CHAPTER FIVE

At last they all had the same day off so Wyn, Betty, William and Ned decided to go into the village together as they had been told that once every summer a German band passed through the village and they would be playing outside the inn.  The band was composed of a father and his six sons, the eldest of which played the cornet, the youngest beat the drum.  They sat in a circle in green uniforms and played the kind of music none of them had ever heard before although it is was quite entertaining.

‘Well, that was different,’ remarked William when they had finished.  There was also a man with a dancing bear.  It danced with a long pole balanced across its front paws and then did exercises at the command of the man.

‘Poor thing,’ said Wyn, ‘look at the state of him.’

His fur was mangy and the smell of him turned their stomachs.

‘He’s obviously very old,’ said Betty.  ‘You should be ashamed,’ she said to the man.

He just gave her an evil look and turned away.

‘Let’s see what the inn has to offer,’ suggested William.  They all turned and went inside.  The landlord brought them mugs of frothing beer.  Wyn and Betty took very small sips of the beer as neither of them had ever tasted it before and they both pulled a face.

‘Yuk,’ said Betty as she tried taking another sip.  ‘I suppose I’ll get used to it.’

They sat quietly for a minute drinking until they heard shouting coming from outside.  They were curious so went outside to have a look and saw a wagon full of household items.  The man sitting on top of the wagon was a small, thin-legged old man.  He was wearing an old velvet coat with a feather stuck in the band of his battered old hat and he had an old red and yellow neckerchief knotted round his neck.  He set his stock out on the ground and rang a bell to get attention.  He had all kinds of items for the home for sale from tea cloths to full dinner services.  Wyn and Betty ran over to have a look.

‘I never realised life in the country was so exciting,’ Betty remarked.

They jumped back as women and children started running towards the wagon to see what there was to buy.  A fight broke out between two of the women over a set of jugs.

‘Now, now you two,’ the odd little man said.  ‘There’s another set over here, you can both have one.’  The two women went off happy, each holding a set of jugs.

Wyn and Betty walked back over to William and Ned laughing.

‘I’ve never seen anything like that,’ said Wyn.

‘Me neither,’ responded Betty.  ‘What shall we do now?’ she asked.

‘There’s the small market town of Crampney nearby and it’s market day,’ said William, ‘let’s go and see what they’ve got there.  It’s not too far to walk.’

They all agreed and walked out of Ripplesdown along the road to Crampney.  As it was market day, there were a lot of carts and wagons travelling along the road.  They had to keep to the verge where the grass was quite high which made walking difficult.

‘Oh my!’ exclaimed Wyn after tripping again.  ‘This is not easy walking.’

‘Come on,’ replied William smiling, ‘stop moaning and just walk.’

‘It’s alright for you,’ she replied ‘you haven’t got your best shoes on.  I don’t want to spoil them.’

The traffic on the road eased so they could walk in the road for a bit which made the going easier.

In the distance they could see the spire of the church and knew they were getting closer to the town.

‘I think we’ll find an inn first,’ said William.  ‘I could do with a bite to eat and a drink.’  They all readily agreed and walked into the town.  They could see crowds of people walking down rows of stalls with all kinds of goods for sale.  Wyn started feeling quite excited by everything she was seeing.

‘Come on,’ said William, ‘let’s find the inn first, I‘m really thirsty, then we’ll go explore.  It looks like there is going to be a lot to see.’

They sat down in the inn which was full of people.  There was a lot of talking as most of the customers of the inn were there to sell their goods and prices were being argued about.  They drank their beer which was very welcome as they were all very thirsty.  As soon as they were finished they went outside into the sunshine.

There were market stalls selling all kinds of goods from fruit and vegetables to the meat stalls.  The fish market was hidden from view although you could still smell where it was.  Further up the hill were the pens for the livestock market.  They were full of lambs, calves and pigs waiting to be sold.  Wyn felt quite sorry for them. They walked all around the town.  There were cottages with railings enclosing their front gardens which were full of flowers.  There was the railway station and shops.  It took them a long time to walk around.  As they walked down the main street they saw a man on a penny farthing.

‘I don’t think I could ever ride on one of those do you?’ Wyn asked them.

William was watching fascinated.  ‘I want one,’ he said.

‘Me too,’ said Ned, ‘it looks like fun.  I don’t know how he stays on it.’

All too soon it was time to start making their way home.  It was getting towards dusk and the sun was starting to set.  It was quite a long walk back.   They had bought some bread and cheese and decided to eat it by the side of a little brook sitting with their feet in the water.  When all the bread and cheese had gone William said, ‘come on we’ve got to get back before it’s really dark.’  They started walking again but they were getting tired and slower.

‘We’ve got to rest,’ Wyn exclaimed, ‘I’m so tired.’

‘Alright,’ William agreed, ‘let’s just go over there and sit under the trees.’

They all walked off the road into the field running alongside the road.  It was a lot darker by now and they were finding it hard to see their way.  William sat down next to Wyn.  Ned and Betty had walked further away.  William put his arm around Wyn and drew her towards him.  She didn’t stop him when he raised her face to his and kissed her gently.  She felt a shiver run down her back. William intensified the kiss, putting his tongue in her mouth.  It felt a lot different from the kisses she and Betty shared but it was much nicer, although she liked what she and Betty did.  She could feel the whiskers on his face scrapping against her cheek and there were wonderful sensations building in her body but she remembered Betty’s warning about getting into trouble.  She pulled away from him.

‘What’s wrong?’ asked William in a husky voice.

‘I can’t,’ replied Wyn, ‘it’s wrong.  Let’s just get back now.’

She was just going to call to Betty when she heard a very loud slapping noise and Betty came running out of the shadows.  She put her arm through Wyn’s.

‘Come on,’ she cried ‘let’s go.’

‘Betty,’ shouted Ned, ‘I’m sorry, I thought you wanted to.’

‘Well now you know,’ replied Betty as she and Wyn went back onto the road and started walking.  It seemed to take a long time but they finally saw the house ahead of them.  Wyn turned to William and kissed him on the cheek, ‘thank you for a very nice day,’ she said ‘I had a very nice time.’

‘Me too,’ replied William, ‘we’ll have to find somewhere else to go next time.’

‘I’d like that,’ said Wyn.

She turned in time to see Ned giving Betty a quick kiss.

When Wyn and Betty were in their room Betty told Wyn that something strange had happened when she had gone to meet Ned at the stables.  ‘I’m sure I saw Frank Cooper.’

‘You can’t of,’ replied Wyn, ‘he’s dead, we saw his body.’

‘I know,’ replied Betty, ‘but it really looked like him.’

‘Maybe you’ve started seeing ghosts,’ suggested Wyn laughing.

Betty just shrugged and said that she was probably just seeing things and that it wasn’t worth worrying about.  She then asked Wyn what had happened between her and William in the dark.  ‘He just kissed me,’ replied Wyn, ‘but it started feeling too nice so I stopped him.  What happened with you and Ned?’

‘Ned went too far,’ replied Betty, ‘he put his hand on my breast so I slapped him.  We were friends by the time we got back though, so we can all go out again the next time we all have a day off together as it was fun wasn’t it?’

‘Yes,’ replied Wyn, ‘I enjoyed myself.  I really like William.’

Once they were in bed they talked more about the day and all the things they had done.

‘I liked sitting in the Inn,’ said Wyn, ‘that was the first time I’ve ever been inside one.’

‘Me too,’ replied Betty, ‘when’s our next day off? I can’t wait.’

‘Not for a couple of weeks,’ Wyn told her.

‘Oh that’s too long, I like going out with you, William and Ned.’

‘You just want more kisses,’ said Wyn, ‘me too.’

They lay back and talked about what they might let William and Ned do next time they were alone, getting quite excited in the process.  They started to touch themselves and each other again.  They were learning about each other’s and their own bodies and the pleasure they were feeling was getting more intense.

‘I did enjoy kissing William,’ Wyn told Betty as Betty starting really kissing her, ‘but this is so nice too.  I really want to feel his body on mine but I know it’s not the right thing to do yet.’

She moaned as Betty moved her fingers lower and pushed one right inside Wyn moving it in and out, at the same time rubbing the nub of her sex.  Wyn could feel the pleasure building, ‘turn around,’ she told Betty huskily, ‘I want to taste you.’  Betty quickly turned around and Wyn used her tongue until she felt the wetness and heard the cry as Betty’s pleasure climaxed.

A few weeks later Wyn and Betty were walking around the estate, as they had a rare couple of hours off, when they came across an old barn.

‘Let’s go in,’ suggested Betty, ‘I’ve never been inside a barn before.’

They went in and were disappointed that there were just bales of hay.  Betty spotted a ladder leading up to another level.

‘I’m going to see what’s up there,’ she told Wyn.

‘Be careful,’ Wyn replied.  ‘There could be spiders and mice up there.’

‘Ugh I’ll be careful,’ said Betty.

She climbed up the ladder and disappeared from sight.  A few minutes later she called down, ‘come up Wyn, it’s an amazing view from up here.’

Wyn climbed the ladder, looked through the hatch that Betty was looking through and stood staring in wonder at the view in front of her.  They could see for miles across the countryside from up there.  There were cows and sheep in the fields and they could even see the glimmer of water on a stream in the distance.

‘Ooh it’s lovely,’ whispered Wyn. ‘So peaceful and quiet.’

They sat with their legs dangling out of the hatch and just looked at everything in front of them.  Suddenly there was a sound from down below and they both jumped.

‘What’s that?’ whispered Wyn.

‘I don’t know,’ replied Betty.  She eased herself towards the edge of the floor and looked down.  Wyn heard her gasp and edged her way forward to join her.  Betty put her finger to her lips and whispered ‘shh.’  She pointed down.  Wyn looked down and saw Mr Charles down there with the farmer’s wife, Annie.  ‘Oh,’ she mouthed to Betty.  As they watched, Mr Charles took Annie into his arms and started kissing her passionately.  They sank onto a hay bale and Mr Charles started undressing Annie.  He undid her blouse and exposed her voluptuous breasts.  He moved his fingers over her nipples and she gasped.  His hand moved further down her body and he pulled her skirt off.  She wasn’t wearing any kind of under garment and her womanhood was immediately exposed.  ‘Undo me,’ Mr Charles moaned.  Annie undid his shirt and ran her hands over his chest, her fingers mingling with his hair.  She tugged on his nipples and he gave a loud moan.  ‘Lower,’ he gasped as her hand started moving further down his body.  She undid his trousers and his large member sprang out.  Wyn and Betty gaped at it in surprise.  It was very large and erect.  They looked at each other and had to stop themselves from laughing out loud.  Mr Charles moaned louder as Annie put her hand around him and started moving it up and down.  ‘Stop, stop,’ moaned Mr Charles ‘or it’ll be over too soon.’  He moved on top of her and started putting small kisses all down her body until he got to the heart of her sex.  He moved his tongue around in circles and Annie’s body arched in pleasure.  ‘Oh quick,’ she said, ‘get inside me, I’m ready.’  Mr Charles got on top of her, inserted his member inside her and started moving up and down moving faster and faster.  Annie was moaning in pleasure until she suddenly cried out as she climaxed.  Charles immediately pulled out of her body and she moved down to take him into her mouth.  Mr Charles had hold of her head pushing himself backwards and forwards in her mouth faster and faster.  He suddenly went still and then his body started jerking in pleasure.  He cried out loudly.  It all went quiet and Mr Charles gave Annie a long kiss.  ‘That was wonderful,’ he told her.  They lay down together in a satisfied silence.

Wyn and Betty were getting concerned as they had been in the barn for a long time and knew they had to be back in to the house shortly. They looked at each other but couldn’t say anything because the two people down below would hear them.  They just had to lay there and wait.  Just then there was a noise coming from outside the barn and Mr Charles and Annie jumped up.
