But they were just beginning, weren’t they?

The shakes grew stronger and more pressing. There was no way to stop them now, and Gina was aware she was going to explode any minute now.

“Fuck it, Geoff, I’m going to come,” she said breathlessly, and let off another moan as Geoff reached out and fondled her breast with one hand.

“Ride the wave, Gina,” he told her, as he pulled at her breast while he went on sliding in and out of her.

By now she could feel his thrusting was becoming more demanding, more urgent. She realized he was about to come as well, and maybe even at the same time that she was going to. No matter. Much as she wanted to, she couldn’t think about it any longer. Her orgasm was looming over the horizon now. She couldn’t help it. She was going to erupt any minute now. She opened her mouth to tell Geoff that she was close, so close to coming off that—

“Gina,” Geoff said.

“Geoff,” Gina replied, breathless and panting from all that pumping. “Geoff, oh, shit, I’m going to—”

“Gina, what are you talking about?” Geoff asked, puzzled.

Gina was confused. What was wrong with him? He suddenly sounded so different from the Geoff she had just fucked a few minutes ago. Okay, so she hadn’t come yet, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to. After all, she was this close to spilling her exotic juices on his sheets. She was going to come, all right, and she suddenly wanted to do it with his face right on top of her pussy. Hey, why not? She was confident he was going to like the idea.

Then she felt someone shake her shoulder hard—almost painful, really. She opened her eyes, ready to tell the person off, and when she did, she saw that the person was Geoff.

“Geoff?” she asked stupidly.

Geoff’s dark-blue eyes stared back at her light-blue ones. “Gina, are you okay?” he asked. “Did you sleep well?”

It was only then that Gina noticed that the bedroom, so pitch black and unseen the night before, was now filled with light. She had to squint against the glaring sun. What was going on? How did it become so bright all of a sudden? And what was Geoff doing on the floor, kneeling on the space beside the bed when he should’ve been—

It came to her like water hitting a dam head on.

“Oh, shit!” Gina exclaimed, and hurriedly went into an upright sitting position.

“Hey, hey!” Geoff said, alarmed. “Easy, easy does it. Gina, what’s wrong?” He gazed at her anxiously.

Looking back into Geoff’s baby blues, the reality of what had happened hit Gina full in the face.

I’ve been dreaming all along, she thought. Geoff didn’t really come in here last night. We didn’t get naked. We didn’t touch each other. There was no kiss. We didn’t fuck each other. Nothing. There was only nothing.

The realization made her laugh bitterly. She didn’t know whether she was going to be relieved or sad at the whole stupidity of it. She remembered Geoff’s words the night before, about how he wasn’t going to touch an inch of her and how he wasn’t the least bit attracted to her although he did say she was a knockout.

“Gina, you’re acting weird. Are you sure you’re all right?” There was no mistaking the worry in Geoff’s eyes. It made Gina laugh some more.

“I’m fine,” she answered. “What happened?”

“That’s what I’ve been meaning to ask you,” he responded. “I was out to get a glass of water when I hear you scream and moan in here. You sounded like you were in, I don’t know, in pain, I guess.” He shrugged. “That must be a wicked nightmare, huh?”

Gina stared at him. “Yeah, it was a wicked dream, all right.”

He nodded wisely. “I knew it. It didn’t really sound like you, you know. I thought you were having . . .” His voice trailed off.

“You thought I was having what?” Gina prompted him.

Geoff turned a little pink at the cheeks, but he went on anyway. “Okay, I thought you were having sex with someone.” He grinned. “Crazy, right?”

Gina shut her eyes. He didn’t know how close he was to the truth of the matter.

“Geoff, you have no idea,” she said wearily.

Cheryl Reconsiders

“You can’t not hire me,” Ed hissed. His light brown eyes, calm and pleasant only about an hour ago, were now narrowed into slits and blazing with fury. The large table prevented Cheryl from seeing his hands, but she wouldn’t be surprised to find out they were balled into tight fists and moving about frantically in his lap. The man was in a rage, all right. Who wouldn’t be, after what she had done to him? She had practically stepped on the man’s future, sending it back into the dark and hazy state it was in before he had been granted the interview and with it a glimmer of hope.

Stay calm, Cheryl told herself mentally. You can’t let your emotions rule this time. You know how that went the last time. It’s your job on the line too. Screw this up, and your future’s going to be as dark as this man’s.

“Mr. Collins, as much as I would like to give you the go signal, I just can’t,” Cheryl said coolly, trying to sound as professional as possible. She glanced down at Ed’s file, pretending to read something from it. Which was a total act, of course, as she had known everything she needed to know about the man by heart. It was all part of the job.

“Why not?” Ed demanded. “I met all the qualifications. I have the considerable amount of experience tucked under my belt. I know a lot about the projects your company usually deals with. I have some friends in all the high places. I can name names, and you can ask them for my credentials.” He leaned closer to the desk and looked at Cheryl’s face earnestly. “I wouldn’t lie to you about this. I’m not dropping names. You can check them out right now if you want.” He fished in his pocket and took out his cell phone. “Here, you can use my phone. I have their numbers on my contacts list.”

His desperation made her feel sad. She genuinely liked the man and agreed that he fit all the qualifications to a tee. But there was something in his answers during the interview that raised red flags in her gut, and it was on her gut feel that she relied. It was her infamous gut feel that made her indispensable in the firm, the gut feel that gave the company not only the right people but also the best people. Cheryl’s human relations skill was not unknown in the workforce, and her ability to weed out the creams of the crop from the dicks was almost legendary. Yet she was human too, of course, as proven from the fiasco that ran a few months back. It was the only time in her considerable career that she had messed up majorly. For that feat alone, the higher-ups had agreed to let her hold on to the job. The warning she received wasn’t pretty, though, and it was all she had to think about from stopping herself from changing her no to a yes in Ed’s case.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Collins, but my answer’s fixed,” Cheryl responded. She didn’t even reach out and attempt to touch the phone, which found its way back to its owner’s pocket. “You’re gifted and talented, and you have an impressive work experience after you. But unfortunately, you’re not what we’re looking for. There’s more to a person than their skills or work experience, see. We’re looking for the overall package, the absolute deal.” She placed Ed’s file down her desk. “Again, I’m sorry, but my answer’s a no. And that’s fixed.”

Ed wasn’t deterred. “That’s bullshit,” he said. His voice remained calm enough, but his eyes told of a different story. Cheryl could see and feel the pure fury emanating from those lovely brown eyes. The contrast was amazing, and she found it hard to look away from the man’s poisonous gaze. It was incredible how a pair of eyes could look warm and kind and blaze with fury at the same time.

Oh, boy. Here we go again, she thought wearily. It all came with the job, of course, and she was used to dealing with tempers that came from people born with short fuses, but it didn’t mean that she liked doing it at all.

Cheryl crossed her legs, and she felt her bare thighs brush against each other. It was part of her self-imposed rules that she go commando during interviews. Beneath her stiff and crisp tailored jacket and knee-length A-line skirt, she wasn’t wearing an inch of underwear. Going commando gave her a secret kind of power, something she needed to give off during interviews. It thrilled her that the potential employers, usually more male than female, went on yakking about how they fit the job position this and that while having no idea that a few steps from them the female interviewer was as naked underneath as the day she was born. Several times she had considered flashing the male applicants, but she hadn’t gotten around to doing it just yet. She had yet to muster up the courage to do so. Besides, what would her bosses say if they ever find out?

Being the pricks that they are, they’d probably beg for a flash or two as well, she thought, and sighed inwardly. She figured some people were just born that way.

Cheryl turned her attention back to Ed. “Call it whatever you want, Mr. Collins, but I’m not changing my answer,” she said, her voice becoming colder. She shifted in her seat, and feeling how her thighs brushed against each other, she felt that surge of power again, her secret knowledge doing miracles to her confidence level. She felt a man like Ed Collins wasn’t the type to back down without a fight, and she was determined to be prepared should that moment come.

“I can’t believe you,” Ed said. The fury had not gone from his eyes, but his voice had lowered down a notch. “I’m never the type to beg, Ms. Hawkins, but I’m begging you now.” His brown eyes met Cheryl’s hazel ones. “Please, I need this job so bad. You just can’t . . . you just can’t say no. You just can’t refuse me like this.”

Cheryl’s sympathy turned into revulsion. She couldn’t stand it when people begged, when they lowered their standards for something. She was appalled that someone as rough looking and sturdy as Ed Collins would go around begging her for another chance at a yes. She studied him with an irritated look. “You just sealed the deal with that childish begging, Mr. Collins,” she told him, irritation evident in her tone. “The company doesn’t need beggars. We do away with such people.” Her hazel eyes burned into his brown ones. “I was right in saying no all along. I knew it would come to this. I’m not sorry I said no, and I’m not sorry for listening to what my gut had told me all along.” She glanced at the clock mounted right above the door. “We’re past the allotted time, Mr. Collins. You may now leave. Again, I’m sorry, but we have to do what we have to do.” She began gathering the papers strewn all over her desk.

Ed did not move an inch. He remained seated, staring at her intently with eyes that still blazed of rage and fury, telling her he was far from pleased by her firm refusal. She ignored his poisonous gaze and went on fixing her desk.

“I bet you’re being a bitch because you haven’t been fucked in years,” Ed spoke up.

His words caught Cheryl by surprise, and she froze for a moment. “Excuse me?” She heard right, but she wanted to be sure.

The nerve of this man! she screamed inside her head.

“I said you’re just being cold and callous because no man ever went to bed with you,” Ed answered calmly. “You’re strung out. You’re dry. You’re a virgin because nobody wants you. If you’ve been fucked, well, you can’t even remember the last time it happened, can you?” He laughed. His laughter was low but full of meaning. “What was the last thing that slid inside your pussy, huh? A carrot? Your measly finger?” He laughed again.

Cheryl was incensed. How dare he talk to her that way! And what business was it of his if she hadn’t gone to bed with a man in a long time? Apparently, Ed Collins was a psycho, and he needed to be driven out of the room right away.

“How dare you say those things to me!” she cried out. “Get out, Mr. Collins. Get out right now, or I’m calling the guards.” She was losing her temper now, but she no longer cared. She had never been burned and humiliated this way, and in her own territory at that.

“Don’t get so worked up, Cheryl,” Ed said soothingly. Now he was addressing her by her first name. She couldn’t believe it.

“Calm down,” he repeated. “I know the types of you. I know what you all want. It’s the same thing. You act mean to a man you know you can’t have out in the streets. You enjoy cutting them down to pieces with your so-called power because it’s the only way you can have them.” He chuckled. “But you’re wilting and shaking inside, I bet. You’re craving for a piece of flesh. A man’s flesh.”

Without warning he stood up and walked over to Cheryl’s side of the desk. She opened her mouth to scream, but before she could, an arm reached out and slapped her briskly on the cheek. She fell back on her chair at the force, her head swinging to the other side.

Cheryl couldn’t believe it. Did he actually just slap her? How dare he! He was going to pay for it, she decided. She was calling the guards then the police, then she was going to throw him into prison where he could rot for all she cared.

“You bastard!” she shouted. “I’m calling the police!” She reached for the phone, but he swatted her hand away. She felt how strong and powerful he was, and all of a sudden, she knew she was at his mercy. They were all alone in her office. The room was soundproof, as was most of the rooms in the building. She was trapped.

“Cheryl, listen to me,” Ed said patiently, as if he was talking to a five-year-old child and not a woman in her midtwenties. “I’m not going to hurt you. I’m just going to give you what you want so you can give me what I want.” He looked down at her. “That’s all. You can get rough all you want, and I’m going to get rough back, but I don’t intend to hurt you, all right?”

“Like you expect me to believe that,” Cheryl spat out. She felt her lip swelling. Her cheek burned, and her bun had come undone. Unbelievably, though, but she felt a bit turned on at the fact that he had hit her. She had seen movie clips and read books concerning such scenarios, but until now, it had never happened to her. She knew Ed was right. She had not gone to bed with a man for the longest time, and it hurt being told that in the face by someone whom she had never even met until about an hour ago.

Cheryl had to be honest: Ed’s offer was tempting. He was right. She was hungry for attention, for a man’s touch, for a man’s feel, for a man’s flesh. But what about her solid reputation? What about her knack for remaining firm to her refusal even though men would readily grovel at her feet just so she could move them to the next stage of the employment process? She was torn and confused.

Ed knelt before her. He was a tall man, and when he knelt, his face was at the same level with Cheryl’s. She eyed him warily, not sure what he would do next. Would he hit her again?

“What are you doing?” she asked him harshly. “If you’re going to hit me again, I swear—”

But he didn’t hurt her. Instead he planted his lips over her, giving her the softest kiss she had that she could remember. The feel of his lips over hers took her breath away. It was as if a dam had been broken, and suddenly, she remembered with amazing intensity how it felt to have a man want her, touch her, and do whatever she liked to be done to her. The dam broke, and the flood coursed through her. She had forgotten how a man tasted like, how incredibly good. Her thoughts ran in mad circles around her head, and without realizing it, she had wrapped her arms around Ed’s neck and pulled him closer to her.

Ed took her response as an encouragement, and he responded the same way. His arms encircled Cheryl’s tiny waist. All the while the kiss never broke. It went from soft and gentle to hard and rough, almost urgent. Without thinking, Cheryl slid her tongue into Ed’s mouth, where it explored at every inch.

He took in her tongue gladly and sucked softly on it. This made her moan. Her hands wound to his hair, where they gripped handfuls of brown strands. His hands went from her waist to her buttocks, where they grabbed each butt cheek and groped madly.

Cheryl stood up from her seat, and so did Ed. Still kissing her, he placed his hands beneath her arms and lifted her. She was surprised, but she didn’t break their kiss. She released her hands from his hair and used them to sweep the papers and other things off her desk. She did this with her back turned, and things fell into a messy heap on the floor. When everything was clear, he set her down on the table and increased the intensity of his kiss.

“Oh, Ed,” Cheryl murmured. She was beyond caring now. Her thoughts of concern and her reputation flew out the window. Her fingers found the front of Ed’s jacket and peeled it off him, revealing the crisp white shirt he wore underneath.
