“Every time I see you, you take my breath away. I remember when Chuck told us his girlfriend was coming over and bringing her best friend. He ordered us to behave around you. We were a little pissed off and bitter about sharing our space. Then you walked in, and I damn near swallowed my tongue.”
“God, I looked awful back then.”
“You couldn’t look awful if you tried.”
“I—”
“Stop,” he said, putting his finger against her lip. “You’ve always been beautiful to us, and that won’t change.”
“Thank you. I’ve always thought you were the beautiful one. You should have taken up modeling. You certainly have the looks for it.”
“I am devastatingly handsome,” he quipped and turned his head to pose for her. Then he laughed. “Yeah, I don’t have the patience for that. I’d much rather be curled up at home with a good book then hamming it up in front of a camera.”
“Good grief, you just get sexier and sexier.”
He reached out and took the tray, lifting then standing with it. “I’ll just put this in the kitchen and grab some shorts out of the gym bag I keep in the car. By the time we change, and I clean up the kitchen, we should be good to go.”
“You don’t have to clean the kitchen,” she assured him. “And there’s no way I can run right after eating. I usually run on an empty tummy and grab breakfast when I get back.”
“Point taken and agreed,” Kyle said. “So we’ll move out to the couch and see if there’s anything on television this early. Do they still do Saturday morning cartoons?”
“Cartoons?” she asked.
“It’s either that or join you in bed, and we both know where that would lead.” His gaze softened as it caressed her. “I’m sure you’re still a little sore from last night. I’m hoping if I keep my hands off now, you’ll be ready for another round tonight.”
“I’m sure I will,” she agreed.
“Then I’ll meet you in the kitchen,” Kyle said and headed back out her bedroom door.
She sat for a long moment and just soaked it all in. Her dreams were starting to come true. The practical side of her wanted to break through the joy blanket and hit her with questions. How was this going to work? Did she really think she could hold the attention of three men? What happened when jealousy reared its head? But the happy part of her put that side in a choke hold and shut the bitch up. There would be time for those questions later. Much later.
She threw back the covers and hopped out of bed. She’d never been so happy to start a day and see where it took her.
* * * *
The day passed in a whirlwind of activity. By the time she and Kyle had returned from a run, Scott and Travis were both back and working in the backyard. They were hauling downed tree limbs and stuff in from the woods to chop for firewood. Scott had his shirt off, and his muscles rippled as he wielded the axe. But other than a soft kiss to her lips, they’d continued working. Even worse, Kyle was out of the shower and dressed to join them before she’d pulled herself away, leaving her on her own.
She could have gone out to help, but they all knew how much she hated it—to the point she often bought it instead of making use of what Mother Nature provided in her backyard. They’d read right through that one. Plus, she really did need the firewood for when this Indian summer left and they were right back to normal, cool October temperatures. So instead, she decided to tackle some indoor cleaning then make lunch for the guys before she hit the shower.
They were still outside when she finished up, though. Their lunch plates had been washed and sat in the draining board to dry. The way they kept cleaning up after themselves left her feeling edgy and a little disconcerted. Did this mean they were going back to the way things had been? Had nothing really changed after the amazing sex they’d had last night? Crap! She hated not having a clue what the hell was going on. With that in mind, she charged outside and stood and glared at them while they worked. One by one they noticed and stopped. Scott was the first to say anything.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, wiping his forearm across his brow to get the sweat out of his eyes.
“Brenna?” Kyle prompted when she just kept staring.
“How much longer will you guys be working?” she asked.
“Have plans?” Travis asked, but all three of them gave her an intensely possessive look.
“I thought I might head into town and run some errands,” she said. “I didn’t know if you’d be here when I got back.”
“Do you want us to leave?” Kyle said
“Fuck that,” Scott said, dropping the axe and crossing to her. “I said last night I wasn’t into the one-night stand thing, and you agreed. We want to spend tonight with you.”
“Every night,” Travis amended, and both Kyle and Scott nodded in agreement.
“I suggest coming to our place,” Scott said. “Travis and I live there, and Kyle might as well with all the time as he spends there. There’s more room than here, yet still affords the privacy you seem to enjoy, though I wouldn’t suggest dancing naked in the yard unless you’re ready for the consequences.”
“Consequences?” she asked.
“We’ve tasted you now,” Travis answered. “No way we’ll hold back again.”
“You’ll find yourself with three naked men working to persuade you to do more than dance,” Kyle added.
“Look,” Travis finally said, stepping forward. “Don’t misread our intentions today. Last night was incredible.”
“But?” she prompted.
“No buts,” Kyle said. “Except for that amazing one of yours. We just wanted to give you some time.”
“Time for what?” she asked.
“Time to be ready to go again,” Scott grunted. “Jesus, you think I’m wielding this axe just to chop wood? I’m doing it to try and burn off some of the sexual need riding me hard. Once wasn’t enough. Hell, I’m thinking a million years wouldn’t be enough time to sate myself with you.”
“Really?” She gazed at them, feeling a grin tug at her lips.
“Don’t you get it yet?” Travis asked her. “We’ve wanted a relationship with you for a long time. Maybe none of us planned on this one, but we’re not walking away from it. I don’t care what anyone thinks, but you. Plus, it makes me happy to know if I have to go out of town for something, one of both of my best friends are going to be around to watch over you and keep you warm at night.”
“How—”
“Will this work?” Kyle asked, and she nodded. “We’ll just have to take it day by day. I’m not one to borrow trouble or pester myself with a bunch of what ifs. I say we just enjoy the moment and deal with anything else when it happens.”
Scott ran his fingers lightly down her cheek. “Look, babe. Maybe we were wrong to give you so much space today. None of us wanted to make you uncomfortable with how much we want you.”
“You want me,” she said and smiled.
“All the fucking time,” Scott agreed. “My dick has been hard since I woke up this morning.”
She glanced down and took in the blatant bulge behind his zipper. She reached out to cup him, and his breath hissed out.
“I’d be happy to take care of that for you,” she purred.
“Oh, I want you to,” he admitted. “But not now. Later, at my house, when it’s the four of us again.”
“So you’ve all just been giving me time to recover today?”
“And let me tell you, I got the worst end of that,” Kyle muttered. “I nearly bit my tongue off to keep from asking if I could feast on you for breakfast.”
She shook her head. “I didn’t realize. I was afraid you were all uncomfortable and avoiding me.”
“Oh, we are,” Scott assured her, reaching down to adjust his dick. “But it was more to protect you. Later, we’ll let you make it up to us.”
“Oh, I will,” she purred again. “I’ll just go pack a bag and head into town.”
“Here,” Travis said, holding out a key to her. “Had this made for you this morning while I was gone. We want you to think of our house as yours.”
“Wow,” she said and blinked her eyes, which were suddenly damp. It was finally happening, and it seemed to be going at warp speed. But then they’d all known each other long enough to put aside the ‘get to know you stage’ and move right into the relationship if they wanted. And they obviously wanted. She did, too.
“I’ll head to town in a few minutes,” she said. “And meet you at the house when I’m done with errands.”
“We’ll be at least another hour,” Scott said. “I’ll order pizza when we get home.”
“Sounds great,” Brenna agreed and headed back toward the house.
“Brenna?” Travis called.
“Yes,” she asked as she turned her head.
“We plan to have you for dessert.”
A shiver went down her spine at the hungry looks on their faces. She flicked her gaze over their bodies. “As long as I get to eat dessert, too.”
“Any time you want,” Kyle offered.
She planned to take them up on that. She always did have a hell of an appetite. She packed a quick bag with just the right lingerie, adding an overnight make-up and toiletry bag. Then she was out the door and driving away. She pressed the button on her dashboard to activate her phone.
“Call Chel,” she ordered it.
“Calling Chel,” the car repeated back, and the tones of a phone dialing filled the interior.
“Hey, you!” Chel answered. “What’s up? Sleep well last night?”
“Oh my God!” Brenna squealed.
“What? What happened?” Chel demanded.
“Everything,” Brenna admitted with a laugh. “Everything I’ve spent years dreaming of.”
“Who showed up? Was it Travis? I saw the way he was rubbing on you at the bar.”
“Mhmm,” Brenna said.
“Or Scott? He’s always got his eyes on you, watching you with a look that says he wants to strip you down and do the nasty.”
Brenna thought about what they’d done last night. Oh, it’d been nasty, all right, and perfect.
“Or Kyle? Chuck says he brings you up all the time, asking if you’re coming, too, whenever we all get together.”
Oh, she’d come. Plenty of times.
“Well? Who was it?”
“Yes,” Brenna sighed.
“Yes? What kind of answer is that when I ask you about three men? Yes would be if they all showed up. And… Oh my God! They all showed up?”
“Yes,” Brenna repeated, and Chel yelled in her ear.
“So what happened? Did they fight over you? Who did you pick? Girl, you better start saying more than yes, or are you recalling last night?” Chel changed her tone to a breathy sigh. “Yes. Yes. Oh, God, yes!”
Brenna laughed. “We all spent the night together.”
“Doing what? I thought you got laid from the excitement in your voice.”
“I did.”
“What…” Chel’s voice trickled off. “You mean you…with all three of them?”
“Oh, yeah.”
“Holy shit! A full-on ménage! You lucky bitch! How was it? Travis, Scott and Kyle? Damn! I just can’t! Damn!”
“I know. It was the most amazing night of my life. And…” She cleared her throat. “We’re all staying at Scott and Travis’ house tonight.”
“So what does this mean? Are you all seeing each other? Or, I guess you’re seeing all of them, and they’re seeing you. How is that going to work?”
“I don’t know. We haven’t really gone into all the specifics. They went into it making sure I knew they’d wanted me for a long time and didn’t want a one-night stand.”
“That’s promising,” Chel said.
“And today we sort of discussed it and decided to take things one day at a time and see what happens.”
“Smart,” Chel agreed. “Just be careful, Brenna. I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
“No. Not this time. I’m tired of being careful, of thinking everything to death and talking myself out of taking chances. For the first time in my life, I’m taking a chance and just feeling. I’ve spent years loving them from a distance, watching and wishing for just one shot to show them I could be the perfect woman for them. Now, I find myself in a place where I have that shot. And maybe I never expected that I’d have it with all of them. But I do. And I’m not going to be afraid. I want this. They seem to want this. I’m going to do this, and I’m going to enjoy the hell out of every moment I have with them. It doesn’t matter if it days or a lifetime. I’ll cherish every moment.”
“Go you,” Chel said softly. “If I’d known a little wine and magic would bring about this change, I’d have done it a long time ago.”
Brenna laughed. “The wine might have helped relax me more, but you and I both know there’s no such thing as magic. It was fun to pretend.”
“I don’t know,” Chel countered. “Pretty sure I made some magic of my own last night.”
A laugh tumbled from Brenna’s lips and Chel joined in.
“What a night,” Brenna agreed. “What was in that wine?”
“Nothing,” Chel said with a laugh. “Good grief! You think I’d slip you a mickey? You know me better than that!”
“I just meant… Never mind.” She brushed the thoughts away. Magic or not, she was happy, and she planned to stay that way. “How did your night go?”
“My man satisfied me all night long and then some. I swear he was even more insatiable than normal, and I enjoyed every moment of it.”
“Is the timing right?” Brenna asked, knowing Chel would understand.
“I think so. I should be in my fertile window.”
“If there is magic, I hope it works for you, Chel. You and Chuck will be amazing parents.”
“Thanks, Brenna. I just feel good about this. Like the timing is perfect. You know what I mean?”
Brenna nodded as she drove. “I do. I really do.”
The time was right for her, Scott, Kyle and Travis to embark on something new together. No matter what the distant future held, she knew what tonight and tomorrow would bring. More time with the three men who’d fueled every fantasy since she was fifteen years old. If nothing else, she planned to make memories to last a lifetime.
Chapter Five
Brenna ran the errands she needed to in record time. She stopped by Redbox and picked up several action movies, a horror film and the latest romantic comedy she’d been wanting to see. She headed to the store after to pick up some more wine, a case of the guys’ favorite beer and some snacks for movie time. Then with her heart knocking in her chest, she drove over and let herself in.
