Epilogue

The bright glow of sunshine
broke through the gap in the suite's drapes and tugged Monica back
into awareness. She rolled onto her back—and flinched from the
protest in her muscles, not to mention her bottom.
Oh my God.
Who had been
driving the truck that hit her last night?

"Merry Christmas." The seductive
deep voice of her fiancé called to her from the other side of the
bed. "I have coffee."

Yup. That always worked. Monica opened her
eyes. Dane sat on the edge of the mattress, holding a steaming cup
of java.

"You do know what I like, don't
you?"

"I try." One corner of his mouth
lifted in a sly smile.

Monica pushed up and propped
her back against the headboard. "Merry Christmas to you too," she
said, accepting the hot mug and taking it straight to her
lips.
Mmm—
Exactly
what she needed. "I still can't believe you arranged all this." She
surveyed the suite, now in the light of day. "And especially how
good you were at it." Her gaze darted in his direction, and she
winked.

"Why, thank you, ma'am." He
grinned. "Like I said last night, I joined several weeks ago, and
since this fantasy was something that meant a lot to you—and to my
surprise, fascinated me as well—I tried to educate
myself."

"You shocked me." She shook her
head. "I can truly say I've never been more surprised."

Dane leaned in closer, reached up,
took the cup from her hand, and set it on the nightstand. Gently,
he brushed the hair away from her face. "So did I do okay? Are you
happy, love?" One dark eyebrow lifted. "Did you get what you wanted
for Christmas?"

Tears welled, and she did her best
to blink them back. Yet one fell free and trailed a warm path down
her cheek. Dane smoothed it away with his thumb. Damn, he knew how
to make her melt.

Monica lifted her hand and covered
his. "Yes. I'm happy," she forced out past the lump in her throat.
"It was everything I imagined and more. And who knows?" She
shrugged. "Maybe we'll play again—maybe not. But I do know
this…you, Dane O'Laughlin, are all I ever want or need for
Christmas."
