“I can handle you. I’ll be just fine.” Kissing his chest, I ran my fingertips across the inside of his arm, tracing the Latin words there. “
Dum Spiro Spero.
” I read the words out loud.
“You asked me once about this tattoo,” Alex whispered, kissing behind my ear. “I wasn’t very truthful with my answer.”
“Oh?” I questioned, moving to look him in the eyes. Pure burning love was gazing back at me.
“I got this ink to remind me not to give up hope.”
“Hope for what?” I frowned, confused. Alex had everything. What more could he hope for?
“That one day, I’d find someone like you. I feel like I’ve been waiting a fucking lifetime for you, Straight Lace.
You
make me want to live.” Tears were falling down my face before I could stop them. “Hey, don’t cry.” He softly kissed them away.
“Alex, that’s the most beautiful thing anyone has ever said to me.”
“You know that my album is all about you, right? You opened up my heart again, and the lyrics just wouldn't stop flowing.” It was all too much to take in. “I’m going to spend every day becoming a better man for you. I want to be someone you deserve, not this recovering addict.”
Taking his face in my hands, I stroked his cheeks. “You don’t have to do any of this alone. I’m here for you. That’s what couples do.”
“Is that what we are now—a couple?” His eyes seemed to glaze over in understanding.
“If you want that, yes.”
“Fuck, Straight Lace, I want it. I want it all!” His lips were hard against mine in an instant. I gave in willingly, pouring all my love and devotion into the kiss.
My life with a rock star had finally begun.
I only hoped touring with Steel Roses wasn’t going to be as bad as Alex had suggested. Spending months at a time on the road with a famous rock band…how bad could it really be? I’d have to wait and see, I guess.
To be continued…
