Epilogue

“This Perry person has been warned. We’ve told him that his people aren’t the only ones with secrets, and, from this day forth, to consider Milla off limits. There’s no way he can enter her dreams without her or her mates knowing. If he does, there will be repercussions.” Adam sat at the table, his wife in his lap while his twin sons played in the corner.

“What about the other women?” Mel wanted to know if they needed to stay in the hotel or if they could go home. He suspected they would have to protect the women until the carnival left. “We don’t want to leave them unprotected if you think the danger hasn’t passed.”

“It can’t hurt to stay in the hotel until the carnival leaves. I wouldn’t put it past this Perry fellow to attempt to take one or all of them. For some reason, he feels as though he owns them.” Adam sighed. “It’s too bad he’s not
Tudra
we could terminate him with extreme prejudice, but he is not.”

“Then we’ll stay with them in the lodge.” Jonas grinned. “I wonder how surprised they’ll be when they finally discover that we’re shifters and any one of us could rip out their throats at a moment’s notice,” Darren Colby, head of the alpha’s security said as he walked up behind them. “If you don’t mind, alpha, this is a party. There are others who would like to wish the birthday girl a happy day.”

Jonas took Milla’s arm. “Let’s go. We should get back to the lodge so the alpha and his mate can mingle with everyone else.”

They said their goodbyes on the way to the door. Just as they closed the door behind them, Jonas heard Nina scream, “Ethan, Evan, no!” A loud crash and a child’s frightened scream followed them down the steps.

“I can’t wait to hold our first child in my arms,” Mel said with a chuckle.

Milla’s stomach clenched. She hadn’t thought about that. In her eagerness to make these two men her own, she completely forgot that they might want children someday. What had she done?

Tears filled her eyes. She stopped walking, her chest filling with unimaginable pain. She’d mated them under false pretenses. She didn’t mean to do it, but she did it, just the same.

“What’s the matter, love?” Jonas pulled her into his arms, tucking her head beneath his chin. “You’re shaking and I can’t stand to see you cry. What’s wrong?”

“I-I can’t have children. I’m too old for that.”

The two men circled her with their arms, comforting her. “Of course you can, love,” Jonas said, his jaw brushing against her hair.

“I can’t. I’m too old. What makes you think I can have a baby?” Now they were being cruel. She was sure they didn’t mean to be, but they were, whether they meant to be, or not

“Because, darlin’, below our skin, beneath our veneers of civility, we’re wild animals and we can scent something like that.”

“How could you scent whether or not I can get pregnant?” she scoffed, trying to pull away.

“We can’t scent whether or not you can get pregnant,” Jonas said grasping her upper arms to look deep into her eyes. “But I can scent that you
are
pregnant.” He smiled. “Darlin’, you’re going to have our baby.”

About the Author

Dear Reader:

If you’re reading this, I hope it means that you’ve just enjoyed reading one of my books. Always a romantic, I started weaving little fantasies for my friends at the tender age of fifteen.

After complaining to my husband that my favorite authors didn’t write fast enough, he asked a fateful question. “Why don’t you write one of your own while you’re waiting?”

Once I started, he couldn’t stop me. I write in the morning, before work, and during my breaks at the day job, and I write at night when I should be relaxing. I’ve even been known to write in my sleep. Sometimes it even makes sense!

I grew up in Southwest Florida where I met and married the love of my life. My husband was in the Navy for twenty years, so if you wonder where I have gotten some of my ideas, I blame him. I suggest you do the same. He’s always saying he has wide shoulders. Let’s load them up, shall we?

Currently, I live in Michigan, seven miles from the nearest grocery store. I love living in the country. It gives me the peace and quiet I need to continue to write these stories for you. It also shows me a lot of natural beauty that I try to share with you in my books. While my titles may be dedicated to certain individuals who have touched my life in differing ways, please remember, every one of them is written for you.

My most recent dream is to continue what I do—to share more stories with anyone willing to read them. My new dream is to be able to pursue both my writing and my husband fulltime. Do you think he’ll run?
