We are starting off with some extraordinarily delicious stew recipes that you can cook in your slow cooker. As a proud owner of a slow cooker, you know how practical having one is. You just add the ingredients in perfect amounts and your slow cooker does all the cooking for you. For a first round of delicious slow cooker stew recipes we have prepared some meaty delights for all the hungry meat fans craving for some extra delicious easy-to-make meals!

Southern Chicken Stew will surely warm you up and make a great meal for the entire family, having everything you need in single portion: veggies + meat.

What you need?

  • 2 pieces of boneless, skinned chicken breasts
  • 2 pieces of skinned boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 300 g of carrots, finely sliced
  • 300 g of parsnips, finely sliced
  • 2 sweet onions, chopped
  • 5 celery ribs, finely sliced
  • 1 cup of cream
  • 1 can of chicken broth

If you would like to add an extra southern note to this stew, you could make cornbread dumplings to go with it. It will taste even better! Here is what you need to make dumplings:

  • One half cup of flour (all purpose)
  • Half cup of cornmeal (self-rising)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3 tbsp of butter (you need to melt it first)
  • Chopped fresh parsley

How to make it?

First you need to rub the chicken thighs and breasts with some salt and pepper then place it in your slow cooker. Over it place the carrots, parsnips, celery and onion. Mix cream and chicken broth together in a bowl until the mixture is smooth then pour over the veggies and chicken. Once the chicken is cooked so the pieces are very soft, take the chicken out of the soup and chop it in smaller pieces. Once you do that put it back into the cooker and cook with other ingredients for an hour or until the stew starts boiling. As you are waiting for that boiling, make dumplings by mixing up all the ingredients. First you need to mix up all the dry ingredients then make a hole in the center to slowly add milk, melted butter and chopped fresh parsley. Make little dumplings and place them one by one into the slow cooker to cook. The dumplings will grow and become twice bigger then when you placed them into the pot, so make some room between them as you are adding dumplings into the slow cooker. It should take them about 35 minutes or less.

There is probably not a single stew fan that would pass onto a great beef stew. If you are one of them, you will surely enjoy this recipe!

What you need?

  • 500 g potatoes
  • 300 g baby carrots
  • 2 large sweet onions
  • 300 g bell mushrooms
  • Beef broth
  • 1 kg beef well sliced and chopped in cubes
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Can of tomato sauce
  • Olive oil
  • A couple of dry thyme leaves
  • All purpose flour (a couple of tablespoons)

How to Make It?

First thing to do is to give those beef pieces a nice shade of crispy brown, so you need to coat the beef pieces into the flour and fry them in the pan on some olive oil until the pieces become brown. Once you do that, you will take the pieces of beef and put them into the slow cooker. You will add onions and tomato paste and stir it all up. Next add the rest of the ingredients along with the beef broth and cook for 4 hours on medium heat.

If you want to spice up your day and would like some Mexican flavor added to your lunch, this Mexican stew is just the right thing for you. Let’s check it out!

What you need?

  • 1 kg chicken thighs, boneless and skinned
  • 2 medium sweet onions
  • 1 cup salsa sauce
  • Half cup chicken broth
  • 4 large carrots, diced
  • 1 can of corn
  • 1 can of black beans
  • 1 can of green chiles
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin, ground
  • Salt

How to make it?

You just need to add all the ingredients into the slow cooker and let it cook on low for 6-8 hours. When the stew is done, before you serve the dish, you can add some lemon juice with a pinch of cheddar cheese to enhance the flavor.

The name of the recipe really says everything – you are in for a creamy delight here!

What you need?

  • 6 bratwurst sausages (links)
  • 4 medium sized potatoes
  • 2 cups cheddar, shredded
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 canned cream mushroom soup
  • 1 tbsp dried onion, minced

How to make it?

First you need to slice the sausage and fry it a bit to make it brownish. Slice and dice the pepper and potatoes and shred the cheddar. Add everything into the slow cooker and add water to the ingredients. Let it cook on medium heat for about 3 hours or until the potatoes are soft.

You’ve tried beef stew, but have you tried it combined with cabbage? No? Let’s try it out!

What you need?

  • 1 kg of ground beef
  • One small cabbage, chopped
  • 1 can of ranch beans
  • 5 cloves of minced garlic
  • 2 green bell peppers
  • 1 can of tomatoes (you will need the liquid as well)
  • 3 celery ribs, sliced and chopped
  • 1 tbsp of piquant sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How to make it?

First you need to fry the ground beef with garlic until the beef is browned. Dry the fat out once you are done with frying. You need to put all the ingredients into the slow cooker, cover it up and cook for 7 hours.

Next, we are serving some delicious vegetarian stews!
