Chapter 16

Ayce

The next day, Ava was released from the hospital and I insisted that she stay with me for a couple days so I could make sure she was ok, which turned into three weeks, but I wasn't complaining. She even helped me pick out a Honda Fit for Kalie. I wanted to get her something more, but she didn't want anything flashy.  Going to school and making sure Ava was good, was what my life had become and I loved coming home to her. I still handled my business for Duce, had to so I could make sure everything was good.

Today I had to take my last final of the semester in Legal Communications and it wasn't an easy final, but I think I aced it.

Getting off the phone from checking on Ava, I see Ric pull up next to my car.

“Aye school boy, what's good?”

“Shit, what's good with you?”

“Everything good ova here and it’s about to get better. Get in the truck.”

Pulling up at one of the traps I collected money from, I got out the car and dapped up Moose. He was a lil’ nigga that was cool as a fan. Since I've been on the team he has gone out of his way to try to school me on who to trust and who not to trust.

Walking into the house all I could smell is funk. I know it was a trap house, but damn, this is the worst one out of the eight. Some houses I collected from were clean and livable, but this was far from it. I figured since I was here I would go ahead and pick up the money too.

“We will get that shit later nigga,” Ric said. “Let me show you something in the other room.”

I walked over a couple of crack heads that were laid out on the floor and followed Ric into one of the back rooms. As soon as he showed me who was in the room, I was ready for blood.

“This nigga came in here early this afternoon begging to suck anybody’s dick to get a hit. Moose knew who he was as soon as he seen him and gave him a bundle to keep him here.

I walked up to Joe and snatched him up in the middle of him shooting up.

I punched him over and over, kicked him in his shit, and then punched him some more. When he fell to the floor, I stomped him not caring where my foot landed on his body.

“You killed my fucking mama? You gonna die today, you fucking bitch ass nigga. I’mma send yo’ ass to hell.” Tears start running down my face from all the anger and hurt that I was feeling at the moment.

He looked at me and started to laugh.

“That bitch deserved to die.”

“What the fuck you just say?” I said pulling out my heat.

“I said, your mother deserve
d

I emptied the whole clip into his face before walking out the room and hitting the wall.

“It’s ova now baby boy. That nigga dead. Come on now, let’s take a ride bruh,” Ric said as we walked out of the house.

“Yo Moose, call the cleanup crew to clean this pile of shit up,” I said getting into the truck.

“You good Ayce?” Ric asked.

“Yeah, I'm good, that nigga dead now and my mama can rest knowing that he is no longer breathing.”

As we drove to the other houses, I just sat silently in my thoughts. I know that my mother wouldn't be happy with me right now, but no way was I going to let that nigga continue to live.

Pulling into the park, Big Sean's “I'm Blessed” bumped through the speakers. Ric pulled out a bag of weed and started rolling a blunt.

“You wanna hit this shit?” Ric asked lighting it up.

“Naw I'm good.”

I have taken a drink from time to time, but I never smoked anything before.

“You sure, it will calm your nerves?”

I figured fuck it and took a long puff of the blunt, choking on the smoke. Ric started laughing at me.

“You trying to hit that shit like you a pro nigga, just tap it.”

I didn't pay him any attention as I took a couple more hits. At first I felt a little on edge, but then this calmness came over me and it felt like I was on cloud nine.

“What you wanna get into now?” Ric asked.

“We need to go run this money to the casino, but I need to get a change of clothes first, then you can just take me back to my car.”

Ric ran me past my mother's house that still sat on the market. I had a couple of things there that I hadn't taken over to the house yet.

“Let's get it,” I said getting back into the truck.

“Alright,” Ric said passing the blunt back to me.

Since we were at the casino, Ric and I decided to gamble a little.

Sitting at the blackjack table I feel someone wrap their arm around me. I assume its Ava because it’s her daddy's casino and she is usually always here.

“Hey boo, I missed you so much,” she said wrapping her arms tightly around me.

Now that voice didn't belong to my Ava, but I knew who it belonged to.

Turning around and looking at her, I had to admit she was looking hella fine, and my dick noticed how good she looked too… but what the hell was she doing here?

“What you want Remy?”

“Come on now, don't act like that, I know that you miss me too,” she said rubbing my dick through my pants. She licked her lips before trying to kiss me and for a moment, I was caught up in her.

Pushing her off me I could see her facial expression go from lust to attitude in a matter of seconds.

“What's the problem Ayce?” she asked with irritation in her voice.

“No problem at all, I just don't want you in my space,” I said turning my attention back to the table.

“Don't be like this Ayce. We are good together and we both want the same things. Don't tell me you with that bitch Ava now.”

That was the last straw, because my baby wasn't even here to defend herself.

“Remy, we are not together, never have been, never will be. Now I'm trying not to be disrespectful, so please get the fuck out of my face.”

“Wow, this is some funny shit, but okay baby, I'll let you get that one off. I'll leave you alone for now, but we are going to be togethe
r
that I promise you,” Remy said as she walked away.

I went back to playing blackjack and dismissed Remy and that stupid shit she was talking all together.

“Yo nigga, you ready to roll?” Ric asked.

“Yeah, just take me home ‘cause a nigga done had a couple of drinks. I will have Ava take me to get my car tomorrow.”

When I got into the house, all I could think about was burying my dick up in Ava's pussy, but when I went into the bedroom, all I could hear were whimpers. Peeking into the bathroom, I could see Ava over the toilet puking. I walked over to her and rubbed her back. She looked at me and tried to talk, but before she could get anything out, she was puking again.

For the rest of the night, Ava spent most of the time puking which meant I couldn't get my dick wet. When she finally came to lie next to me, she was crying and her skin was burning up.

“You want to go to the hospital baby?”

She shook her head no and so I let her be. When I woke up the next morning she was gone.

Chapter 17

Ava

I woke up early this morning back over the toilet again. I didn't know what was wrong with me but my stomach had been giving me hell for the past two days.  Careful not to wake up Ayce, I pulled on some sweats and a wife beater and walked down the stairs. I tried getting something to drink, but that came back up to. Grabbing my phone and keys to my car, I got into my car and drove home. As soon as I got in the house, I was over the toilet again. I managed to make it to my bed where I just laid there for a while, hoping that my stomach would settle. I must have dozed off because when I looked at the clock it was 12:47pm and someone was banging on my door like they were the damn police. I reached into my nightstand drawer, grabbed my .22 and walked down the stairs. Peeking out the window first, I saw my girl, Ash standing at the door.

“What the fuck, why are you beating on my door like that?” I asked opening the door for her. When she came in I didn't expect her little friend Jasmine to be with her.

“Where you been? I been calling and texting you since you were released from the hospital and you act like you too good to answer me, so I had to do a drive by to make sure you were okay,” Ash said going to sit on my couch. Jasmine stood by the door with her arms crossed over her chest, mean mugging me.

“Well as you can see I'm good, so now you can go.”

“Why you acting like that, I just got here?”

“Why you bring her over my house? You know I don't fuck with her like that, so why is she here?”

“Come on Ava, don't act like that. Jasmine is cool people.”

“She don't look like it standing over there looking at me like that. Plus, the bitch didn't even speak when she walked up in my house.”

“You don't have to talk about me like I'm not here. I can hear you.”

“The fuck I care if you can hear me. Man Ash, get her the fuck outta my house. You can come back when you dolo.”

“What the fuck you do to Slick?”

“Bitch, what you just say to me?” I had to ask because was this bitch addressing me.

“You heard me! I said what the fuck did you do to Slick?

I walked over to her because I was about to fuck her up, but my stomach got the best of me so instead, I had to run to the bathroom to puke again.

“What the fuck is your problem?” I heard Ash ask Jasmine.

“She did something to Slick and I want to know what.”

“Why would you think that Jasmine?”

“So you on her side now?”

“I'm just wondering why you would think she has anything to do with Slick disappearing. It's like you know something we don't know.”

“Why don't you ask your fucking friend? She was fucking Slick and now he’s gone.”

I cleaned myself up the best I could before I went back out into the front room. I had heard enough of this shit and I just wanted to be alone.

“Both of y'all need to get the fuck out, just go. Yo’ ass lucky I can't fuck yo’ ass up like I want to,” I said hunched over holding my stomach.

Jasmine walked over to me and tried to put her hands on me, but my ish Ash was on top of that shit.

“What the fuck you doing?” she asked snatching her up by her hair.

“Get the off me Ashley, I’mma beat it out her ass. She’s going to tell me where the fuck my man is.”

“You know what Jasmine, get out.”

“What you mean get out?”

“You heard me, just get out.”

“But you are my ride, how do you expect me to get home?”

“You should have thought about that before you tried to be a super thug.”

Jasmine looked at us and started laughing.

“You should choose your sides wisely Ashley,” Jasmine said as she walked out my door and slammed it.

“Ash, what were you thinking bringing her over here?”

“I really wasn't because we have all hung out before.”

“I tolerate her because she is your friend, but you know I don't like that girl or trust her.”

“Ok, will never happen again. On to other things, you look like shit girl.”

“Wow, thanks.”

“No really, you do. How long have you been like this?”

“A couple of days, why?”

“You remember when you had your last period?”

I sat and thought for a moment, but it's been so much going on that I couldn't remember when the last time was I had one.

“I can't remember.”

“Well, I think you need this more than me,” Ash said handing me a pregnancy test.

“Why are you walking around with a pregnancy test in your damn purse?”

“For situations like this, now go piss on the stick.”

It had never occurred to me that I may be pregnant. I thought it was Ayce's cooking that had me all fucked up. I went into the kitchen first and grabbed a plastic cup to pee in. I just didn't trust myself to pee on the stick and not drop it in the toilet. I didn't have to pee at first, so I went back into the kitchen to grab me two water bottles.

“What's taking you so long?” Ash yelled from the living room.

“Ish just wait.”

I downed both bottles of water while I sat on the toilet, and finally I had to pee. I filled the cup up and stuck the tip of the pregnancy test in it. Setting the test on the tub, I flushed the rest of the pee and read the rest of the directions. I had to wait three minutes before I read the test, but I looked at it anyway because I wanted to make sure it was working. The word ‘Pregnant’ appeared on the little screen and my heart rate immediately sped up. Shit, I can't be pregnant. How was I going to reign in these streets if I am pregnant? No way Ayce would allow that to happen.

“Shit, shit, shit.”

Boom, Boom, Boom!

Ashley knocking at the door caused me to jump a little.

“Stop banging on my damn doors like that,” I said opening the door with the test in my hand, but it wasn't Ashley; this time it was Ayce.
