Anna gasped. “You’re a clerk!” she exclaimed. “You cannot hope to—”

“He does not appear to be a clerk, Anna,” Zyn said, with infuriating logic.

“Yes, it seems he has been lying to me.”

Brax turned to Zyn. “I will allow you to live, if you take me to the wreckage and help prove the shoes are destroyed.”

Zyn raised an eyebrow. “I will let you live, if afterward, you destroy Soto.”

Chapter Eleven

––––––––

A
nna sat at the food service counter and ate an apple she’d requested from the replicator. Zyn was with his weapons in the training room, and Brax was somewhere above Zyn’s residence in his ship getting it ready.

“Truce,” she murmured.

The front door to her right swung open. “Precious! I have arrived.”

Anna barely held back her squeal of delight. An ally! “Axi,” she exclaimed, and she climbed off her chair. “How are you here?” Anna asked.

Axi was wearing her black suit that looked amazing on her. Anna stayed behind the counter with the effort to hide her attempts at a black suit.

“Zyn has called me,” Axi announced. “Of course.” She waved a hand as she stopped on the other side of the counter. “But he explains little.” Axi frowned.

“Yeah.” Anna agreed with a sigh.

“I was worried for you,” Axi said.

“Aw, thank you. Zyn kind of carried me off. So I really couldn’t say goodbye.”

“Um,” Axi pondered. “This is like my Zyn,” she finally said. Then Axi leaned over the counter with her forearms on the surface and her long dreadlocks swinging to her elbows. “Did you belly rub with him yet?” she asked, with a sparkle in her silver eyes.

Anna immediately felt a blush heat her cheeks. “Well ... we ... um.”

“You did!” Axi exclaimed, as she waved her hand. “I cannot wait to see my Zyn after this.”

“Well, they are going on a mission,” Anna told her.

Axi nodded. “Yes, always going on missions.”

“But this time—” Anna whispered. “—he is going with Brax.”

Axi’s sculptured eyebrow rose. “I don’t know this name.”

“Well, I need to try to get Zyn to take some of my blood, before he goes, so he will be at his best. But he is so stubborn,” Anna said, as she dropped the apple core in the sink, and then she turned to go find Zyn.

“Yes!” Axi exclaimed. “So stubborn.” Anna made it to the end of the counter. “Look at you, precious,” Axi called. “Oh my, my so many curves we have.”

Anna started to walk faster. “I just—” She looked over her shoulder and pointed back a finger at Axi. “Don’t laugh!”

xi watched Anna’s heart-shaped bottom as it wiggled out of the room.

Ah yes, Zyn could not ignore his Anna in that suit
, she thought.

“I will give them a moment before I burst in,” she said to herself.

Then the strangest occurrence happened, a tingling sensation had raised her flesh and she had the oddest sensation of movement close by. Never one to distrust her gut feelings, Axi stepped back along the counter. Her eyes shifted across the room as she tried to sense movement.

Then she saw it ... the slightest trace of an outline. She started to reach for a weapon, but instantly wondered how one attacked or defended against mist.

It was a man forming—she could just make out his structure and he was very large. Not many men could make her feel small, but this brute had upper arms as big as her thighs. His indistinct form shimmered just around the corner of the food service area, and unless he turned, he wouldn’t see her.

Was this Brax, Anna had spoken about? Axi didn’t believe a warrior with such talents could be the simple sounding Brax. Besides wouldn’t a friend walk through the front entrance and not seep in like the creature was doing. She was also very aware of the bounties on Zyn’s head.

Quickly, she looked at the Re-cooler unit next to her. People who used food service areas used those for ice, water, and to dry freeze items. She suspected Zyn used his to store synthetic blood.

What providence, she thought, as she stifled the urge to grab her laser-tap. The broad shoulders on the male appeared denser and the white braids began to look ivory, as Axi slinked forward. She knew she would make noise as she detached the dry-freeze hose, so she had to move quickly.

Snatching the apple core from the sink with a blur of motion, she tossed it across the room and gained the warrior’s attention. He had razor-sharp reflexes, which she admired ... but the warrior had not met the likes of Axi yet.

With his attention turned toward the apple core disturbance, Axi had yanked the freezer hose free from the back of the unit, while she punched the on button. Dry-freeze hissed outward as she pointed it toward the intruder. He never yelped in pain as the surface of his skin grew crusted white. He hadn’t moved, and she thought she had pinned him, so she moved to blast the sides of him, as a growl rumbled from his throat.

Confident she had him trapped, she tossed down the hose, and she strode to face him and his blazing white eyes.

Axi gasped at the sight of those ivory orbs, which made her step back. “Surrender or die!” she exclaimed.

“And what makes you think you could kill me, woman?” His voice had sounded fierce and defiant.

Those same qualities rose inside her, as an aura seemed to ripple from him, toward her. She bounced back on her toes, but that mysterious ripple was faster.

“I think so, because I will!” she exclaimed, as she pulled out her laser-tap.

But her arm had become stuck halfway to her intention, and a crushed feeling pressed onto her body. A moan of distress, she couldn’t hold back, leaped from her throat.

The warrior sneered his full lips at her, as he reached forward to knock the laser-tap from her immobile fingers. “Are you Axi?” he asked, with an arrogant demand, which had her seething.

A small tear of pain leaked from the corner of her eye.

“Damn it, you should be writhing by now,” he muttered, and suddenly the ripple sucked back toward him, and she was released.

She would have fallen to the ground, had he not caught her. “I meant only to slow you so you wouldn’t kill me, not hurt you,” he muttered. “I don’t know my own power sometimes.”

Axi wanted to push away from him and slap him and scratch him, but she was unable to do more than glare at him as he lifted her up into his arms. A feat she thought no male could ever accomplish.

“I’m Brax,” he said, not looking down on her. “There is no furniture in this place,” he muttered.

He took her into Zyn’s retiring chamber, and her mouth finally started to work. “Will kill you,” she mumbled.

He knelt beside the bed and laid her on it. “Can you kill me later, after I help Zyn, and then kill Soto?”

Axi clutched his shoulders and dug her nails in, once, and then her arms flopped to her sides. “Perhaps.”

His hand cupped her cheek, which she found strangely comforting, as his lips lifted in a gruff smile.

“Good, I’ll look forward to it.” His hand retreated. “The effects will wear off over the next hour, however you will feel weak for longer.”

Then he turned to stomp away.

Chapter Twelve

––––––––

Z
yn sensed Anna’s presence coming toward him even before she’d turned the corner into the training room. Ever since she’d slipped on a black fight suit that clung to her every curve, he’d been distracted. Now he couldn’t help but watch her hips as they swayed toward him.

Logically, he knew she was coming after him so that he would take her blood, when all he could think about was sex. With. Her. There was no time, but he wondered what he might have given the cosmos, if he could have traded for some.

He looked from her curvy hips to her full lips, then deep into her blue eyes. He’d give anything.

“Don’t even think about saying no,” she said without preamble. “You know I saved you, and now you owe me.”

His lips lifted slightly ... and he let them. He’d not remind her how many times he’d saved her.

“You did save me and I’m very grateful.”

She stopped before him with a defiant look on her pretty features. “I’ve come to collect,” she announced. Her gaze drifted over his shoulder, then back to him.

He stopped adjusting the weapon he held.

“What will you collect,” he asked. He realized by saying that, he had agreed he owed her.

Her small smile told him so. “I want to give you my—” she started to say, and then she stalled. Her bow shaped upper lip drew flat with resolve. “On second thought,” she said, and she stepped forward so that she pressed into him. Her hand settled on his upper chest and he grew immensely curious as to what she was going to say, because he thought he knew.

“Promise me you will never let those ... those—” Her small hand had waved toward his training arena. “—bot things ever hit you again.” His breath stalled. To say he was surprised was an understatement. “You know you can fight them or whatever, but not that other thing.” She looked uncertain, then whispered, “You know.”

He did know what she meant as he nodded, and then without thinking, he said, “I thought you’d ask me to take your blood.”

He was confused and extremely touched that she cared for his well-being in body and soul.

“I will,” she said, as she stroked his chest. “I plan to ask, after you had promise me about the other thing.”

So she had given up what she thought was a sure thing to extract that vow from him, on something she obviously thought important. Whatever he’d thought about the entire situation did not matter. The weapon he’d had in his hand, out to the side of them, clattered to the table where he’d tossed it, as he pulled Anna to him.

“Zyn?” she questioned, breathlessly.

He took three steps back, and they were on the lift. Even before he rose to the upper level, he had Anna’s mouth beneath his for a heated kiss. Her mouth was surprised, but instantly responsive. He liked that.

The lift stopped, and he swept her into his arms, not breaking his mouth from kissing her lips. By instinct alone, he’d found a soft spot along the wall in the room he painted in. He had to have her, time be damned, and he lowered to one knee to settle her on huge resting cushions he had against the wall. Before he pulled back, he had her fight suit opened and in the first stages of being peeled away from her spectacular breasts.

His fangs tugged to be loose, but he held them back.

“How did you do that?” Anna asked, as she looked dazed from their heated kisses.

She tugged at his fight suit along his upper chest, while he continued to free her soft uplifted breasts. Her nipples were pink with hard, jutting points. Desire distracted him as he grabbed her fingers and showed her how to loosen his fight suit, and then he bent to suck one of her taut nipples into his mouth. Lust heated him and the taste of her was as sweet as any fragrance he’d ever smelled.

“Zyn,” she gasped, while her body arched her breast passionately toward him.

He clasped the small of her back and held her in place as he suckled the tip. Her fingers stroked along his back and across his shoulders and he realized she’d gotten his suit opened to his waist. The long black and red strands of her hair were spread out over the cushions as he arched her body more toward his mouth, while he pulled the inky black material away from her stomach.

He kissed the warm creamy slope of one breast on the way to her other plump one, while her nails curled into his bicep on one side, and her other hand found his erection with a slow gripping rub along the hard length.

A tight growl came from his throat at the feel of her small hand pumping his hardening shaft, while it throbbed from her touch. She’d not gotten his fight suit past his hips, but her gripping caresses through the material still sent searing sensations through him. It drove him to suck her nipple point deeper and harder, until she mewled and squirmed her hips against him.

He lifted his head and he looked at her with her head thrown back and her breasts arched to him. He would taste her one last time, make her come on his mouth, he decided. Then if he didn’t succeed with his mission, he would know what was worth dying for.

He dropped his mouth back to her breasts.

“My blood, Zyn.
Take
it.” Zyn’s mouth was full of her taut nipple and he shook his head. She clutched his head and pressed hard. “Take it, I’m begging you.”

At her passionate pleas, his fangs uncontrollably punched out, and he just managed to jerk his head back enough to keep them from piercing her breast. But one fang had grazed the soft translucent flesh enough so that—

“Blood,” he snarled.

Then before he had a chance to gain control, his fangs had pierced her plump white breast and slid deep.

nna gasped with a choked off scream as her back arched, while pleasure exploded from her breast and rushed between her thighs. A moan of ecstasy wrenched from her lips as her eyes rolled back, and she suddenly climaxed with convulsed shudders. She was drowning and lost in the dark intoxicating pleasure. A distant part of her mind heard Zyn’s low growl of intense satisfaction.

Each time Zyn sucked blood from her breast, the pleasure surged through her and made her hips writhe with lust more powerful, more driving ... more explosive. He sucked again and again forcing the pleasure to nearly pain. The sensations that jolted through her were of intense, unrelenting pleasure.

She was too caught in the blinding, erotic tensions that gripped her with breathtaking force; she was lost in the sensations.

Then suddenly her body jerked, as Zyn’s heavy weight lifted off her, and left her sprawled limply on the cushions. The pleasure ebbed and flowed with ripples through her body, and then her mind began to focus from the ecstasy.

She saw Zyn with blood on his lips as he panted, balanced in a crouch on his four limbs over her. She started to reach her hand toward him, desperately, because she needed more.

Don’t.
Move,” he growled.

She flinched at his intensity and it nearly overrode the lustful alien urges that moved her body beneath his with the motions of trying to seduce him back. The fire between her legs begged for more as she whimpered.
