Lilith and Declan began seeing each other fairly regular. They had talked about how best not to arouse any suspicion in the department so she didn’t stop by or call the main number. Just his cell if she needed to. Though his days were busy he spent his nights with her. Whether at his place or hers they became closer than he imagined. She was passionate and tender unlike what he’d first experienced.

He found out that Lilith had graduated with a Bachelors in Business Management and a minor in marketing. She worked for a local consulting firm but would be contracted out so sometimes she traveled to other locations. She was paid highly for her services. Lilith was beyond brilliant. Her intellect alone would turn him on. They had movie nights and board game nights. She would frequently turn their board games into sexual escapades. He didn’t mind. Declan learned about her childhood, her desires, her wants and needs. He found himself deeply attached to her.

In turn Declan divulged his life story to Lilith. She was so intent on listening to him and she was never judgmental. He had told her about his life growing up without his father much like her own. Both of them were raised by single mothers. Unfortunately his mother had passed away. His mother’s passing wasn’t something he had actually dealt with in a long time so when he began speaking about it, he broke down.

Lilith was there for him and comforted him yet still left him feeling like a man. She treated him in such a way that some nights when he came home she’d be there waiting with a warm dinner plate, and a hot bath waiting for him. Some nights she’d feed him fruit and massage his body when he came home after drug raids.

Sometimes he still felt like Lilith was hiding something from him. There were certain places she didn’t want to go, certain rooms he couldn’t enter in her house. Even though she had a key to his house, he didn’t have one to hers. He choked it up to growing pains. She was so used to being in control he assumed it may just take her a little longer to let go. And he was okay with that.

Almost seven months into their relationship the case which had brought them together kept coming back to his team. The case was on trial already and there were all kinds of technicalities that may allow Donavan Goode to get off so they were working overtime to secure the evidence and make sure every step was followed accordingly in the case. This led to more canceled dates than he was okay with but still, Lilith was so calm about it. He knew he loved her but hoped she wouldn’t leave him now, as the late hours of an agent would generally drive a woman away.

Duke brought in a box of DVDs and set it on Declan’s desk making a loud noise. “Chief Durden wants you to review these ASAP. Says he trusts your eyes. Wants you to double check and make sure we didn’t miss anything. Apparently the district attorney is losing the jury and he needs some ammo against Donavan. They want every inch of the evidence combed through again.”

“Oh c’mon! You gotta be kidding me! Now? Right now?” Agent Weber grunted in frustration. “You know how many hours is on these DVDs?!”

“Your job buddy!” Duke laughed walking out the office door.

Explaining this to Lilith wasn’t going to be easy. He had a night planned for them. “Shit...this is going to take forever. This is going to take damn near all night!”

“Better get on it!” Duke yelled out loud.

Declan picked up his phone. Lilith was going to be angry. Canceling on her became an almost regular ordeal over these past six months what with this case but she was always so understanding about it. Surely she’d had enough. Waiting for her to answer he thought about her haughty attitude and how unlikely he felt it was to be so in love with her. But he was.

“Hello,” Lilith answered.

“Lilith,” Declan said intimately.

“Hey Weber,” Lilith teased.

“How’s it going babe?” Smiling at her tease. He liked it when she called him by his last name.

“Good I’m just getting my nails and feet done, then I’ll head home to get ready. 8 p.m. right?” she asked, excited for the evening. Even though they weren’t going out it’d been a few days since she'd seen him. In the weirdest way for her she missed him.

Closing his eyes he searched his mind for the words. “About that...I just got slammed with evidence I have to review again. Check for any missing links in the case and what not. See if we missed anything. It’s going to be a late night Lilith. I’m sorry and I swear I will make this up to you. I promise.”

“Well, I understand,” she said trying not to sound disappointed. “I guess we’ll reschedule?” she asked.

He sighed. Never before had he wanted to spend every day with a woman until he met her. Disappointing her was the last thing he wanted to do. “Sure thing..Lilith, I’m really sorry.” Declan’s apology was genuine.

“Don’t worry about it.” She hung up quickly. Tears formed in her eyes and she blinked them away. Somewhere between him kicking down the door of her then boyfriend’s apartment to now she fell for him when she should have stayed away. Lilith fought her emotions as best as she could. Who could have a relationship with a cop anyway? He probably was just getting a thrill off being with a suspect she told herself. That was her best and worst habit, telling herself what she needed to get by.

A loud click was all he heard. “Damnit!” He slammed the phone down. Declan sat back in his chair thinking about her. He decided to watch what he could and he would pick up her favorite flowers and chocolate and beg her forgiveness. He popped the disc into the DVD drive of his computer and started watching surveillance on Donavan Goode’s apartment.

Declan was face down asleep on his desk when she walked in. The station room was empty as she walked in carrying a small satchel.

Lilith walked in with a thigh high red coat and only lingerie adorning her body. Sitting on the edge of the desk she crossed her legs. Lilith ran her fingers through his hair. Just the sight of his broad body turned her on. She nudged his inner thigh with her red pumps. He stirred. Kicking off one of her heels she ran her bare foot over his inner thigh running up towards his groin. He jumped up and she smirked. Blinking repetitively, obviously assessing the situation Lilith kicked off her other heel and stood up.

“Hey...babe. What time is it?” Declan asked. Clearly he’d fallen asleep reviewing the DVD surveillance as it was still playing on his computer. Watching Donavan was boring for the most part except for watching him fuck what he assumed to be a new escort every week. He took a second to look at Lilith. “Whoa...”

“I’m getting tired of you canceling on me,” Lilith spoke sadly.

Declan felt his cock flood with life upon looking at Lilith. Seductive and lustfully overwhelming. “I know babe it’s just-”

Interrupting nonchalantly Lilith continued. “And so, since I know your job is very demanding I figure why don’t I make it a little easier on you.” Lilith took off her coat and stood there in a red lace bra and red lace thongs. Declan stood up and she closed in on him. His hands cupped her face and he kissed her with such power she stumbled. His masculinity always made her feel soft and feminine, something she didn’t feel with most men.

Unbelievably aroused and grateful that Lilith even came down to the station knowing how risky it’d be, Declan turned Lilith around quickly and roughly handled her body. His lips trailed the back of her neck with soft strands of her hair brown hair caressing his face. Pushing her down on the desk the box of DVDs fell over with some paperwork but he didn’t care. Declan took his pants off quickly and pulled her thongs aside. In a moment he shoved his stiff cock into her.

Pushing her forward so hard that the desk moved he grabbed her hair with one hand and rested his hand on her hip. Her shallow breathe and deep moans enthralled him as he fucked her from behind. Declan delighted in this moment. Where most women would stay home and pout she came to him. Declan’s thrusts sped up and the sounds of their skin slapping together filled his office.

Lilith’s hands held onto the opposite side of the desk and for a moment his eyes drifted off to the DVD playing still. Donavan fucking one of his escorts played out on his computer. As he was about to look away he noticed the woman was bent over being fucked from behind just like he was fucking Lilith. A mark on the escort's back seemed familiar.

Lilith’s scream brought him back to reality as he pummeled his cock into her. Letting her hair go he placed his hands on her ass spreading her open and deepening his pumps. The same mark on the escort in the footage was on Lilith’s back. And in that moment his intuition imploded.

Lilith pushed her ass back against him as he fucked her furiously. She was seconds away from coming. Declan pulled her body against his so her back met his chest while lifting her right leg to rest on the desk. Almost instantly he hit her g-spot forcing her climax to explode within her. She collapsed on the desk and shook violently.

Declan was amazing. Sexually incomparable but even more so romantically incomparable. She loved him and found herself willing to do what it would take to be with this man. Declan came inside her and collapsed on her back. He kissed the birthmark on her back and silently knew. He decided to relish in this moment with her, as it may be their last together.

“I love you Declan,” Lilith murmured sweetly.

“And I love you baby,” Declan whispered in her ear as he held her tight.

A call sent her morning into a fritz. Donavan Goode began talking, implicating her in his dealings. One of the prosecution’s assistants was her inside rat and had informed her they were building circumstantial evidence on her and were likely to issue a warrant for her arrest. It was time to cut her losses and get out of town. The idea of leaving Declan behind had her crying since she had gotten off the phone. She couldn’t tell him. How would she explain it? She’d spent her life running. No matter what she felt this would be no different. Her heart was heavy but the last thing she needed was life in prison.

With her Louis Vuitton black backpack and matching suitcase and duffle bag in each arm she headed towards the door. Panic set in and she fought it tooth and nail. If she could get in the car and drive to her destination point she’d be fine. Thoughts of Declan crossed her mind but she shook her mind free of him. When Lilith went to open the door, the knob turned and flew open pushing her backwards.

“Y-You...it-where a-ar-are you g-going?” Declan stuttered, still unable to believe what he saw in the evidence room at the station. That is until he set his eyes on the luggage and Lilith’s panicked look sprawled on her face.

“Shit!” Lilith scoffed. “Declan. Listen I have to-I have a family emergency-”

“Don’t you lie to me!!! You were leaving! It was you...I don’t understand.” He pushed her back into the home and slammed the door shut blocking her exit.

“And what are you going to do? You thought it was a whore... different woman every week. Never knew there was a girlfriend. I didn’t say a word in the interrogation room. I never gave you an inkling it was me. Great police work I have to tell you. Epic fail. Really.” Lilith’s tone was hard and arrogant.

“I’m in love with you,” Declan said.

“And I’m in love with you,” Lilith replied feeling weak.

“You lied to me.” He scowled.

“Yeah I did. I told you I wouldn’t let myself get hurt again. That I’d always look out for number one, and that was me.” Her heart was heavy and Lilith’s mind was racing.

“So...what were you doing with me?” Declan couldn’t make sense of it. He didn’t understand why Lilith would even undertake the relationship with him as it would only cause him to pay more attention to her than less.

“The first time, that was a fluke right? But...every time after Declan-shit, I don’t have time for this right now. I have to get out of here.” Lilith tried to pass him but the blank expressionless look on his face stopped her. He was in uniform and in those dreaded steel toe boots she hated.

“Are you here to arrest me?”

Declan stared into her eyes, attempting to decide his next move. “Lilith.”

“Do it then. Where’s your backup huh?” She dropped her bags pushing past him and swung open the door. No one outside. Turning around he was already facing her. Pressing her hands along his chest she felt no vest. “Is that what you came here to do?”

“I just reviewed the tapes...and I saw it. Your birthmark. Same as on all the hookers in the video surveillance. I was the only one who saw.” Declan’s nerves were shot.

Lilith rested her back against the door. “What do you want from me Declan? You know what I am, and you know who I am.”

He was burning with anger. Sure he knew that Lilith had some less than ladylike tendencies, and sure she had a little more knowledge about manipulation than a woman ought to but this was not what he expected. Did she even care about him or was she using him the entire time? Fury scorched Declan’s heart. “I have two choices. Take you in or let you go. And honestly-”

“You mean three choices?” Declan’s brow furrowed in her response. “You can come with me,” Lilith said hopefully. Rare indeed that she’d show such vulnerability but if she was being honest she wanted to run away with Declan.
