment he arrived and moved into the bedroom next to mine, all of the peace in my young life disappeared. It started out small, with him sneaking into my bedroom at night. He’d dunk my hand into a cup of warm water when I was asleep. His goal, of course, was to try and make me wet the bed. And, as much as I hated to ever actually admit it, it
did
work on occasion. But that was just child’s play. As the years went by, Danny had to continue to up the ante. He always had to outdo himself and took any and all opportunities to do so.

One day, after my best friend Ariel and I had come home from the mall we went upstairs to my bedroom to play dress up. I should have known something was wrong from the minute we walked into the house. Danny was relaxing on the couch, just watching TV. He waved at us when we walked in and simply said, “Hey, guys. How’s your day going?”

I remember squinting my eyes at him and feeling my stomach turn. He was never that nice. It was weird and suspicious. But I shrugged it off and Ariel and I went up to my room. After glancing around and noticing that things seemed normal, I closed the door and we started to play dress up. The minutes ticked by and it was silent downstairs in the living room. After a while, Ariel decided that she wanted to go downstairs and make a snack, so we got up and went to open my bedroom door.

But, as was par for the course, Danny had decided to play a little trick on us. He had used fishing line to tie the doorknob to the railing across the hallway. And he hadn’t used just one strand. He had used an entire roll, making the connection so secure that I could only pull the door open a half an inch, just enough for me to scream at him at the top of my lungs.

“You little bastard!” I shouted, as Ariel and I attempted to pull the door open.

Danny stood in the hallway, just laughing his butt off and trying not to fall over as the tears of joy streamed down his face. He loved every second of it. The more reaction that he got from me, the more accomplished he felt. It was a vicious cycle that I couldn’t seem to stop.

After a few minutes of trying to get the door open, I finally gave up. Danny walked away, leaving Ariel and I locked in the bedroom. But his antics didn’t end there. He knew what I would try next and he had already come up with a plan to account for it.

“The phone,” I remembered saying, as the idea flashed into my mind. “I can call my mom from my phone. She’ll come home from work and let us out.”

Of course, this was a few years back, so I didn’t own a mobile phone. In fact, I’m not even sure that they existed at the time. All I had was a regular old house phone, which plugged into the wall. Attached was a handset, one of those that connected with that curly wire that would only let you take a few steps away.

I walked over to my nightstand and grabbed the handset, lifting it to my ear. The moment that I did, I felt a strange tingling sensation on the palm of my hand. When I attempted to drop the handset, I realized that it had become part of my hand. Danny had covered it in super glue, causing my palm and the phone to become one.

The details after that are irrelevant. But suffice it to say, Ariel and I spent over an hour in that bedroom waiting for my mom to get home and free us from our prison. Then I spent another hour or so at my dad’s shop on the other side of town, while he attempted to use every chemical possible to free the handset from my hand. Eventually, we got it free, but like everything Danny ever did, it left a lasting impact in my memory.

But all of that was behind me. And as I reminisced, I started to think that maybe it was all just childhood antics. Maybe it wasn’t the real Danny. Maybe he had changed. Either way, I was about to find out.

After two years of not seeing him, he was going to be coming home. But he wouldn’t be coming home from college, like me. He was coming home from Marine boot camp. So the way I saw it, he could either be exactly the same, or far worse. And I had no idea which it was going to be.

Chapter 2

––––––––

O
nce I was settled and unpacked, I started digging through my closet. When I had left for my first year of college, I just tossed everything in there without taking much time to go through my belongings. I guess I had been excited to move away from home and get out on my own.

The first thing that caught my eye was in the back of the closet. It was an old photo album, covered in dust. I pulled it out and blew the dust off, then walked over to my desk and opened it up. The first few pages were filled with photos of me as a kid. There were also photos of my mom and dad when they were younger. As I got further toward the end, I noticed more and more pictures of Danny. In every picture, he had the same crooked grin. It was the grin that everybody in the world considered cute except for me.

“What a little shit,” I mused.

As much as I couldn’t stand him, though, a tiny part of me was excited to see him again. It had been well over a year since we had parted ways. He left for Marine boot camp at around the same time that I left for college. And I suppose we were
technically
family, so even though he drove me up the wall, I was also semi-curious to see how he was doing. I guess...

A light knocking on my door broke my concentration from the photo album. I quickly closed it up and then called out, “Come in!”

A moment later, my mom opened the door and poked her head in.

“Hey, Nikki,” she said. “I just wanted to let you know that your brother will be here in a half an hour. Don and I are making a surprise dinner for him to welcome him home. Please make sure that you’re in the kitchen so that you can join in on the surprise.”

The expression on my face must have been telling. I looked disgusted, not only by the fact that she had just referred to Danny as my “
brother”
but also because they were having a surprise dinner for him.

Why does Danny get a red carpet rolled out for him when he gets home?

After a moment of staring at my mom in disbelief, I finally just sighed and shook my head. I knew better than to argue with her. There was no that way I’d win.
