“I guess you’re right,” Justin agreed.
“So, once
you’re married
, you and Lily-Grace are going to move in here right?” Sophia asked. “And then we’ll be a proper family who lives together in the one house and no one has to go home at the end of the day.”
“Yes, we will,” Justin said. “We are already a family though.”
“That’s what I said,” Sophia said. “Well,” Sophia looked at her sister who was watching the proceedings now nervously. “the next question is for you, Mom.”
“Me, what would you like to ask?” Destiny smiled at Sophia but also at Lily-Grace who looked unusually sheepish.
“Yes, you know how I call Daddy, Daddy now?” Sophia asked.
“Yes, but I thought this was a question for me,” she said.
“It is, it’s just well, Lily-Grace wants to know if it’s all right for
her
to call
you
Mommy?”
Destiny blinked the tears from her eyes. “You would like to call me Mommy, Lily-Grace?” She couldn’t believe how lucky she was to be accepted so fast by this little girl. “I would be so honored for you to call me Mommy. I already think of you as my little girl anyway. Can I have a hug?”
Lily-Grace ran around to Destiny and climbed in her lap. “You don’t think my mother would mind do you?” she asked.
“Your mother would have been so happy that you found a lovely new mommy,” Justin said. “It’s what she wanted more than anything.”
“So we’re all good here then,” Sophia said. “Can we go play now?”
“Yes, you may,” Justin said.
Destiny smiled as the girls ran off giggling. Who would have thought that they would become such good friends?
The End
I didn’t write while my oldest children were small because I was busy raising them. Also, there was in Internet then… there weren’t many computers at all and those that -were there were not much more than glorified typewriters. The Internet and high-tech computers make life so much easier and although I still have a couple of children at home, I have much more time to write.
