“Um, Karriak-Sektannen, I don’t think the sleeping arrangements are going to be a problem. I’ll just sleep on one side and you can sleep on the other.”

He frowned, and for a moment she thought he was going to decline, but then he shrugged instead.

“As long as you aren’t offended by it, then I thank you for your concern. I wasn’t really looking forward to sleeping on the floor.”

Considering how big the guy was, sleeping on the floor would be extremely unpleasant. She glanced up at him and for a weird moment got the impression that he’d grown taller. Surely that wasn’t possible. It must have been a trick of the light, or a strange angle, or…something.

“Can I get you anything? I am uncertain of the bedtime rituals for humans from your time. Do you sleep naked, or should I ask To’h to provide you with some sort of covering?”

“I…um…” She really, really wished he hadn’t mentioned the word “naked.” Her libido kicked into high gear as memories of his hard cock pressing against her stomach rolled through her mind.
Wow, did it just get way hotter in here?
“A sleep shirt or maybe some pajamas would be nice, if you…um…have something like that.”

“To’h?” Karriak-Sektannen asked the computer.

“Of course,” it said with a suspiciously innocent voice. “They’ll be ready in a jiffy.”

Amanda smiled at the computer’s deliberate use of her earlier colloquialism. “Thank you, To’h.”

“You’re welcome,” To’huto said with what seemed to be a “smile” in its voice.

“Your sleepwear will fall into this basket when To’h is finished,” Karriak-Sektannen said, pointing at the space. “I’ll just go check that the rest of the ship is locked down while you get changed and climb into bed.”

“Thank you,” she said as she watched Karriak-Sektannen head out the door. He bumped his head on the top of the doorframe, cursed quietly as he rubbed the sore spot, and then continued on his way.

But as the computer finished creating her clothes and dropped them into the basket, Amanda began to wonder who was playing games. The lace was a deep, rich purple hue and quite fine in its weave, but it was the sheer, silky material and matching G-string that had her groaning.

“Is it not to your liking?” To’h asked, sounding like a confused male.

“I like it just fine,” Amanda said, wondering how the hell to explain “cock tease” to a computer. “They’re actually quite lovely, but…”

“If you like them, then I don’t see what the problem is. They will fit you perfectly—I have your measurements still from your medical scans—and they are typical of human sleepwear from your time period.”

“But they’re…um…designed to…um…seduce.”

“Is that not what you want?” the computer asked, sounding innocent. She had a sneaking suspicion that the dumb act was just that, an act, and she was also beginning to wonder just what she might end up with next if she asked the computer to make something else. Dealing with To’h seemed a little like dealing with the “genie in the bottle.” If that was the case then she better be damned careful what she wished for.

“This will be fine, To’h. Thank you.” In truth she was kind of intrigued to see what they looked like on. She’d never worn sexy lingerie before—she’d always been more of a “cotton undies and sports bra” kind of girl—so it was an indulgence she couldn’t really pass up. “Do I need to ask you to um…avert your eyes, or maybe, I don’t know…stop recording?”

“Technically, no,” the computer said. “In this room I only have voice receptors, and Karriak-Sektannen can turn them off anytime he chooses. I suspect he did that deliberately so that I wouldn’t embarrass him while he was masturbating.”

“Oh.”

Well, ask a silly question…

But, that “genie in the bottle” theory was starting to look pretty solid about now. She was almost certain To’h had been going to say something similarly outrageous earlier when Karriak-Sektannen had turned off the computer’s audio.

She quickly dragged off her flight suit and stripped away her underclothes in record time. She pulled the lingerie on quickly, almost sighing at the sensual feeling the soft material evoked. She was about to climb under the covers when the computer spoke up again.

“Behind the door to your left is what I believe humans call a bathroom. I have synthesized a toothbrush and toothpaste for you.” The items dropped into the same basket as her lingerie had landed, and she moved to gather them quickly. She opened the door the computer had indicated and found a sink, tub, and something that looked a lot like a shower but somehow wasn’t, and a seat that she already knew was the Kobarian equivalent of a toilet. Everything, of course, was extra large.

But it was the floor-to-ceiling mirror that caught her eye. The deep purple color of her lingerie suited her skin perfectly and the fit was flawless. She ruffled her hair, loosening the curls, so that they fell messily to frame her face. Heavens, not only did the lingerie make her look sexy, but it made her feel sexy, also.

Unfortunately, she was so involved in her own introspection she didn’t hear Karriak-Sektannen come back into the bedroom until it was too late.

* * * *

Karriak-Sektannen took his time locking down the ship, hopefully giving Amanda plenty of time to get changed and crawl under the covers. As soon as To’h had agreed to make some sleepwear for Amanda, he knew he was in trouble. There was no way that meddling piece of computer code wasn’t going to put him in an awkward situation. He just had to hope that it didn’t give him the Kobarian equivalent of a heart attack. With his telkobar approaching rapidly he wasn’t sure he’d be able to hide any physical reaction from Amanda. He was already imagining what it might be like to lick the woman all over. Seeing her half-naked might just kill him.

“To’h, is Amanda in bed yet?”

“How would I know?” the computer asked sarcastically. “You don’t have any cameras in that room.”

“True,” he said, relieved a little by the reminder. If he was going to embarrass himself in front of the beautiful human at least To’h wouldn’t be able to record it. Karriak-Sektannen had no doubt it would be the first file the computer “accidentally” showed his older brothers when they got home.

He stepped toward the nearest input console, disengaged the audio interface for the bedroom, and moved toward the door.

“Good night, To’h,” he said, feeling maybe just a little bit smug. At least whatever happened inside his bedroom the computer would not be privy to.

“Good night, sir. Sleep well.”

But as soon as the bedroom door closed behind him he noticed the difference. He barely had time enough to swear before his skull hit the bulkhead. “Damn it, To’h. Turn the oxygen down.”

Realizing he’d turned the audio off, he turned back to the door, only to find it locked. He hammered on the frame, knowing instinctively that the computer would claim to have not heard him.

Damn it. Damn it. Damn it.

“Are you okay?”

And holy fuck!
The woman was gorgeous. He’d entered this room knowing that To’h had likely set him up for embarrassment, but he hadn’t even imagined how beautifully sexy the human might be under the layers of androgynous clothing she’d worn all day. The bright purple color suited her perfectly, the fit totally amazing, the sexy design that somehow hid most of her from view but gave the impression of her being nearly naked sending his blood pressure soaring.

He felt the material of his pants stretch as his cock filled and the rest of his body continued to grow. He dropped to his knees, unwilling to slam his head against the ceiling again.

“Karriak-Sektannen, what is it? What’s wrong?” She glanced around the room, obviously seeking some sort of assistance. “To’h, help him!”

“He can’t hear us…in here,” Karriak-Sektannen said between pants. Holy fuck, his brothers hadn’t explained this part very well. Waves of agony flowed over him as his insides moved and changed and his entire body grew larger. “I’m…okay.” He grimaced as his clothes made a wrenching, tearing sound. “Sort of.”

Amanda moved toward him, the concern in her eyes quite gratifying, even as he worried for her reaction. Very few creatures on Earth did what he was about to do. He was either going to scare the hell out of her, or convince her once and for all that she was dreaming.

“Karriak-Sektannen?” she asked as she moved to stand in front of him. He wanted to touch her, but with his body growing so rapidly he didn’t want to risk hurting her.

“Natural,” he managed to groan out as the clothing tore off his body. What was happening now should have taken weeks, not minutes. When this was over, he was reprogramming that fucking computer.

“This is natural for your species?” she asked, looking completely freaked out. “Does it hurt?”

He shook his head, lying his ass off as he ground his teeth against the stretching, tearing feeling.

“Can I do anything to help? To make it better? To make it easier?” She shook her head, apparently uncertain what she wanted to say.

“Just…please…” He panted hard, trying to get the words out before his telkobar moment was upon him. “Please…
don’tfreakout
.” The words all ran together, the sharp pain stealing his breath as his body did exactly what it was supposed to do and split down the middle.

Chapter Four

Amanda’s mouth opened and closed, but only jumbled words came out. What the fuck was going on?

“You just…He…You…” Surely she was seeing double.

“Amanda, please calm down.”

“But…but…”

“Sweetheart, it’s okay,” the guy on the left said. “It’s just me.” He glanced at the identical copy beside him, nodded at the man’s grin, and added, “Well, just me and, ah, me.”

“So you’re him? I mean, he’s you?” Her gaze swung wildly between them. They seemed identical in every way, except that they were half the size of Karriak-Sektannen.

Hello
to the weird.

Since she’d landed here she’d been overwhelmed by his size. She’d guessed the ship’s bulkhead to be about ten feet up, so that suggested he’d grown to maybe eleven or twelve feet before he’d split in two. No longer did he tower over her. Now he just outnumbered her.

She giggled hysterically.

“That’s…that’s how…” Her words failed as she laughed uproariously, holding her sides as if she might follow his example and split in two. “That’s how you reproduce? By mitosis?”

Well, wasn’t that a kick in the libido? All that sexual attraction she’d imagined earlier just made her laugh harder.
Holy shit.
What sort of a delusional twit was she? She’d known from the get-go that he wasn’t human. Hell, what she’d interpreted as sexual interest had probably been scientific curiosity.

Both Karriak-Sektannens frowned and crossed their arms in annoyance. And, oh wow, she suddenly realized that they were completely naked.
And, um…aroused?

“Why do you laugh?” Karriak-Sektannen number one asked. “Did you find our telkobar amusing?”

Karriak-Sektannen number two narrowed his eyes and looked damned annoyed.

She sobered immediately. “No, I’m sorry. I’m not laughing at you. I just…It’s been a really weird day, and I’m…well, I’m mainly laughing at myself.”

“Why?”

“Because I…” Oh god, this was embarrassing, but she could see that they wouldn’t be satisfied without hearing the truth. “Because I thought you liked me.”

“I…” Karriak-Sektannen glanced at his copy—or would he be considered his other half? She barely managed to squash the impulse to laugh hysterically again. Heavens, nothing about this was funny. “We like you very much.”

“But,” she said, shaking her head and wondering how much he understood about human sexuality, “I thought you
liked me
liked me.”

Both men frowned at her high school version of an explanation.

“I mean”—she swallowed hard—“I thought you were attracted to me.” Both of them raised an eyebrow and waited for more.
Fuck
. “I misread your kindness and, um, thought, um…but you don’t, ah, do that so I was—”

“We don’t do what?” the Karriak-Sektannen on the left asked with just the slightest hint of amusement.

“That’s not how you, ah, procreate.” Fuck, where was a hole to hide in when she needed one?

“What do you know of Kobarian procreation?” the Karriak-Sektannen on the right asked.

It was her turn to raise an eyebrow. Hadn’t she just witnessed their form of procreation? It was damn disappointing that such beautiful masculinity would be wasted on asexual reproduction, but well, it certainly described her current love life. Her gaze dropped again to their groins all on its own. Amanda didn’t even realize she was doing it until both men wiggled their hips and their deliciously hard cocks waved hello.
Fuck
.

“Perhaps,” Karriak-Sektannen said as he turned to the other Karriak-Sektannen, “the little human would like a biology lesson.”

The one on the left grinned. “I think you might be right, brother.”

She could barely breathe as they both stepped closer, one standing behind, the other in front. Warm hands rested on her hips, the thumbs making small circles on her skin. Both men were about her height now, so she was gazing directly into Karriak-Sektannen’s eyes. He grinned wickedly and then leaned forward to press a soft kiss to her lips. She gasped, shivering slightly as the man behind her spoke quietly, his warm breath caressing her ear.
