“Am I glad to see you.”  Jack spoke with glee.  “The keys for the cuffs are in his pocket.”

Clint searched through the man’s pockets and found both the keys for the car, and the handcuffs.  He took off Jack’s handcuffs.  “Are we taking the car?”  He asked.

“Where would we go?”  Scarlett asked.

“We are supposed to be meeting at the entrance to Turtle Creek Park.”  Jack replied.  “That’s where your father will be headed.”

“My Mum is at the Plaza, we need to get her.”

“We can take the car then.”  Clint advised.

“What about him?”  Jack said looking down at the Nazi.

“What about him?”  Clint asked.

“Well, do we leave him or take him with us?”

“Why would we take him with us?”

“So he doesn’t wake up and report an escaped prisoner and a stolen vehicle.”

“Okay, we take him.”  Scarlett interrupted.

Jack and Clint struggled with the man, and placed him in the seat behind the driver’s seat, Scarlett sat beside him.  She had taken his gun and had it pointed at him, they had also handcuffed him.  Jack sat in the front passenger seat and Clint drove.

Clint did a U-turn and headed back towards Hitler Plaza, the closer they got to the Plaza the busier the roads and the sidewalks became.  The traffic was at a standstill when they did reach the Plaza, there were heavily armed Nazi soldiers littering the street.

Clint could feel his heart pounding, the Nazi soldiers were checking the car that was three in front of theirs.  They had just turned on to Houston Street.  He watched as the person driving the car that was being searched was told to step out.  The soldiers were searching him for weapons.

“We need to get out of here.”  Clint warned.  “When they see him in the back they will kill us.”

“Try and turn.”  Scarlett advised.

“Where?  There is no room to move!”

“Sidewalk.”  Kennedy stated.

“They will clearly think that is suspicious.”  Clint snapped.

“They’ll find it much more suspicious that we have one of their friends handcuffed and unconscious in the back seat!”

“Fuck.”  Clint pulled the car forward and to the right, he had to reverse back again to give himself some more room to turn.

“They’re looking.”  Kennedy shouted anxiously.

“Stop!”  The soldier that had been searching the man shouted.

“Speed up Clint!”  Scarlett yelled.

Clint managed to turn the car so that it was facing in the opposite direction, the car was almost taking up the entire sidewalk.

When the first shot was fired, Scarlett was sure Clint had been hit.  She let out a scream of fear, when she looked to her right she saw that the man they had taken had been shot in the head.  The second bullet came quickly after, this one hit Scarlett’s left shoulder.  She screamed again, this time in agony and lay down across the back seat to avoid being struck again.

“Move Clint!”  Kennedy snapped.

Clint put his foot down as hard as he could, the third shot struck Kennedy in the back and he too let out a
wail
of pain.

There was then a hail of gunfire on the car. The back and front windows were blown out and there was blood all over the dashboard and seats.

Clint managed to turn out of Hitler Plaza and managed to get some distance between them and the shooters.  The roads were still gridlocked, so he stayed on the sidewalk.

“Just go to the condo!”  Scarlett snapped.

“It’s fine I can direct him to the park.”  Kennedy spoke through the pain.

“Is it far?”  Clint managed, he too sounded as though he was in pain.

“Are you hurt?”  Scarlett asked.

“I can’t drive anywhere too far away, I won’t make it.”

Jack looked at Clint and saw that he was now covered with blood, he had his left arm pressed against his stomach which was losing a lot of blood.

“Jesus, Clint do you want me to drive?”  Kennedy winced.

“I’ll drive.  Just pull up here.”  Scarlett announced.

Clint brought the car to a halt abruptly, Jack moaned as the heavy stop hurt his spine.

Scarlett scrambled out of the backseat.  The people in the other cars were staring at them open mouthed.  She opened the driver’s door and blood poured onto the sidewalk.

Clint was so pale, his eyes seemed to be almost glazed over.

“Clint can you hear me!”

She looked at Jack, and he too looked terrible.

She put her hand to Clint’s neck and felt for a pulse, he wasn’t breathing.

She could feel herself shaking and heard the sound of gunfire coming towards them.  She pulled Clint from the car and managed to lie him on the floor in the back.  She took the driver’s seat and put her foot down.

Chapter 53

She pulled the trigger and saw Hitler’s head jerk violently backwards and to the left.  People were screaming by the roadside, she watched as Clint Hill ran and jumped onto the back of the black Mercedes.

“Clint?”  She whispered in amazement.

“I got him!”  She spoke into the Walkie Talkie.

She turned and ran through the car park.  She was headed towards the train line when she heard a car horn, she looked and saw Bobby Kennedy sitting in a red Volkswagen.  She ran towards the car and heard the shots being fired from the knoll.  When she opened the door she let out a wail of pain as a bullet hit her left calf, she fell forwards into the car and Kennedy put his foot down.

Jane pulled herself forward into the car, and as Kennedy swerved the car violently the passenger door swung closed.

“Are you okay?”  Kennedy shouted.

“They shot me in the leg!”  She screamed.

“Did you kill him?”

“He’s dead.”  She confirmed.

The gunshots continued to rain down on the car, Kennedy was continually ducking to avoid the shots.  “The park isn’t far from here!  Did they get Jack?”

“Scarlett and Clint went to get him, I don’t know what happened.  Where are the others?”

“Faraday was going to meet Jacob and Chase in the storm drain, they will meet us at the park.”

Chapter 54

They were sitting in a diner in Dallas discussing where they should go and what they should do with their lives together.  For the first time in a long time, Bobby felt happy.  He had spent his entire life, risking his life, the hell of Auschwitz and Jane’s speech had made him see that.

“I am so happy that you came for me.”  He said to Sarah, as she sipped at her coffee.

“So am I.”  She smiled.

“Right before I was sent back there, I was planning on coming to ask you out.”

“Really?”  She replied in surprise.

Bobby nodded, taking a draw on his lit cigarette.  “I was planning on dealing with Meyer Lansky and then I was going to come back for you.”

Sarah smiled.  “I tried to call you, just before they came for me.”

“You did?”

“I thought you would be at the White House when Martin Luther King was visiting. I called your old office and ended up talking to Clint Hill, I warned him but I don’t know what happened.”

Bobby took a long draw on his cigarette.  “I still can’t believe that David and Faraday did what they did to me.”

“They didn’t know.”  Sarah assured him.  “Faraday saved my life, and Chase’s life, and Guy Fawkes’ life, although he died.”

“As in the bonfire man?”  Bobby replied stunned.

“Yeah, I met him.  He was nice.  What I mean is you shouldn’t blame them Bobby.  Well, maybe blame David, but Faraday did what was right in the end.”

“The thing is Sarah, I never did anything to hurt them and I wouldn’t have done anything to hurt them. I saved both of them and they fucked me over.”

“I am not trying to excuse them Bobby.”

Bobby was distracted by the TV in the far corner of the room.

“Son of a bitch.”  He spoke in amazement stubbing out his cigarette.

“What?”  Sarah replied, before sipping her coffee.

“They did it, look.”  He said, pointing towards the television.

Sarah turned and saw a man she immediately recognised as Dan Rather, the same man who had reported on Kennedy’s assassination, albeit incredibly inaccurately.  He was dressed all in black and had a swastika on his left arm.

“Some breaking news, just into us here.  Our beloved Fuhrer has been the victim of a terrorist act, during his visit to Dallas, Texas.  These are only initial reports, but it is believed he was shot whilst his motorcade was travelling through Hitler Plaza.  Our prayers are with you Fuhrer.

It has been released that a man named Lee Harvey Oswald was captured in the early hours of this morning in relation to an attack planned against our glorious Fuhrer.  He later died in custody.  SS soldiers then carried out a raid on 1505 Elm Street, Dallas where a body of a man who has been identified as Abaddon Wolf was discovered.  He is believed to have shot himself over the guilt he felt about the plot against our almighty Fuhrer.

A man was also arrested in Hitler Plaza, but it is believed that the terrorists have aided in the man’s escape.

More on this story as it develops.

Heil Hitler!”

Sarah was stunned as she watched the report, the freedom of the press must have been abolished by Hitler.

“What should we do?”  She asked.

Bobby shifted uncomfortably and lit a cigarette.  “What do you mean?”

“Should we try and help them?”

“With what?”

“Their escape?”  She said, baffled.

“No, it’s over.  We left and this has nothing to do with us anymore.”

“Bobby they helped break you out of Auschwitz!”  Sarah replied incredulously.

“They also put me there!”  Bobby snapped.

“I’m not suggesting we go and try to kill anyone.  We rented a car, we can go back and see if they need help getting out of there, we have nothing to worry about, we weren’t a part of it.”

Bobby took a long pull on his cigarette and stared at Sarah, was she right?

“It will take us five minutes to get there!”  Sarah urged him.

“It’s done!”  Bobby snapped.

“What about your dad, he was probably there!”

“I never knew him, he means nothing to me.”

“What about the Kennedy’s?”

“Sarah, I’m done!  I’ve seen them die in so many ways now, the generator will be destroyed and it will all be over!”

“Bobby this is not you.  You can’t leave them to die.”

“Oh, come on Sarah.  Out of them who should I care about, really?”  Bobby asked incredulously.

“Chase! He nearly died to save you.”

“They have Jacob with them, if anyone can get them out of there its him.”

“He hates Chase.”

Bobby suddenly felt guilty, Chase had saved his life back in the forest outside Auschwitz.  Chase would never have left him to die, he wouldn’t leave anyone to die.  “Do you know where they were going?”

“No, obviously not the condo.”  Sarah replied.

“Well, I don’t see what we can do then?”  Bobby turned away and stared out of the window, it was a beautiful day.  He watched as the manhole cover outside the restaurant shifted away from the hole, a mop of blonde hair appeared.  Bobby put his hand to his face, he could not believe out of any place they could have chosen to eat, they had chosen this diner.  “Son of a bitch.”

“What?”  Scarlett asked, looking out the window.  “I don’t believe it.”

Chapter 55

“I got him!”  The confirmation came through the Walkie Talkie.

The car sped away from Hitler Plaza, as Chase and Jacob watched on, there was no doubt that he was dead.  The people on Hitler Plaza were running in every direction, the majority of them were Nazi soldiers.  They both pulled their guns away from the drain, it was over. Hitler was dead.

“Who would have believed she could shoot?”  Jacob laughed, placing the gun in his holster.

Chase also placed his gun in his holster.

“This must go down as your only success.”  Jacob laughed.
