Carlson cautiously probed deeper for as much as the director would give. “Who will be the leader, of our New World Order sir?”

Thompson eyed the former CIA agent, trying to decide how much information he wanted to divulge. “For the most part it will be a council of 13 members. Suffice to say if there is a hierarchy our President will be very close to the top.”

Carlson expected no less from the leader of the most powerful country in the world. Unfortunately that leader was not concerned with the constitution or the bill of rights. All he and his fellow Illuminati council members were concerned with was total world domination. In their eyes every civilized place on the planet would conform or they would face the consequences.

It was not a typical day for Agent Nathan Turner. Normally Nathan carried himself with a demeanor some might consider dark, even hateful. Whenever asked Nathan would some up his expression as determination, however today Nathan’s expression was much more jovial. Nathan smiled and greeted most along the way stopping by the forensics lab before going to his office. Nathan and Grey shared an office; the Assistant Director gave them a fairly large room due to Nathan’s success and the number of cases they ran through. As Nathan entered he noticed Grey was not in, not an uncommon experience. Because of his aggressiveness with those he tracked, Nathan was often left with the paperwork end, he didn’t mind though. As Nathan sat down he went through his daily routine of taking off his jacket, grabbing a water from the small fridge next to his desk and checking his e-mail. Nothing of particular interest mostly just some congratulations on his new catch. Nathan then moved from his agency account to his personal account. Inbox 33 3new 30saved.

“Thank god for the no spam law.” Nathan said to himself almost daily.

Almost since the inception of the internet retailers have been sending large amounts of unwanted ads through e-mail. Several attempts were made to cut spam, spam blockers and even a government tax was established both of which weren’t very effective. In 2026 a massive systems failure occurred that basically shut down parts of the internet for 14 hours due primarily to the overstock in user e-mail accounts. Recently in July 2030 congress passed a no spam law that many felt was long overdue.

Nathan read his messages, one being from Kayla sent just 10 minutes prior.

To: Papi

From: Bad gurl

CC: Kisses

I love you yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever.

                                               From: You’re Fiancé

Nathan smiled then clicked on the save box, which now read 31.

Nathan continued on with his normal routine typing up the final report on the Millsap case when he heard a high-pitched bell sound from his computer telling him he had mail.

It happened so quickly the beginning of world change, a typical day for Agent Nathan Turner working on his report for the most recent child killer case when he received a priority one email.

Nathan felt dizzy; he felt the heat rising, the walls closing in around him, his heart beating, and the sweat coming through his shirt. He tapped his phone earpiece tried to speak but his throat was too dry, he swallowed and tried again. “Call Anthony.”

After a moment Anthony answered. “Nate what’s up?”

Nathan swallowed the lump in his throat then asked. “Have you checked your e-mail?”

Anthony was concerned at his friend’s tone. “No why?”

For Nathan everything was surreal as if in slow motion. “It’s happening”

Anthony now concerned asked in a somber tone. “What’s happening?”

“Armageddon, the New World Order.”

They both stopped to let the words linger in the air. Then Anthony, always calm and collected asked. “Why do you say that?” Nathan elaborated on what the e-mail meant. “This is…I…You have to check your e-mail, they are declaring a federal emergency and having all citizens register.”

Anthony listened closely to his friend. “Ant, the camps I told you existed; they’re going to send people there. This is it; this is the moment I hoped would never come…. Ant I…feel it.”

Anthony tried to take in what Nathan was saying. After a long pause Anthony asked. “Ok…so what do you plan to do?”

Nathan knew what he had to do, he had known for a long time. Nathan had inadvertently been planning for this moment his whole life. “Run, get supplies, get safe…after that…pray.”

Anthony was a very rational man and so he had to see this e-mail and think before doing anything drastic. “When are you leaving?”

Nathan didn’t have to think long. “As soon as possible, the e-mail said all Agents are to meet with their supervisors at 6 tonight, its 8:32 now, I’ve got some things to do to include telling Kayla. I’ll be on the road by 3:00.”

Anthony stated what he thought the plan was. “Home?” Nathan answered “For a short time, then to the spot.”

Anthony thought to himself then spoke his intentions. “I need to check things out on my own, call me before you leave.”

Nathan knew that his friend would take a more cautious approach, specifically because Anthony just didn’t know what Nathan did. Anthony had listened to the findings of his friend over the years and had decided long ago that he would let fate find him, not the other way around but he still gave his friends words grate credence.

Nathan nodded to himself. “Ok I’ll call you in a few hours.”

“NATHAN!” Anthony wanted to catch Nathan before he hung up.

“Yea Ant.”

Anthony continued as cautiously as possible. “Did, did you “see” this Nate?” Nathan took a very deep breath and solemnly replied. “Yes…I did.” Anthony paused for a moment then addressed his friend. “Ok call me before you leave.” Nathan replied. “I will.”

Anthony was concerned for his friend. “Nate, be careful.”

“You too brother.” With that Nathan hung up the phone. Stood up, put his coat on and walked out. On the way another agent stopped him. “Hey Turner, you see that e-mail?”

Nathan lied. “What e-mail?” The Agent continued. “You need to see for yourself, something’s going down.” Nathan nodded. “I’ll check it out, thanks.”

Nathan headed straight for the parking garage. He jumped in his 2036 red and black charger and sped off. As soon as Nathan hit the road he called his brother.

Darion picked up…eventually. “Um, hello.”

Nathan had no time for formalities. “Where are you?” Nathan shifted gears while subconsciously checking his mirrors for tails. “DARION!”

Darion groggily responded. “Nate.” Nathan again was very straightforward. “Yes, where are you?”

Darion found it interesting that his stubborn brother decided to break their brotherly quarrel.

“Oh, I guess you’re talking to me now huh, ya know you are the…”

Nathan cut him off as he heard the horn of another driver he also cut off. “Shut up and listen Darion…its time.”

Darion wasn’t fully awake; he was still groggy and confused. “Time for what? I know it’s too early to be up. We were in the quarter last night, and let me tell you….”

Knowing that key words would trigger the NSA’s wire tapping protocol Nathan used code words he and his brother agreed on should the need arise. Nathan continued “The watchers have made their move Darion, its time.”

Darion shot up from his bead, sleep all but gone. “Are you, what …what?”

Nathan anxiously tapped his shifter at a red light. “I can’t explain now, just trust me bro, its time.”

Darion knew this time would come, his brother taught him, showed him so that he would be prepared. Now that he was hearing the words he realized how not prepared he was. But Darion trusted in his brother and so he was ready to do his part.

Darion calmed himself then asked. “What do you want me to do?”

Nathan was a man who tried to think as far ahead as possible, he would constantly play what if scenarios out in his head always preparing for the worst possible outcome. Nathan had this scenario planned out for many years, he hoped, prayed he wouldn’t have to play it out, none the less, he was ready. Nathan addressed his brother again. “Where are you?”

Darion was sitting on the edge of his bed holding his forehead, feeling a bit dizzy from the news he was receiving. “Home.”

Nathan ran a red light narrowly missing a taxi that let Nathan know his displeasure by laying on the horn.

Darion heard. “Nate are you alright?”

Nathan responded. “I’m fine, listen to me I need you to pick up some items we’re going to need. Get ready to write.”

“Hold on a minute.” Darion said as he went in search for some writing materials. After a moment he answered. “Alright, go ahead.”

Nathan ran through his brain thinking as quickly as possible. “First aid kits, 20 or so, 4 man tents camouflage, get at least 6 but more if you can. Get all terrain tires for your Jeep as well as spare gas cans and a couple of spare energy cells. Get 3 solar cell chargers. Go to the Army Navy store and get clothes, pants, shirts, boots get as much as you can. Make sure you get different sizes and make sure there either black, green or camouflage. Get the large military water jugs, as well as a few compasses, binoculars and night vision goggles.”

Darions mind and hand was trying to keep up with his brother’s list.

“Also get 4 GPS units with solar power cells, get a couple sets of walkie talkies, an overhead bin and a tow rack for your Jeep.”

As his brother paused Darion raised his eyebrows. “Nate, how am I….”

Nathan interrupted again anticipating the statement. “There will be 15,000.00 in your account in 20 minutes that should be enough.”

As Darion was checking the list he asked. “OK what about mom and Jean?”

Jean LaFleur was Nathan and Darions stepfather. Their mother Julie married Jean after their father died 18 years ago. The only thing Nathan and Darion liked about Jean was the sister he and their mother gave them, they both adored and watched over her like the big brothers they were. At 34, 22 and 17 the three were split by more than a few years.

“Don’t tell them anything.” Nathan said knowing how his parents were, not uneducated by any means just very stubborn and stuck in their ways. “Don’t tell them anything. I’ll be there tomorrow morning, I’ll explain as much as I can when I get there.”

Afraid that he might have to explain to his parents Darion took a sigh of relief. “One more thing, Jason’s here.”

Nathan had met Jason before, he thought he had a little growing up to do but thought he was an honest kid.“You can take him with you but say nothing.”

“Alright, what about you bro?” Darion asked as he was getting dressed.

Nathan responded. “I’ve got some things I have to take care of. Remember tell no one till I get there. Got it?” Darion responded. “Yeah, got it.”

Nathan pulled into the bank parking lot to transfer the money to Darion’s account; he tried to sound as calm and confident as he could for his little brother. “Take care Darion, nobody is more prepared for this than we are. I’ll see you soon, bye.”

Darion hung up the phone, said a quick prayer then turned to Jason who was asleep on the couch.

“JT, wake up.” Jason groaned then turned to his friend. “What?”

Darion took a deep breath. “We’ve got work to do.”

Nathan pulled into the car dealership, got out and approached the
first salesperson he had seen. The sales associate smiled. “Good morning sir, how may I help you?”

Nathan sharply replied. “I want to trade this car in.”

The salesman was trying to hide his excitement over a possible sale. “Sure sir I can help you with that, what are you in the market for.”

Nathan tried to stay as composed as possible while still proceeding as expediently as he could. “I want the biggest SUV you have, hybrid gas with electric charged solar panels…in black if you have it.”

The sales associate began his sales strategy. “Well sir I’m sure I can help you, I’ve got this nice….”
