By the end of October 2032, the former United States had suffered through several executive orders. Through these orders, there was a breakdown of the country that the forefathers had built through the establishment of the Constitution. Bypassing the Constitution through executive action gave the president power to assume the powers of the other two branches (Legislative and Judicial). This allowed dictator-style rule through circumvention.
Ambitious presidents preceding Adalyn Baker had signed executive actions that could be taken by any president at any time under the guise of “emergency.”
Adalyn Baker invoked the following Executive Orders to accomplish her goal:
EO 10997

Every year preceding the Flip, tens of thousands of Americans swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and to defend it against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Yet America lost her light and fell into darkness.
America did not fall by the might of an invading army. It was not outsmarted by a technologically superior nation. It fell because it degenerated from the inside out; beginning with an unfaithful pledge and ending with unconstitutional executive orders.

This book is dedicated to the American that pushes back against tyranny; the oath takers that do their job resisting unconstitutional laws; the American service member and their predecessors, the veterans, both living and the fallen.
This book is written as a wake-up call to every American, that there are unconstitutional laws waiting for the right moment to be utilized. There are vain and aspiring men in offices, waiting for the right moment to make their ambitions known and to build them upon the backs of the unfaithful oath taker.
Stay vigilant, oath taker, and never assume large government has your back.
If anyone, then, asks me the meaning of our flag, I say to him—it means just what Concord and Lexington meant; what Bunker Hill meant; which was, in short, the rising up of a valiant young people against an old tyranny to establish the most momentous doctrine that the world had ever known—the right of men to their own selves and to their liberties.
—Henry Ward Beecher
By the end of the year 2032, America’s population had dropped significantly. There was no electricity or running water; all agricultural farmland and equipment, along with transportation and oil supplies, had been seized by a tyrannical organization known as FEMA, an alleged emergency management system devised to control the United States populace in the event of a national emergency.
Of the few American survivors, there remained only the strong and those who had prepared for the fall of the American way of life. Their search for resources dwindled on the hope that they would be able to restore a free nation of commerce, trade, and travel, but wherever there was liberty, there was also tyranny.
Some survivors banded together and pooled their dwindling resources to secure private safe havens and a way of life. Others looted at will—stealing, killing, and raiding from those deemed as weak.
Despite the depravity of some survivors, there was a common enemy: the United Nations had a growing presence in America. Their ground forces, which were supported primarily by Russia, Iran, and France, had the technological backing of China. They had provided them with groundbreaking technology that could give them an edge against the “resistance”…against the veterans of the former United States military.
The District, December 5, 2032
General Abdul Muhaimin was well settled into his new position as executive commander of America. Every day that went by, he was hearing less of the patriot resistance against his regime. He had grown tired of the reports of constitutionalists rising up against him and putting a foothold in the territory he was trying so hard to control.
The UN’s “Agenda 21” was supposed to be a way for the global community to shrink within “sustainable” limits. The US’s Second Amendment proved to be more than a sore spot for the UN, whose sights were set on a global population of no more than five hundred million. Telling a country’s populace whose constitution gave them unabridged rights to guns that they must comply or else had been anything but a successful tactic for the UN. For them, it was a miserable failure and a plan B was necessary. If they could not successfully remove the resistance from the American lands, then they would be forced to take less desirable, but necessary steps to ensure the eradication of the population: natural selection through biological interference, a course of action that even the general was not aware of.
“Councilors, I assure you that I am moving ahead and am on schedule with the relocation protocol,” General Muhaimin said. He was in the Situation Room and was viewing a projection hologram of the Council of United Nations Emissaries. They met regularly to check on the progress of American restabilization. To the UN, restabilization meant a vacated America, for the purpose of controlled colonization.
“General, you have been selling us the same story for the past couple months. We are looking for progress, not excuses and demagoguery,” Ambassador Pao said as he disconnected the signal that linked them to the District.
The United Nations, Beijing, China
Ambassador Pao was a Chinese member of the UN Council. He was deeply involved in the agenda’s process to neutralize America, but he knew the president of the People’s Republic of China would not commit a single soldier to American soil without absolute certainty it would not fail, and so far, General Muhaimin had proven the patriots’ resolve.
Turning towards the other council members, Ambassador Pao said, “We cannot continue to wait on this demagogue. He has been unable to control the Americans. This is why the Chinese Dynasty cannot commit our people to the cause. We should initiate ‘Black State’ immediately.”
“We cannot and should not, except as an absolute last resort. Our goal is to inhabit those lands, not make them uninhabitable for decades to come,” Russian Ambassador Makarovich said. “The Americans are entering into their winter months and are without power. Natural selection will take its course through exposure to the elements.”
UN Base, Marion, Illinois, 270 miles south of Chicago
Nathan, Denny, Jess, Cade, and some of the others were enjoying the warmth of a large military generator, compliments of the UN.
The Posse and Buchanan’s Marines had fought their way through what remained of Murphysboro and Carbondale to reach Marion, where they met up with a large unit of national guardsmen. With the additional firepower, they engaged a battalion of UN troops and seized all their equipment.
Buchanan and Nathan’s group, along with a split of the national guardsmen, had made a previous arrangement to separate for the time being. Nathan, half of the Posse, and some Marines and soldiers were to stay in the Marion, Illinois, area and round up what they could of a resistance force. Buchanan and what was left of his Marines, along with some national guardsmen and the Posse, headed north to collect along the way. Buchanan was to set up a stronghold in the Cook County area and wait for reinforcements.
Every one of them had to change their tactics over the course of the last couple months. The Marines and guardsmen now found themselves flying a US flag over the UN vehicles that they had confiscated from their enemies. They had discovered that retaining UN equipment proved more valuable than destroying it. Loose groups of American survivors had seen the US flags on the equipment. They were finding both hope and strength knowing that their invaders were outmatched and losing their equipment to American patriots.
Each time they ran into a unit of UN troops, it would generally mean the retreat of UN forces and the engagement of UN targets. The Americans just had to be careful that they were not firing upon friendlies that had seized UN equipment, as they had. Likewise, they felt it was smart to keep the UN flags should they need them to cover their identity.
In addition to the seizure of UN equipment and weapons, they also found dissidents like Sergeant First Class Reynolds, who had surrendered himself to Buchanan and his Marines just a couple months prior.
“Has anybody seen any more of these FLIES in the past couple weeks?” Cade asked as he stood over the table and looked at the dissected machine they’d shot down fifteen days ago.
The Chinese piece of technology came flying into their view and was recognized immediately as “E-Tech.” E-Tech was the generic name they were using for “enemy technology.” In this case, they had some decent intelligence that something called FLIES was being shipped in from the Chinese to the American shores. The patriots didn’t know much else about them, other than what the acronym stood for. The forward lasing identification electronic surveillance drones were still somewhat of a mystery to them. They had a damaged one lying on a table in the UN base they were currently occupying.
Nathan joined Cade’s side and said, “No, I haven’t seen one since. I’m sure they’re out there, though. We barely sighted this one.”
Cade was wearing a pair of rubber gloves as he carefully moved the FLIES unit around, revealing a pinhole camera.
“Guys, did you happen to notice this tiny camera?”
Nathan stooped down to get a closer look.
“What I wouldn’t give for a magnifying glass about now.”
Denny walked up to the table and took his backpack off. From one of the inside pouches, Denny pulled out a magnifying glass.
“Really?” Cade said.
“I have it for survival. It’s a good alternative for fire starting,” Denny answered.
Denny hadn’t been the same since the Gorham raid resulting in the death of his sister. He went a month without talking and had just reached the point where he could joke around. Back in October, just before the Southside Raiders attacked Gorham, Pastor Rory Price shared the name of the guy in charge of the raiders. He told the Posse the guy’s name was Cade Walker. Denny’s state of mind had blocked out many of the details of the Gorham raid.
Nathan took the lens and held it up close to the tiny camera.
“Well, at least you have a good eye,” Nathan joked with Cade.
“Probably why I don’t need a magnifying lens,” Cade joked back.
The FLIES drone resembled a large dragonfly with four round housing units that contained the propeller blades. There were two larger propeller systems on the front of the drone and two smaller ones in the rear. It measured about one foot from the outermost edge of the front propeller to the other front propeller and about seven inches from the outermost edges of the rear propeller to the edge of the other small rear propeller. Each of the propellers could operate independently of one another. They could maneuver in the same fashion as a gyroscope. The bottom of the drone was an off-white color, making it difficult to see against the sky. The drone was covered in tiny circuitry that nobody there could understand and was powered by tiny solar panels covering the upper portions of the drone.
