“Okay, as long as nothing bad happens,”
Adonis agreed reluctantly. It was driving him crazy that she was in
there with two strange human males. He could still hear some
things, but her listening device seemed to be defective or it was
covered.

“It won’t be long, Adonis. I promise you
we’re on our way.”

“I’ll be waiting.”

The line went dead but it didn’t matter
because he knew Hercules would be there as fast as he could. He
listened to what he could hear but he was only catching some words.
He stayed calm because Lucy hadn’t screamed. If they tried to mess
with her, he knew she would scream. He was close enough that he
could be there quickly. He told himself that over and over so he
would believe it. If she screams, but she didn’t scream and he saw
one of the other vehicles pulling up behind him. Relief rushed
through him as he saw Hercules get out and join him in the van.

“How should we go about getting your mate?”
Hercules asked.

Adonis flushed. He’d thought no one had
noticed, but he’d been wrong. “The direct approach?”

“Can we safeguard her if we go in that
way?”

“We’ll know where she is and we’ll do a John
Wayne, both guns blazing, save the girl, and ride off into the
sunset,” Adonis explained.

“You know it’s our goal to take them alive?
Not just because we abhor killing, Origin made us kill enough
people, but because we need to interrogate them. There may still be
hundreds of gods and now even babies out there waiting for us to
find them,” Hercules pointed out. Adonis understood, but he still
liked the thought of guns blazing.

“Why don’t we use knock out gas?”

“Your mate may not appreciate it,” Hercules
said.

“She has little room to talk. We’re
extricating her from a situation she caused by not following
instructions.”

“I think you’ll find that makes no
difference, but that way will make things easier.”

It was agreed upon that they would send in
knock out gas, the best way being under the door. They had a
colorless, odorless, or at least hard to detect, kind that would do
the trick. They would have to hack into the hotel cameras but they
had to find the floor that the room was on first.

“Let’s go,” Hercules ordered. Adonis was
right behind him. He wanted her back sooner rather than later.
Jupiter was on standby and had already hacked into the hotel
security. Once the room was located, which would be no problem with
their sense of smell, Yak would bring up the gas. The canisters
were small and he would attach a hose to them and funnel it under
the door. With the security cameras looping, other guests would be
the only problem.

They entered the lobby and other than the
interested looks the desk clerk, a young female, sent their way, no
one else was around. Since this was a business class hotel, most
guests were gone for the day. There would be exceptions so they
needed to get in and out. They got in the elevator and hit the
second floor. Adonis could scent her in the elevator. The sickly
sweet smell of her fear made him furious and he would get his pound
of flesh. They stopped on the second floor and the door opened,
there was no trace of her outside the elevator. He stepped back in
and there was similar results for the next three floors until they
got to the sixth floor.

“This one,” Adonis confirmed. He could now
scent pain as well as fear and his face became a mask of
outrage.

“Calm, brother,” Hercules whispered. “All
things in good time, first we must save her.”

Adonis knew Hercules had already called for
the cameras to loop and Yak to bring up the gas. Now they followed
the scent trail to find the room she was in. It was room six
hundred and eight so it wasn’t far from the elevator. They could
hear the males talking to each other as they listened at the door.
Yak had been waiting near the lobby and he was there in just
moments. He slid the hose under the door turned on the canister, a
small hiss accompanied the gas as it ran into the room. They would
be unconscious before they knew what hit them. Gods had a higher
tolerance to the gas so they would wait for it to work and just go
in to drag them out.

One of the gods had driven a van to the back
exit. They would each grab somebody and take them down one at a
time. Jupiter would loop all the cameras they needed to pass. The
males were talking and then suddenly it got quiet. Hercules forced
the door, the males were out and so was Lucy. She would have a
headache when she woke and she would be pissed. Adonis smiled as he
lifted her into his arms. He would take her down first since she
was the most important. As soon as he was on the first floor he
notified Hercules who brought down the next guy.

Adonis was lucky as he carried Lucy out, no
one was around. Hercules made it out with no problems and now only
Yak was left. He was in contact with them and as the elevator hit
the second floor, it opened to let someone in. Adonis heard him
tell them there was a medical emergency. That was quick thinking.
He came on down to the first floor and out to the van. The god in
front drove away quick as a wink. Adonis was grateful they’d made
it. He looked down at his quiet mate, she wouldn’t be quiet for
long but she had plenty to keep her busy once she woke since
Hercules said the baby had been recovered.

They headed straight for the airport. Jupiter
was seeing that all their rooms were empty and everything was
brought to the plane. Adonis wasn’t stupid, Lucy would be furious
when she woke halfway to Olympus. He hoped he could calm her and he
couldn’t wait to see the baby. It had occurred to him that she
might be his. If she wasn’t, he would claim her anyway just as he
had already claimed the mother. They made it to the airport and he
carried Lucy onboard and settled her into the bedroom. The males
they had captured were handcuffed to chairs that were in the middle
and out of the way. They would not be mistreated, but no one cared
if they were comfortable either.

Four babies were brought onboard, two carried
by their mothers. The other two brought on by gods. One handed
Adonis a little girl. She was gorgeous and he fell in love the
moment her little hand wrapped around his finger. Her eyes were
closed but her mouth moved as if sucking on something. She was so
precious that nothing mattered but forming a family to protect,
cherish, and love this little person the way she deserved. Anything
she needed would be hers, everything that was needed would be
provided no matter what he needed to do. He moved up to sit by
Hercules, he needed some help to see that
his
family had
what was necessary.

Chapter 5

Mine

The baby, unnamed for now, was in a baby
carrier sleeping. Some forward thinking god had brought all the
things babies and even the mothers would need so Adonis had been
able to feed, change, and bathe his little girl. He’d put something
warm on her even though they had also bought blankets to envelop
the little ones so they would stay warm on the short walk to the
god’s facility. None of those gassed had shown any sign of stirring
but the readings on their bodily functions gave no cause for
concern.

He found himself holding the baby more often
than not and the trusting little soul that snuggled up against him,
made him feel a protectiveness like the one her mother had brought
out in him. He held her with the utmost gentleness realizing she
was fragile and not wanting to cause her even the slightest
discomfort. He was proud of how easily he’d figured out the diaper
changing, bottle feeding, and bathing of a baby. He planned to do
his share when they set up their home. He would make himself
indispensable to Lucy so she would accept him.

He set the babe in her carrier and asked
Hercules to watch her. It was time to check on her mother. He
walked to the back of the plane and entered the bedroom. Lucy was
sprawled on the bed and it appeared she was completely out still.
He felt desire the second his eyes lit on her and it washed over
him in waves. If she was awake, he wondered if she would have
wanted him too. He moved closer to her and leaned in to brush his
lips lightly over hers. That’s when she moved as if searching for
his lips. She must be near waking and they were only halfway home.
He’d hoped to be there before he had to deal with her ire.

She moved restlessly, she would wake soon and
he knew she would want to see the baby right away. Their baby, he
had bonded with her too. He went back out to get their baby and
took her back so when Lucy woke she could see her right away. He
instinctively knew this was what Lucy would expect. He set the baby
down where they could see her from the bed as she slept on. He
stripped naked and crawled in bed with Lucy to take a nap knowing
she would wake him as soon as she woke up herself. He moved up
against her and wrapped himself around her. It wasn’t long and he
was sleeping soundly next to her.

The sound of a baby crying slipped into his
mind and he woke instantly. Lucy was awake and holding their
daughter but he thought the child was hungry. He stood and Lucy’s
eyes slid down his naked form appreciatively. Maybe he could
interest her in going back to bed once the babe was seen to. He put
on his pants and went out to where the formula and diapers were
kept to get whatever the baby might need. He had an armload of
stuff as he headed back to Lucy and their baby.

“I’m glad you were able to find the baby a
bottle,” Lucy said with relief. She reached for the bottle and took
it. The baby sucked on it greedily when the nipple came close
enough. “Thank God that was what she needed.” Lucy started checking
out her surroundings and she grimaced. “Where are we?”

Adonis had hoped to put off this conversation
for a little while. “We are on a plane, Mate.”

“Wait a minute. I never agreed to leave town
and what’s this mate business?”

“Origin will be sending teams to check out
the facility. They will attempt to find those who escaped from it.
You would be a sitting duck, Sweetheart.”

“I think I had a good plan prepared, you
didn’t asked me what I wanted to do.”

He shot her a hard look. “Maybe that’s
because you were suppose to follow instructions and you didn’t.
That caused you to be captured. If we hadn’t liberated you, you’d
be dead or worse by now.”

His words seemed to calm her down. “I’ll
admit I messed up, but I had a plan of my own in place. I want to
go back.”

“You can’t.”

“Excuse me? What the hell do you mean by
no
?”

“I wish I could always tell you yes, mate,
but this is one time I can’t. We’re on the way to Olympus and we’re
past the hallway mark. If you want to return, you’ll have to speak
to Zeus once we arrive.”

“What the hell do you mean by
mate
?”

“You are mine, my soul mate. Don’t you feel
it? We’re tied together in the deepest possible way.”

“No,” she denied shaking her head. “We just
had sex, nothing more.”

Adonis winked at her. “Keep telling yourself
that, Babe.”

“Oooh!” she screeched.

Adonis chuckled. She was so cute when she was
mad. He knew he wasn’t being smart by aggravating her, but he just
couldn’t help it. Lucy busied herself with the baby and tried to
ignore him but he was aware of the glances she shot his way.

“So do you have a name?” he asked.

“A name?” she asked.

“For the baby,” he remarked.

“Oh, I was thinking Paisley.”

“Like the print?”

“It’s spelled the same but it means from a
glade. A glade can be a bright space and she’s my shining light.
She gives my world meaning.”

“That’s beautiful when you know what it
means,” Adonis admitted. “Paisley.” The baby looked at him like she
knew her name already.

“Paisley Rose Ann Devlin, that’s her full
name.”

“A lovely name for a lovely daughter. We’re a
family now. Do you want me to take your last name since I don’t
have one?”

“What? Dammit Adonis I told you we’re nothing
more than fuck buddies.”

Adonis gestured for her to come closer. “Put
the babe down and come over here and say that,” he murmured. He saw
the nervous look on her face. She hesitated. “Afraid,” he taunted
with a chuckle. She was now determined to prove she wasn’t. The
baby was seen to and she was sleeping. Lucy placed her in her
carrier and she hesitantly moved toward Adonis.

He could see she was shaking but trying to
hide it. A feeling of victory and limitless love washed over him.
He could smell her arousal and see her need. He just stood there
waiting for her as she slowly took one step at a time until she was
in his waiting arms. He pulled her up against his heart and he just
held her there for a few moments letting her calm and take her
ease. He pulled back just enough that he could brush his lips
across hers when she looked up at him. He saw something in her
eyes, or maybe he just wanted to, that told him if he was careful,
she would respond.

He went back for more this time tasting her
mouth like it was an all you can eat buffet and he was starving. He
was
starving for her and nothing else. She responded with
the same passion he was showing her. He felt energy zipping through
him and he would bet she felt it too. He skillfully removed the
sleep shirt he had changed her into when he had put her to bed.
He’d left nothing on underneath. It paid to be prepared. He lifted
her, but he didn’t break their kiss and he placed her on the bed
and slid over top of her.

He began to seduce his mate, slowly kissing
caressing and moving steadily down to her full breasts. He captured
a rosy nipple, nipping it and then sucking it to soothe it. He
continued to tug on it harder and harder until she moaned. He moved
to the other side and repeated his action drawing out her pleasure
before moving down her stomach. She writhed beneath him and even
giggled a little.
