“I think he's referring to feeling like you didn't accomplish anything,” Brigid said.
“I stopped Charun. A lot of people are safe because of that,” Grant told them.
Kane nodded. “We've bought some more time for mankind to crawl up from the wreckage.”
Grant smiled. “Isn't that what we've been doing since we first blew out of Cobaltville all those years ago?”
“That goes without debate,” Brigid said as she took the bottle and downed a swig. “Now come on back to the feast.”
She handed the bottle off to Kane.
“What's the rush?” Grant asked the archivist.
“Because sooner or later, your God-punch Tuesday is going to roll around again. And given our recent string of opponentsâ¦I have a feeling it'll come much sooner.”
“Let's celebrate some life before that,” Kane added.
Grant nodded.
The three soul friends returned to the great hall.
Eat. Drink. Be merry. Someday they would all pass from this Earth, but until then, freedom would be protected and fought for, and life would be lived.
