"So
good, Aspen," he growled before flicking her clit with his tongue over and
over.

Her
wicked little mouth bobbed around his shaft, her little tongue teasing the head
of cock.

She moaned around him when he
nibbled on her clit then speared her with his tongue.

Xavier
began to pound into him and his grip on his hips tightened signaling his
release was near.

Aspen's hips jerked
and she cried out around his cock, coming all over his face.

He loved how responsive she was.

Then her mouth tightened, Xavier hit that spot
inside him and Skylar came down Aspen's throat.

He felt Xavier bury
himself
as deep as
possible, still, then spill his seed deep inside of him.

Skylar
forced himself to remain on all fours while Xavier pulled out, then he rolled
carefully to the side.

Xavier arranged
Aspen so that she lay between them and she automatically snuggled to his side
her head resting on his chest.

Xavier
took residence on her other side, curving his body around hers.

Skylar sighed in contentment.

"I
love you both so much.

I'm glad you
didn't give up trying to find me."

Skylar
kissed Aspen's lips taking gentle forays into her mouth.

How could he have ever been so lucky as to
gain not one, but two mates?

"I
love you too, sweetheart."

Aspen
turned from his side and snuggled into Xavier.

She tilted her face toward his.

Xavier smiled.

"Want
something, baby?"

Xavier's
hands smoothed up her flank and cupped a breast.

She gasped and arched towards his touch.

"I
want a kiss," she hissed out between her teeth.

Xavier
laughed and dipped his head taking her lips in a lazy, sensuous kiss.

Skylar's cock hardened all over again at the
sight of his mates loving one another.

He released her lips slowly, nibbling on her bottom lip.

"I
love you too, baby."

"Now,
you two," she said her eyes sparkling with a mix of love and lust.

She wanted to see them kiss.

Skylar
propped himself on his elbow and Xavier did the same.

"I love you, Sky."

Skylar
reached out and pulled Xavier to him, and just when he would have kissed him
senseless he stopped.

"I love you,
too."

Skylar
slanted his mouth over Xavier's and plunged his tongue into his mouth, and
Xavier gave as
good
as he got.

They settled back amongst the pillows and
Skylar traced patterns over Aspen's belly.

She sighed and something moved under his hand.

"What...?"

Xavier
was alert and sitting beside Aspen, his eyes taking in everything.

"What's wrong?

Is it the baby?

Are you-?"

Aspen
placed her finger over Xavier's mouth.

"I'm fine and so is the baby.

I've been waiting for him to make himself known to you two."

"What
do you mean?"

Aspen
smiled and took Xavier's hand to place on her belly.

"He's moving now."

Skylar
watched Xavier's brown eyes light up when a tiny movement found his hand.

He leaned down and kissed her stomach.

Skylar
was disturbed to find Aspen crying.

He
cupped her cheek and wiped her tears with his thumb.

"Baby,
what's wrong?"

"I'm
so happy," she sobbed.

Xavier
laughed and lay back pulling her into his arms.

Skylar scooted in as close as he could and placed a small kiss on her
cheek.

"We
are too, sweetheart.

We are too.”

Epilogue

Wesley
settled on the couch in Essence's house still cradling Essence in his
arms.

It'd only been a few moments since
she'd passed out, but he and his bear were beside themselves with worry.

Her lashes fluttered and hazel eyes locked
onto his face.

She whimpered and his gut
clenched.

Her whole body tensed and the
scent of her fear surrounded him.

God,
what the fuck had happened to his mate?

"Calm
down, Essence, he won't hurt you."

Wesley
looked up to find Zackary standing with Gunner in the doorway of the house.

"Mama?"

"She's
okay, buddy," Zackary replied to the little boy.

He looked up at his uncle then nodded.

"Why don't you go play while Wesley
takes care of your mom?"

Gunner
nodded, ran to his mom and gave her a hug before running down the hallway.

"Let
me go." Essence whispered.

Wesley
tightened his hold on her, the thought of letting her go distressing to him and
his bear.

He needed to protect her.

Zackary left the house and he knew it was a
sign of trust.

"No."

Essence
stilled and looked at him, her hazel eyes spitting fire.

He had to admit even if she wasn't showering
him with kisses, he enjoyed her spirit more than her fear.

She should never fear him.

Wesley
cupped her face.

"I won't hurt
you."

She
pulled her face away from his hand and gave him a look.

I don't
believe you
.

She may not have said
it, but Wesley got the idea.

It would
seem he had the work cut out for him to gain this one.

But shouldn't she be feeling the mating pull
too?

"Please,
let me up."

"I'll
let you up if you tell me one thing."

She
tried to sit up, but Wesley tightened his grip on her.

Her fear inched up, but the fire remained in
her eyes.

"W...what
do you want to know?"

"Don't
you feel it?

Feel the pull?"

She
shook her head, but her eyes told him everything he needed to know.

He released her and she scrambled from his
lap.

"Now
leave," she said pointing to the door.

He
got up and walked slowly toward her until her back hit the wall.

He set his nose along her neck and breathed
deep.

Her scent enveloped him and his
cock hardened instantly.

And then he
smiled, because despite her denial, the soft, warm scent of her arousal was
there.

God, he wanted to take her right
here, right now against this wall.

But
he couldn't, not while she still looked at him as though any second he would
hurt her.

"You're
mine, Essence, and I'm never giving up."

She gasped and he swallowed it as he took her mouth.

She
tensed momentarily then sank against him, her mouth opening to his
onslaught.

All too soon he was pulling
away, lest he
lose
control and really take her against
the wall.

Wesley released her and turned
to walk away.

He looked back to find her
slide down the wall her fingers touching her lips.

Zackary
stood on the porch and he nodded as Wesley walked through the door.

"It
won't be easy."

Wesley
nodded.

"Nothing worth keeping ever
is."

And Essence is definitely worth keeping
, he thought.

State of Resistance

The Chronicles of JJ, Book 2

Their
world changed forever when the Changeling Alpha and the Vampire Prince mated,
but for Everlastings change comes slowly and at a price…

Jessica
“JJ” Johnson spent half her time resisting her sexy new partner and the other
half fighting the resistance to change.

When the resistance finally claims the lives of the Changeling Alpha and
the Vampire Prince, she and those in her department of the Agency of
Everlasting Matters are shocked by the secret they kept.

With someone new to protect and a resistance
to stop, JJ sure doesn’t need her attraction to Alex, her wolf changeling
partner, to get in the way.

But strange
things are starting to happen to her--even for a darkling--that she can’t
explain.

Alex
felt the loss of his Alpha deep in his soul and his wolf cries out for
vengeance.

But one sexy-as-sin darkling
partner distracts him to no end.

Now he
must bring justice to his alpha and convince JJ that she belongs to him—even if
his wolf isn’t quite sure.

Then the game
changes…things are not what they seem.

Excerpt!

The beat of the music reverberated in
her ears as her hips picked up its tantalizing rhythm.

The smell of human sweat mixed with the
overpowering scent of cologne, perfume and body spray surrounded her as she
looked around the crowded night club.

The dance floor was crowded, the blue and pink spotlights glancing off
of the mass of bodies swaying to the captivating beat.

Her nostrils filtered each scent, and a smile
curved her lips.

Her target was here,
she could sense him.

She could smell him
and it was only a matter of time before she saw him.

Her old partner who had been reassigned
nodded in her direction.

Daniel had been
her partner for a couple of centuries, but recent changes in the way things
worked had separated them.

She trusted
him like a brother, a very sexy and utterly delicious brother.

Standing six foot three inches with
delectable muscles for days and green eyes you could stare into for hours.

His jet black hair framed his chiseled facial
features.

Yeah he was good looking, most
vampires were, but he didn’t have that special something Jessica “JJ” Johnson
felt when she met a potential lover, that zing that caused her breath to catch,
her heart rate to speed up and her girly parts to go all tingly.

Good old fashioned lust.

His unique woodsy scent invaded her
nostrils, right before his body heat bathed her back as he placed his hands on
her hips and molded her to his frame.

That zing traveled through her like a lightning bolt bent on destruction.

Only years and years of acting unaffected
kept her from melting into a pool of goo at his feet.

Only her pride kept her from climbing up his
six foot two delicious frame of muscle and having her wicked way with the
impressive bulge that now pressed against her denim clad backside.

Her mouth watered at the idea of taking his
dick into her mouth and tasting the evidence of his arousal.

His breath tickled her ear as he whispered,
“Subject is on the move taking the rear entrance.

Are you ready to have a little fun, JJ?”

She turned into his embrace and pulled
his face down to hers, almost drowning in his bright blue eyes trimmed with
dark lashes.

His dark brown hair fell in
a shaggy mess on his head, making it look like he just took a tumble between
the sheets.

His full lips just begged to
be kissed, licked, and nibbled.

He
smiled his wolfish smile, his sharp canines inciting lust that she never would
have thought she would feel for one of his kind.

She clasped his hair into her fist and smiled
seductively up at him letting her own small fangs show before responding
breathlessly, “Alex, I think the question is are you ready for a little
fun?”

He chuckled in her ear before
taking her by the hand and leading her through the sea of humanity.

JJ nodded at the small caramel skinned
lynx changeling sitting at the bar watching their progress toward the rear
exit, her golden brown eyes nearly glowing in the darkened club as she accepted
Daniel’s hand.

While she had yet to get to
know her, Daniel seemed to like Wren well enough and Alex, her previous partner
had never spoken badly of her.

JJ
thought it was time for a little girl’s night out.

Their species weren’t at war
anymore.

A stupid war if you asked
JJ.

They were all immortal or close to
it¸ anyways.

Someone had decided that to
call themselves immortal was technically incorrect, since they were able to
die, but they did enjoy a very long lifespan-thus they considered themselves,
Everlasting.

Whatever.

There had been a state of unrest between the
different species for as long as JJ had been alive.

The vampires and darklings had always seemed
to get along well while they didn’t play so well with changelings and witches
and vice versa.

JJ didn’t understand
it.

She was never really off put with
the differences between their species or factions.

She just did her job and played hard when she
was off.

It wasn’t her style to get all
political.

The status quo had changed after a
vampire fell in love with a changeling.

JJ was sure that it had happened before, what with the whole Romeo and
Juliet thing a sure recipe for romance, but never had two important people in
the immortal realm fallen in love and defied everyone just to be together.

It was so sweet that it gagged JJ and
although she would never let anyone know, made her jealous and wish for someone
to love her enough to say, “Fuck you world this is my woman and we are going to
be together no matter what you think.

By
the way, bitches, things are gonna change around here.”

That’s what the vamp prince did when he fell
in love with the changeling princess, how cliché.

This brings us back to the present after
around two hundred years of policy changes, the Darkling and Vampire Alliance
and the United Changeling and Witch Coalition, like the FBI for each faction
was united into one organization, Alliance of Everlasting Matters that helped
to enforce those new policies and maintain the safety for each faction.

And tonight, some elitist Vamp was trying to
make a statement against the changelings and witches.

Unfortunately, he was going to get his ass
handed to him - JJ style.

JJ smiled as she caught the vamp’s
scent.

Her nails lengthened into the cat
like claws of her species.

The darklings
were once worshipped in Egypt, being closely aligned with cats.

They possessed heightened sense of sight,
hearing and smell.

Sometimes that could
be a curse, especially when she was out and the stench of unwashed human
reached up and smacked her in the face, like right now.

Add that to urine and rotting food and you
had a smorgasbord of
ewww
!

JJ’s nose twitched as the vamp came into
range.

Alex let out a growl, his wolf
causing his blue eyes to glow in the darkened alley.

JJ ran toward the man who stood at the end of
a dead end, her hackles rising as she cornered her prey.

JJ’s blood lust surged at the thought of
tasting her prey’s blood, reminding her of why darklings and vamps seemed to
get along, the craving for blood.

Her
prey just smiled at her, his fangs lengthening in preparation for battle.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that this
chase had been too easy, that they were missing something.

“Looks like you’ve reached a dead end.

Why don’t you play nice and I’ll think about
doing the same.” JJ hissed between her teeth.

The vamp chuckled, as if she had said something
amusing, as if he wasn’t trapped.

That
could only mean one thing.

They were the
ones who were trapped and this damn vamp had led them there.

JJ senses went into overdrive as she filtered
the scents around her, and she smiled in victory as she singled out the
telltale scent of vamp and darkling, six to be exact besides the one staring at
her, waiting for her move.

“You didn’t
come to the party alone.

I don’t
remember you saying anything about guests.” She said chancing a glance at her
new partner.

His blue eyes glowed as he
nodded, letting her know that he smelled them also.

She heard the click that signified Wren had
drawn her guns.

Alex gave them his feral
smile, before advancing the vamp slowly, never letting his gaze waver from the
vamp before them.

A low growl rumbled
from his chest as his body seemed to become more wolf than man.

JJ pushed aside her lust and suspicions and
focused on the vamp in front of her.

“What do you think to prove, Vamp?

Times are changing, you of all people who
lived through the humans own civil rights should know it is futile to
resist.

Prince Matthew loves his bound,
Abigail so there’s really nothing you can do about it.

What makes you think we as vamps and
darklings are any better than changelings or witches?” she asked, true
curiosity making her question instead of answer the blood lust call and attack.

The vamp had the audacity to laugh and
it angered her.

Alex growled at his
amusement.

“You are still quite young
darkling, but mark my words after tonight that changelings and witches will
know their place.” The vamp said as he lunged for Alex.

JJ let instinct guide her as she dodged the
coward who had thought to sneak up on her, dropping to the ground on her hands
and knees she used her foot to kick him in the sweet spot before pulling her
guns from the holsters she had strapped to her chest.

She rolled to her feet and turned to shoot
the cheeky darkling in the chest.

He groaned
as he hit the ground.

Although the
bullets wouldn’t kill him, it still hurt like a bitch and would subdue him
enough for her to finish this bullshit.

She looked over at Alex, whose muzzle
was covered in blood from the throat of the vamp he had just dispatched.

She heard three more shots and smiled as she
heard the satisfactory sound of Daniel ripping into someone’s throat.

Wren’s prey hit the pavement with an equally
satisfying thud.

Four down, two to
go.

JJ scented the next vamp just on the
fire escape one floor up.

She ran toward
the end of the alley and used the building to propel her jump right onto the
unsuspecting vamp.

She punched him in
the face, her inner beast purring at the sound of breaking bone as blood coated
her hand from his broken nose.

His blood
caused her throat to itch with the need to taste her prey.

Alex’s howl signified the last of their
enemies had been dispatched.

Looking
down at the pale visage of the vamp she had taken down she pushed his face
aside, exposing his neck to her view.

Unlike vamps she didn’t need blood to survive, but the metallic taste as
it slid down her throat, calmed her beast.

JJ bit into his flesh and groaned as the
unique flavor of vamp blood teased her taste buds.

After a few pulls from his neck she sat up,
knowledge making her understand the now dead vamp’s earlier cryptic
statement.

This was a diversion, one
that they had all fallen victim to.
