“That’s not what I want.” Austin frowned, not sure how to put it. “I want to do everything with you, like a team, guys, girls, whatever.”

Shaking his head, Scott knew he couldn’t. “I like being alone with someone else sometimes.”

That hurt, but Austin didn’t show it. “Then can we just make this more? Maybe really dating, or at least admitting it to the rest of the world? I hate hiding that I care so much about you.”

“Let’s see what happens if I ever get Brandon to do anything with me.”

Austin took a deep breath. “And what if that never happens?”

“When he stays at our place, if nothing happens, I’ll give it up. Then we’ll talk about it again.”

“When’s that?”

Scott smirked. “The weeks we’re recording.”

Chapter Forty

Saturday morning, Brandon woke up well rested for a change. He had taken Mackenzie to work then picked her up for the past three days and was not used to the early start. It did help him house hunt, which went badly. Not one, undamaged house appealed to him.

Mackenzie had rolled away from him, so he stretched and sighed. Then he raked his fingers through her hair. His hand traveled down, brushing over her back then the curve of her hip. She was all he ever needed, and she was his. He turned to her and smiled. He watched her naked body rise and fall with her breathing. He wished he had the time to make love to her, but they had a busy day ahead of them.

He glanced at his phone. They had learned to separate them, finally. He checked the time and saw they had less than an hour until their appointment with the architect. Together, they decided to purchase an empty lot and build a home. Since the storm, many homes were condemned and most of the residents had moved on. He hated that they were benefiting from disaster, but he didn’t cause it.

Swiping the screen, he checked his email then went back the home page. There was a lone text from Jake that came in at four in the morning.

You better be in Portland Wednesday!

Oregon? Brandon was confused. It was early for his brain to process information, but he was relatively sure the tour didn’t go all the way back to the west coast so soon. Then he remembered. Portland, Maine, right.
Duh!

The bed moving made him glance across it again. Mackenzie had rolled to her back, very much asleep. Still in recovery, she slept more than normal, and they had a late night. He hated that he had to wake her up soon.

Gently, he caressed her side, tracing the tattoo for her father. The way she comforted him after his mother’s death should have clued him in that she loved him. If not for her, he would have wallowed in guilt forever. She made him understand his mother knew he loved her, although he rarely expressed it. A single tear fell from his eye, which he wiped away fast.

To get his mind off his feelings, he let his hand travel south to her hip then over her smooth mound. With just one fingertip, he probed her clit. Just a few strokes and he felt it start to swell. A soft moan passed her lips, which made him smile. The idea of giving her pleasure before their long day sounded just right. Moving as slowly as he could, so the bed would not shake, he crawled over her body until he lay between her legs.

Looking up at her still passed out, he grinned wickedly. She woke him up more than once with sex or oral. He had done the same a few times, but she usually woke up first. His tongue flicked out, with anticipation. He leaned down and let it have relief by lapping at her labia.

Mackenzie’s right leg twitched. The left side of Brandon’s mouth turned up. Then he carefully spread her legs some more. When he licked her again, she sighed. He sucked on two of his fingers before rubbing them over her opening. He slipped the tips in an inch and bent his head down again. While he moved his tongue around her clit, he worked his fingers inside of her until she had taken the full length.

He watched her hips lift slightly. Then he buried his face and fingers, sucking and thrusting. Her sudden moan encouraged him even more. He rubbed his tongue stud roughly against her clit and grazed her sweet spot within several times. She was starting to wake up, and he knew it. He changed tactics, wanting her to wake up cumming. He shifted position and pressed his tongue to her backdoor. Her soft whimper told him he made the right decision.

Mackenzie awoke to blinding pleasure and cried out. The convulsions within lasted while Brandon continued licking and rubbing. Then suddenly, he pulled away, leaving her gasping for air and gripping the sheets. Brandon suddenly on top of her, startled her.

“Time to get up…” he whispered in her ear, plastering his body to hers. He wished they had time for a quickie, but it was already late. “We have an appointment.” He tried not to, but brushed her lobe with his lips.

“Uh…” She gasped and lifted her hips.

Brandon’s hands clenched when she dragged her wet pussy along his shaft. “Fuck, not now, please.” Silently, she circled his waist with her legs and pressed their genitals together. “Tink, we can’t. Damnit!” He tried to pull away, not happening. Already highly aroused, each sweep sent shivers up and down his spine. “Stop.” If she didn’t, he was going to make them late.

With an evil smirk, she shifted and tilted her pelvis as she worked up to the tip of his cock and thrust up fast, engulfing his entire length. He groaned loudly and bit her neck hard. She worked her hips, making him grasp her tightly.

Shocked, he couldn’t move. His body trembled involuntarily while she pumped, taking him deep each time. Then she dragged her nails up his sides. He lost all control. “Fuck, fuck!” His balls emptied and filled her quickly.

Grinding into him, Mackenzie cried out while an orgasm gripped her as well. “I knew… we had… time,” she said through rapid breaths.

He kissed her lips. “So selfless.” Panting hard, he pulled out and got to his feet. “We have to move our asses now. Gotta be there in thirty minutes.” After holding the bed for a few seconds, he headed to the bathroom.

A sneaky grin on her face, Mackenzie soon followed. She opened the shower door and admired her lover while he soaped his hair and body. He looked so sexy. Without another thought, she stepped in and pressed her body against his back.

“Tink, we can’t. Seriously.” When her hand gripped his dick, he stopped her. “As soon as we get home, I’ll give you hours of pleasure, promise.”

She sighed and put some soap on her hands. “Fine.” She washed his back, in the most non-sexual way she could then said, “My turn.”

“You don’t like the word ‘no,’ do you?”

She turned around. “You know I don’t.”

“Sorry, but we gotta get this done.” He pulled her back under the spray to wet her hair and rinse himself off at the same time. “You can’t take over his apartment forever.”

She shrugged. “I just feel weird that I can’t pay as much as you can.”

“Kenzie.” He hugged her. “I been thinking about buying a house down here for a while now. You living there with me makes it so much better. I got the money, so stop worrying. You can pay for the electric bill if you want.”

She laughed. “Fine, but you need to stop spending money on me.”

“Do I have to ask you to marry me to make you understand?” His eyes opened wide. It was not what he meant to say.

Mackenzie froze.
Please don’t ask
, she begged him silently. She could feel the tension in him as well. She couldn’t break his heart by saying no, but how could she say yes? Marriage was too much commitment for her.

Brandon recovered slowly. He ran his hands down her arms. “I’m just saying… Let me take care of you, please. You did so much for me over the years. You supported my music long before I joined Wicked End. Back in the day, you paid my rent when I didn’t have it. Remember how you invited me to dinner every night?”

She nodded, the memories flashing before her. “Yes.”

Her eyes closed. Back then, she took care of him as much as she could. In college, they both had part time jobs, but his money went into equipment and gas. She made sure he ate, and he made sure she was sated in every other way.

Feeling her relax, he turned and grabbed a bottle of shampoo and poured a good amount onto her head. “Friends help each other.” He carefully washed her hair, making sure to massage her scalp as he went along. “Now it’s my turn.” After scrubbing her back and neck, he walked around her and lifted her chin, forcing her gaze upwards. “Will you let me return the favor?”

She nodded, holding back tears that she did not understand. Love was something she had never felt for anyone but family before. She was still trying to figure out how to deal with the strong emotions he drew out. When he ran the washcloth over her shoulders, she jumped. Their eyes met and she forced a smile.

“I’ll try.” It came out soft and shaky.

By the time they arrived at Unique Designs, both had let the tension go. Brandon picked up Mackenzie’s hand and squeezed. “Ready?”

“Yep.” She smiled and walked beside him as he led them to the front entrance.

The office had large glass windows, and there was a lot of natural light inside. The receptionist led them to a conference room. Three men and a woman stood up when they entered.

“Mr. Knight, welcome.” Dwight Henderson waved his hand at two unoccupied seats. “Miss Winters, I presume?”

Mackenzie nodded and sat with Brandon. She shook hands with everyone right after Brandon did. Brandon had met them all before, but she had not. She was unsure who held what job.

Dwight slid a set of drawings in front of Brandon. “Rebecca made these up for you. She tried to include all of your needs.”

“I found three double sized lots large enough within Broward County, and two in West Palm County.” Marcus, the realtor added. “Most still need to have the old homes removed, though. Building would have to wait until that is done.”

Brandon gave him a nod while he examined the first of the preliminary plans. It had a beautiful pool, a gym, game room. The five bedrooms he wanted. He scanned the size of the rooms. That looked good. Something just wasn’t right, though. He passed it to Mackenzie.

“Tell me what you think, Kenzie.”

She took it, and her mouth opened wide. The layout was much bigger than his home in Baltimore. “Baby, we don’t need all this. What happened to make it simple?”

“I’m a rock star.” He put his hand over hers. “I need to be spoiled.” He smirked when she turned to him. “Besides, when the guys visit, they won’t fight over the extra bedroom. They can all have their own.”

She half-shrugged, agreeing with his logic. Then she looked at the square footage.
6000 feet! Whoa!
“It’s huge. How am I gonna keep it clean?”

“A maid,” Brandon answered nonchalantly. His expression told her he was serious, and it was nonnegotiable.

He studied the second home. It was two stories, the bedrooms upstairs like in his current place. The pool was bigger and had an outdoor kitchen, nice touch. So far, it was his favorite. Most of the downstairs rooms were standard in his eyes, but there was a nicely designed bar. Next to the house was a basketball court.
Cool
. Then he looked a little closer and smiled.
A five-car garage? Hell yes!
He had two of his cars in his driveway at the time.

“I really like this one,” he whispered.

When Brandon handed her that design, she took a deep breath. She wanted to be impartial. The first thing she noticed was the kitchen. It was bigger and had a lot more counter space, including a breakfast nook, one of her favorite amenities. Second, was the master bathroom. The huge Jacuzzi tub made her body ache to be in it. She loved the one at Brandon’s place, but it was not big enough for two. Then she spied the balcony outside the master bedroom. It wrapped around the back of the house to the side.

She looked up. “Are any of the lots on a lake?”

Marcus sorted through the papers in front of him, his mouth twisting as he scanned the descriptions. “Yes, two of them. Why do you ask?”

“This house is it.” She was almost giddy. “Will the rear face the lake?” She grabbed Brandon’s hand with anticipation.

“Yes.”

She pulled on Brandon’s arm. “I love the balcony.” She imagined sitting out there reading dirty novels. “Baby, can we build this one?”

He smiled at her enthusiasm; glad she was getting into the idea. “It’s the one I want too.” He pulled her towards him by the neck and planted a gentle kiss on her lips. “Our home, right?”

“Right,” she agreed.

After deciding to build the house in Boca Raton with a few slight changes, they headed to their next destination. Mackenzie sat in the passenger seat as they drove north on I-95. She had no clue which dealership Brandon chose. The only thing she was sure of, was most of them in her county had lost all their cars in the storm. Brandon refused to take the chance of picking up a previously flooded out vehicle.

When they pulled into the Delray Beach Ford lot, Mackenzie gawked at the brand new cars, something she did not expect to have for at least a few years. Brandon parked in front of the main entrance. She got out cautiously, not happy he was going to spend more money on her.

Brandon came around the car and stood next to her. “Ready to drive again?”

“I guess.” She was slightly nervous. Her reaction time was still sometimes a bit slow.

He pulled her into his arms, feeling her angst. “You’ll be fine.” As soon as he let her go, she started to walk to the right, to the trade in lot, “Hey, where you going?”

“To look at cars… duh!”

Brandon shook his head. “Not those cars.” He pointed to the left. “Those.”

She folded her hands over her chest. “Too much.”

“You’re getting a
new
car, got it?” He put his hands on his hips and scowled. “No more shit about you don’t need a new one, or I’m spending too much fucking money. No girl of mine is driving someone else’s problem if I can help it.” His eyes opened wide while his head pointed to the left.

She stood her ground for a few minutes, trying to assert her stubbornness. A glance at her dream car made her resolve start to fade. Brandon knew what she wanted to buy one day. He had brought her there on purpose. One more look at his serious expression and she crumbled.
