We continued like that. Him touching me and me touching him with more than my hand.

It was until we were both completely naked and he under me that we got stuck.

We just stopped, panting, staring at each other. Both debating if to continue or just call it off.

“Condom?” I asked.

He blinked and pointed to the drawer on the side of the bed. I took one and ripped it open. All this time he looked at me, as if waiting for me to reject him.

Sorry Mitch but you left me wanting you so much I don’t think I’ll be able to stop anytime now.

I kissed his chest and then slipped the condom on him. I didn’t let him move since I knew his leg would begin to ache if we changed positions.

Once he was fully inside of me I moaned out in pure pleasure and joy.

It was the most beautiful thing that I have done. The way he looked at me like I was the only one who matter made me want to cry in happiness.

Minutes after I laid on top of him, exhausted. But he didn’t let me move just yet. His arms were around me protectively and strong.

“You are so beautiful.” he said softly and kissed my forehead.

I sighed contently and placed a kiss on his chest. “So are you.”

We didn’t say anything after that. Just listening to our breathing and soon we were both drifting off to sleep.

If you had told me a couple of months ago that I’ll be laying in Mitch’s bed, naked and exhausted from making love, I would’ve killed you. But now? There’s nowhere else I would want to be.

Chapter 28

Something’s breathing on my neck.

That’s what brought me back from my dream or more likely nightmare.

It was me seeing the car accident, yelling at mom, shouting at Mitch. Then everything went white and I was at a hospital, talking to myself. It was as if I was seeing things through Hester’s eyes. But then I was sapped aback into myself and she was trying to tell me something.

“Stop moving.”

Shock. Confusion. Nerves. Fear.

Those were a few of the things I felt when I heard that voice close to my ear.

“Mitch?”

“Shh. I’m trying to sleep.” his arms pressed me closer to his bare chest.

That’s when it hit me that I was completely naked. I closed my yes and took a deep breath. Last night’s events came rushing to me and I relaxed.

The dream had left me a tad bit disoriented.

The sudden knock on the door made me jolt and Mitch groaned.

“Gees woman, I’m trying to-”

“Mitch?” Emma asked and knocked again.

He instantly let go of me and sat up, narrowing his eyes at the door and once he noticed it was locked he sighed. “What’s up mom?”

He fell back and stared at the ceiling.

“Did Keller stayed over?” she asked.

“Yes, ma!” he rubbed his eyes.

“Where is she?”

“Here. Sleeping, so could you keep it down a bit?”

‘Liar.’ I was mouthing and he winked.

There was a long pause. “Oh…okay well breakfast will be served in an hour. Make sure to come down.”

Once her foot steps weren’t audible, Mitch turned to look at me. “I think she’s going to have the ‘talk’ with us.”

I chuckled. “Aren’t you a bit too old for that. You’re nearly twenty.”

He gasped. “You make me feel old.” he grabbed me by the waist and made me lay on top of him.

“But she’s, at least, going to talk about protection.”

I sighed. “Well,” I kissed his chin, then his jaw and the tip of his nose. “It was worth it.”

“Yes it was.” and his lips were on my mouth.

After what seemed like hours we both pulled away for breath. “Can I borrow your shower?”

“Sure.” he smiled as I got up. I didn’t even try to cover myself, he already saw me naked so what’s the point?

I did feel a bit uneasy because I could feel his stare on my back as I picked up my stuff.

I went inside the bathroom and took my time showering, thinking.

Thinking about my life. About the accident. How I never knew how the accident really happened. All dad and Maggie said was that it was raining and a car crashed into mom’s car and that’s how they died. I do remembered going to the hospital, only being able to talk to my twin sister Hester for a few minutes before she stopped breathing. The light in her eyes banishing, part of me going with her.

Then Mitch happened. Yeah at first I couldn’t really stand him but his attitude was what lured me in. Even though we’ve been going out for a couple of weeks my feelings for him are growing rapidly. Last night, the way he was with me…gentle and passionate. He treated me like I was the only one who mattered.

I walked out of the bathroom and noticed Mitch was fully dressed and hair wet.

“Where did you take a shower?” I asked as I combed my hair with my own fingers.

“The guest room has a bathroom.” he shrugged and I noticed the bed was made. He noticed me watching. “Mom came in.”

My eyes widened. “Don’t worry she didn’t make any sort of comment.”

“God this is going to be awkward.” I groaned.

“Guys breakfast is ready!” Richard said from downstairs.

“Come on, love.” Mitch said it without thinking.

He stared at me, eyes surprised, and I just… my heart went a hundred miles per hour. No one had called me love. I mean in the way a boyfriend or lover would.

He motioned me with his head to go and we went downstairs.

Emma and Richard were already seating at the table. They smile brightly at us when we also sat down.

We started eating and then Emma cleared her throat.

“Here we go.” Mitch mumbled.

“We both know,” she pointed to Richard and herself. “That you guys are on the age where you start having desires-”

Mitch and I didn’t comment on anything she said, we just stared at our plates red faced.

*-*

“I can’t believe it.” Ambrose laughed as I told him about what happened at Mitch’s house.

“Believe it, it’s the truth.”

“What did Mitch say?” he laid next to me.

“Nothing. Yes, he was embarrassed but didn’t comment on anything.”

“That’s a change.”

I frowned. “Yeah.”

*-Three months later-*

“I’m going to buy some things at the store, want to come?” I asked Mitch.

He just shrugged and got up.

I frowned and we headed to the car.

We didn’t try to make conversation at we headed there, neither when we got inside the store.

It’s been like this for around a week. He practically avoids me and it drives me insane to not know why.

I grabbed the things I needed and we headed back to his place.

“Alright, that’s it. What is wrong with you?” I asked him as we entered the kitchen.

“Nothing.”

“Nothing? Nothing! Of course there is something wrong, you have been avoiding me for a week. You wont let me kiss you or even touch you!”

Yesterday I tried to hold his hand and he pretended to check something on his phone. I nearly cried out in exasperation.

“I said it was nothing so fuck off!”

“I’m your girlfriend, don’t tell me to fuck off.” I snapped back.

There was anger and something else in his eyes that I couldn’t place. “Well I just did.”

“Did I do something wrong? Did I said something I shouldn’t have? Something that offended you? Because I can’t place what is.”

“You didn’t do anything. Its me.”

I groaned. “Its not you its me? Seriously?” I sighed. “Mitch, I’m with you because I like you not because your parents are paying me to take care of you. I don’t give a damn about your money.”

His face softened a little. “It’s not that Keller.”

“Then what is it?” my voice pleading.

“I have to let you go.”

I gasped. “What? Let me go? Why?”

“I don’t want you to be tied to a person like me! Someone who can’t even walk normally. Someone you’ll have to be taking care of. You’re better off with Chad.”

“I don’t like Chad! I don‘t mind taking care of you, I don’t mind the crutches. I want you the way you are.” I can’t believe we are having this argument.

He looked away from my eyes and stood up, turning his back on me. “I don’t want you Keller. This thing we had is over.”

Chapter 29

I don’t want you.

I don’t want you.

I don’t want you.

I couldn’t get those words out of my head.

It’s been a day since he broke up with me and here I am getting ready to go to his house and take care of him.

A pair of blue jeans and a green shirt where on the bed waiting for me to put them on and I did. I grabbed my hair into a messy bun and slipped on my shoes. Woo I’m ready for work…

I walked down the stairs zombie like. So far no one knew I was boyfriend-less. I hate that. I want my boyfriend back! Great now I feel like crying.

“Honey is everything okay?” Maggie asked me as she placed a sandwich in front of me together with a glass of orange juice.

“Just a headache.” I looked down at the plate. “I’m not hungry, give it to Ambrose or Chad.”

Like that I got out of the house and headed to my car.

“Keller!”

I turned around and saw it was Chad. I gritted my teeth and ignored him. I don’t feel like talking to anyone.

I took it slow and arrived ten minutes late. Emma and Richard were already gone and Mitch was seating in the living room watching TV, when he saw me his face brightened and he began to smile. Then he seemed to remember yesterdays events and frowned.

“Hey, do you need anything? Want something to eat?” I asked.

“Scrambled eggs and bacon.”

I nodded and could feel his stare on my back the whole time.

Quietly I made his breakfast and placed the plate on the table. “Mitch breakfast is ready.”

Seconds later he came into view, he stared at me and I had to look away. I busied myself cleaning the kitchen and washing dishes, the whole time feeling his intense stare on my back.

Why are you doing this to me Mitch? First you tell me you don’t want me and now you smile when you see me? You don’t stop staring at me, why?!

I sighed and was ready to ask what his problem was when the bell rung. I let go of the cloth in my hand and walked towards the door.

Alan and Nathan where standing there smiling.

“Keller!” Alan came and hugged me then placed a kiss on my cheek. “I’ve missed you baby.”

“Hello Keller.” Nathan smiled and gave me a quick hug. “Where’s Mitch?”

“Kitchen.” I said trying to force a smile but failing miserably. Before they could ask questions I walked away. Going upstairs to check if there was anything I needed to pick up or do.

My phone vibrated and I answered without taking a glanced at the called ID. “Yes?”

“Keller, baby, don’t even think of hanging up. Can we talk?”

I sighed. “Chad I don’t got time.”

“Of course you do. Can’t you take a break from your boyfriend?”

“He’s not my boyfriend anymore.” I snapped angrily before placing a hand on my mouth.

Way to go Keller.

“What? Oh what happened? Did that idiot hurt you because if he did I will beat the shit out of him. I don’t care if he’s a crippled-”

“Don’t talk that way about him you idiot!” and I hung up.

How dare he?

I went downstairs and was about to enter the kitchen when I heard the guys talking.

“Why did you do that?” Nathan asked shocked.

“Because.”

“That’s a dumb answer Mitch, even for you.” Alan said in an equal pissed voice.

“We all know how much you like her.” Nathan said.

“Look its none of your business so shove off okay?”

“No.” Both of his best friends said at the same time, anger and worry in that one word.

Mitch groaned. “I did what was best for all of us.” then I heard movement and quickly found a spot to hide. Mitch walked up to the stairs, Nathan and Alan following close. “I’ll be in my room painting. Don’t disturb me. And tell Keller she can take her day off. Tell her to be here by ten tomorrow.”

Once I heard the door of his room close I got out of my hiding place and both guys saw me.

“Keller-” Alan began but I shook my head.

“I heard. Tomorrow at ten.” I grabbed my bag and walked out of the house.

Then I dialed Ambrose’s number, after two rings he picked up. “Hey girl, what’s up?”

“Are you busy?”

“No. Is something wrong?” his sounded worried.

“I need a friend right now.” my voice cracked.

“I’m at Chris’s apartment. Can you come?”
